2489 Tasting Notes
I taste the orange and some nuttiness. It’s not the most unique flavor combination, but it’s decent cold. It’s a refreshing combination, but there’s something I can’t put my finger on that I’d prefer tweaked a bit. Maybe I need to underleaf this one for my preferences. I just feel like I’ve had better versions of this tea.
The leaf of this is really powdery since it’s supposed to be an herbal coffee. The scent was super bitter, and I thought I wouldn’t like it, but the spice combination turns this into a decent chai! There’s a good bit of roastiness and some relatively mild spices. It’s earthy and interesting with some sugar and almond milk. I appreciate the unique variety of foraged ingredients here. It makes it feel extra fresh!
This is pleasantly desserty! I wouldn’t call it carrot cake, but I definitely taste the spices. After eating something super sweet in our dessert course, my partner and I turned to each other and at the same time said that now we could taste the carrot cake! It just needed something to bring it out. I’ve had much tastier carrot cake teas, so I wouldn’t prioritize this one. It was nice, but it didn’t stand out.
I recently enjoyed another lovely visit to Ivy Tearoom. This tea was Forever Nuts-ish, though not as tasty as other versions. There’s a bit of a weird flavor here. It’s nutty, but not exciting. Good with milk and sugar. It was probably our least favorite tea of the meal.
I brewed this as instructed, but my first cup started out a little bitter/astringent. I put it in the fridge overnight, and it tasted much better, especially with milk and extra sugar. On my second cup, I tasted mostly green tea with some chai spices and just a hint of fruit. This isn’t my favorite sort of profile, so I wouldn’t choose this one again. I wish I could have tasted the individual fruits more distinctly.
