drank Pistachio Cream by DAVIDsTEA
1598 tasting notes

I am really beyond tired right now, which makes sense because it’s 2:30 AM! Whoops. I’ve been surfing and listening to music for the past hour and didn’t notice. Also, this song has been on repeat the whole time… (It’s trance so it’s meant to fade into the background but still…. hello brain?)

I just needed to jot down that this tea is actually decent. It’s better than I remember, but the thing is that I’m not that crazy about pistachio so I’m better with Mulberry Magic. That being said, when I go Friday, if they have this in a 2/$5 bag, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to grab it.

ALSO! Here’s a tangent because I’m OBSESSED ATM. Do you guys know Allie Brosh of Hyperbole and a Half wrote a book? And that it came out already? And that it’s freaking hilarious and you should buy it? DO IT. I have the ebook and I was reading it while trying to put my daughter to sleep and it was a terrible idea because the parts that make me laugh, make me do so outloud. I can’t help myself… And the paper book is really hefty and pretty and so colorful, and it’s onlyl $~9 if you buy it online. (http://hyperboleandahalfbook.blogspot.ca/)

So, I had Chocolate “O” earlier (and didn’t log it, but oh well), and discovered that I had ONE cup left of this. OMG. I forgot!

So, this is just perfect and I’m really happy about it. It’s back on my shopping list and I’ll order some for Black Friday, assuming Stacy has some kind of awesome sale.

Butiki Teas

Of course, we have an awesome Black Friday sale lined up!

Plunkybug

Chocolate “O” ?

TeaLady441

Excellent, Stacy! I figured you would – I’ve already got money set aside. :)

And Heather, that was one from the Tea Spot. Someone reviewed it earlier in my stream (OMGsrsly?) and that made me want some too.

Sil

bolder breakfast> chocolate o imo heh

TeaLady441

I agree! Bolder Breakfast has more depth!

drank Movie Night by DAVIDsTEA

Mmmm. I’m thinking it’ll either be this, or North African Mint for my green DAVIDsTEA tin. This is just so good, but so is the NAM when I remember to drink it. Both are low caffiene too.

#decisions. I’m not buying more tins. ;P

Anna

This sounds so awesome. I vote for this!

Fjellrev

I haven’t tried the NAM, but this one is so unique! I need to pick up more.

TeaLady441

North African Mint. :) It’s really good!

Roswell Strange

I love mint flavoured things (and therefore teas) a lot, but personally I love this blend more than NAM. I think it’s just really unique as a tea flavour. Maybe I’m a bit biased though… I did work in a movie theatre for over a year so popcorn flavoured things are really nostalgic for me in a good way.

TeaLady441

I think I’m leaning that way too! It is just so unusual. And it’s basically herbal which is nice as I need more of those around.

VariaTEA

Just had NAM this morning and it was really good. I loved the blend of mint and spice. However, I haven’t tried Movie Night yet. To be honest, I wasn’t that interested but after reading reviews like yours, I realized I really should give it a taste.

drank Korean Sejak by DAVIDsTEA

I’m pretty much over this tea. Too bad I have 1-2 cups left of it in my tin. :(

I’ll probably focus on finishing it up, and then I’ll have to decide what green tea to fill it back up with (fill as in 50g, not 100 – I learned my lesson!) I’m thinking North African Mint, Movie Night or Countess of Seville!

ETA: Those last 2 cups worth of tea had an “accident”. They were over a year old – I think it’s stale. #excuses

OMGsrsly

Lol. Those kinds of accidents are always so nice to have. :)

TeaLady441

Right? I’m sure we’ve all been there!

drank Boston by Harney & Sons
1598 tasting notes

Well if I’m triyng Fruit D’Alsace, why not Boston too? I’ve got tin-loads of that one. :)

Having it back to back, I can see that these two teas are VERY similar. Fruity blacks, with the same base. I always forget about the almond in this that mellows it out. This feels more like a fall tea to me

(I don’t know what it is, but these H&S teas seem a bit flatter than I remember. :( Maybe I need to add more leaf?)

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 4 min, 15 sec
Fjellrev

I only had a sample of Boston and thought it was really flavourful but who knows. I’m actually finding that it’s taking forever to get to the bottom of my H&S tins. They’re not grabbing me anymore.

ifjuly

Boston definitely reads as a fall/Thanksgiving tea to me, ’cause of the almond and cranberry reminding me of a cake I make for the holidays with that in it. Yum.

