Sip Down & Backlog -8/22

I made this after work on Monday, but it seemed to have the opposite effect on me…I was up until 00:30 reading. Ha-ha. However, I don’t think this cup was to blame for my late-night adventure; rather, it was the desire to read Don Quixote to 100 pages.

Notes: Floral and a touch of vanilla.

Bag saved from a TTB. With my usual chamomile treatment of milk and flavoring syrup, this was tasty! Plain, it tasted like a pretty normal chamomile. Not worth seeking out specifically, but not bad at all.

Day 13 Davids Tea Advent Calendar

It’s chamomile with no frills. I think it’s been a while since I’ve had a basic chamomile tea with no other herbal add ins. It feels silky and reminds me of summer. It’s kind of mellow, not bad, but not super exciting either. Here’s hoping for a good night sleep!

Day 7 of Around the World Advent Calendar 2023 features this tea.

Notes from box: Straight from the heart of sunny & scenic Croatia comes this aromatic, caffeine-free treat for you to love.

My notes: This is a bunch of lovely hay-scented flowers with an intoxicatingly calm aroma. They are a mustard yellow color and, if I have to be critical, look a little dusty and over-dry. The tea is mild and buttery and light and everything chamomile should be. If you are looking for something stronger, move along. This will not do it for you.

It’s not anyone’s fault that drinking chamomile makes me feel like I’m standing in a field of fluffy yellow weeds with loose pollen flying everywhere, but I just don’t enjoy it. I took a few sips here to give it a shot and handed it over to my partner, who simply said, “yep, I like chamomile”.

Adventaggedon Day Twenty – 1/6

I do not like chamomile at all, so this was a tea I basically put off drinking for as long as I could today. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with this chamomile in particular; I think it’s actually a really great grade and I’ve always found it to be rather fresh. It’s just a taste that is super not for me. I know some people say chamomile has apple notes, and I just taste musty florals. A bouquet in an attic.

So… small cup of this.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

I’ve had chamomile that I liked a lot better than this and tasted fresher. Although my bag of this that I tried was part of a sampler so perhaps if you buy a bag by itself it’s better. I vaguely remember trying this at a DavidsTea location and really enjoying it then. So that might support that but it would’ve been years ago.

I love this for a “Sleepy Tea”. A splash of vanilla really makes this a bedtime treat.

Definitely the best straight chamomile I’ve ever had. If I need another night time tea in the future, this would be the one.

Sipdown no. 5 of May 2019 (no. 67 of 2019 total, no. 555 grand total).

I’m very glad to take this out of my cupboard.

The sad fact is that I just don’t love plain chamomile. The best plain chamomile I ever had was from Samovar, and I didn’t even love that.

I have tried. I really have. I just can’t get there.

I will probably continue to try from time to time, but I think I’m better off with tiny quantities of plain and maybe finding a blend or two that works reasonably well. For now, I’m just glad it is gone. Which isn’t to say this is a bad chamomile as they go.

It’s just that the sad fact is I don’t love plain chamomile.

Mastress Alita

Good riddance.
