Ha, I didn’t realize this was a plain rooibos and just assumed it was super lightly flavored. Well, it was nice and juicy and sweet. Quite a decent cold cup of tea. I would totally drink this again. It looks like this company has shut down, so I hope I don’t enjoy any of their teas too much!

aw, I thought I noticed Herbal Infusions was still open a few months ago…

drank Chocolate Orange Black by 52teas

This was a really solid tea! I drank it cold with milk and sugar, and it was super high quality and tasty while still being a simple flavor profile. I made it the night before a long work day, so to be honest, I had no memory of what flavor it was supposed to be, and it tasted like mostly a straight black tea with some rich chocolatey notes. The second time I drank this, I noticed those very natural-tasting chocolate notes again (now I know it’s from nibs and shells). I’ve never tasted any orange here. The resteep was rich and very worth it as well. This tea base and the chocolate flavors go so well together.

This was a little more average tasting than I had hoped. I taste the too-herbaceous coriander and other things that belong more in a health tea than a fun tea. I’m a lemongrass fan, but here it’s just too healthful seeming mixed with the peppermint and everything else. At the end of some sips, my throat catches a bit of the red pepper, which I don’t love here.

drank Chocolate Frog Tea by Sub Rosa Tea

I’m pretty sure this is just Adagio’s pecan turtle tea. I used to really enjoy that tea, and I don’t know if they changed the recipe or my tastes changed, but I haven’t loved it the last few times I had it. I taste mostly rooibos with some chocolate and nuttiness. It just isn’t as sophisticated or deep tasting as I would like.

I love how shimmery this is! The flavor is unfortunately not my favorite. It tastes too much like bitter fruit rind. It’s a bit appley, but mostly rindy. Cold and sweetened, it’s not bad, but the balance is far from perfect.

drank Really Root Beer by Nelson's Tea

This tastes too earthy for my preference. I’ve had a bunch of good root beer teas, and this is one of my less favorite ones due to that. I do taste the root beer vibe as well, it’s just overpowered by earthiness. Cold with sugar, it’s not bad.

I had a tea a few years ago that tasted just like this. It’s mostly coffee-ish with rooibos in there too. It’s simple, but not bad! I prefer Teeccino, but that’s a lot heartier. This has a lighter vibe, leaning more toward sweetness than bitterness.

I haven’t tried a coffee/roo combo, but it sounds like they would fit together nicely.

drank Calming Chamomile by DAVIDsTEA

Bag saved from a TTB. With my usual chamomile treatment of milk and flavoring syrup, this was tasty! Plain, it tasted like a pretty normal chamomile. Not worth seeking out specifically, but not bad at all.

I taste the orange and some nuttiness. It’s not the most unique flavor combination, but it’s decent cold. It’s a refreshing combination, but there’s something I can’t put my finger on that I’d prefer tweaked a bit. Maybe I need to underleaf this one for my preferences. I just feel like I’ve had better versions of this tea.

drank Easter Basket by St. James Tearoom

This is tart, but in a nice way, like sour candy. They serve it warm, but I bet this is really refreshing cold. It needs some sugar to smooth it out. I don’t think I’d seek this out specifically among a sea of red fruity teas, but this isn’t bad.

Bio

I’m an event planner who always has multiple mugs of tea beside me. Hobbies other than tea include board games, video games, cooking international dishes, science fiction, hiking, jigsaw puzzles, tap dancing, reading, listening to podcasts, and playing with my troublesome kitties.

Favorite flavors: dessert flavors, nutty, melon, mint, strawberry, anything rooibos-related.

Don’t prefer: Smoky, rosemary, savory flavors, floral (other than lavender), plain tea.

I always drink flavored tea, and preferably caffeine-free or black. I’ll try just about anything though! Let me know if you’re interested in a swap!

My ratings are kind of meaningless, but basically
90-100 pretty perfect
80-89 really good
70-79 good, but not the best
60-69 okay, but probably not for me
1-59 varying degrees of dislike