BTW, I remember being so-so about Fruits d’Alsace then having it cold steeped and being amazed how delicious it is that way.

drank Fruits d'Alsace by Harney & Sons
1598 tasting notes

I’m on my last oz of this so I thought I’d keep working away at it. I enjoy it, although it’s not for every day. It just has that fruity stone flavour that I like.

Was this the one people would compare to Paris? Because I think Paris is more EG-like and creamier, while this is just sweet and … french?

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 4 min, 0 sec
Rosehips

I’d compare it more closely to Tower of London than to Paris. Both TOL and Fruits d’Alsace have that stone fruit flavor that I am also a fan of.

TeaLady441

Oh – that’s probably it – thanks!

drank Chocolate Rocket by DAVIDsTEA
1598 tasting notes

I thought I would have a cup of this from the sample JustJames so generously provided a few months ago. I have to say that while I was doing the dishes and waiting for it to cool I was REALLY enjoying the smell of it.

Mmmmmm. Chocolate and raspberry.

It’s a good thing I liked the smell because before I had my first sip I knocked my cup over the stove and spilled most of it down the burners. :O Whoops.

I did enjoy the remaining 3 sips left in the cup, and I have enough for a few more cups. Another day then.

(I wanted this because I ran out of the cocoberry mate and I actually did really enjoy that one! I’m hoping I’ll go to DAVIDsTEA friday to scoop the winter collection, and that they’ll have the fall teas bundled up in $2/5 packs. Maybe I’ll get lucky)

OMGsrsly

Ooh, I hadn’t thought of the fall teas being on sale! Totally have to go to DavidsTea on Friday.

TeaLady441

:P I’m all about sales. >__>

I just hope that Friday is enough time for them to bundle up the old teas and put them as 2/$5. That might be a lower priority than getting the store switched over to winter. I can’t remember if it takes them time or not.

TeaLady441

Which of the Fall Teas would you like to grab if you could?
I mostly want the Cocoberry and Sugar & Spice but only one bag each.

keychange

I’m definitely stocking up on Sugar and Spice. Like, I want tins and tins of it. I’m scared they won’t bring it back next fall :(

TeaLady441

I wonder how well that one did? I liked it, but of they are overstocked maybe it’ll end up as a web special…

CHAroma

Are they really going to stop offering the fall teas so soon? It’s still October!

TeaLady441

It seems like it. I remember seeing ads a few weeks back that we should get the fall teas before they leave, but I thought that was just really early marketing to trick us into buying more. What? We won’t want pumpkin Chai after Halloween? YES WE WILL

OMGsrsly

I didn’t really love any of them, but I’d probably get sugar and spice. Maybe something else. Idk. Depends on what I see!

keychange

Yeah, they are pulling them off the shelves rather quickly, if you ask me! I think the fall and winter teas should be available until the spring collection comes out.

After hearing so much about this one, I knew I had to have it as my next oolong sample! (sipdown – 96)

I steeped it for 2.5 minutes, which might have been a bit much. This tea is very strong and roasty, but it almost tastes like a Yunnan or some variety of black tea, instead of an oolong as I’m used to it. Maybe that’s because I’m not getting ANY floral notes at all?

This smells wonderful though – dark and sweet, and the tea itself tastes just as nice. It’s very woodsy with a bit of honey.

I’ll update when I re-steep this later on.

I think I prefer the Da Hong Pao, but this is close.

ETA: Second steep was 2 minutes, and is almost too mild! I went from too much to too little.

I’ll have to buy more samples of this in the future!

I think this might be the oolong that I preferred most out of all the Teavivre samples I recieved! It’s just so dark and roasty and perfect for fall. I think if I had a bag of it, I’d be able to experiment more with temperature and steep time to play upon different notes.

It’s too bad you can’t order 50g packs from Teavivre! I think it would take me at least a year to get through 100g of an oolong…

Preparation

Lala

This is one of my favorites too.

TeaLady441

:) Glad I picked a good one. It was tough for me because I don’t drink oolongs often, and had 9 different samples to compare – that’s hard to keep straight in your head!

Sil

it’s called splitting orders silly!

Plunkybug

I like the Oriental Beauty, just a little bit more, but both are yummy.

TeaVivre

Sorry for the inconvenience to you,we will consider your suggestion.

TeaLady441

Heather – I’m really enjoying the Oriental Beauty right now too! I only have the one sample of it, but can see that I would want more!

And thanks Angel! I just know personally that I would rather buy 50g of two teas that I’m unsure of, than just pick one at 100g and hope for the best! I realize that complicates things for you with added packaging etc, so I’m not expecting you to change anything. :)

TeaVivre

Thank you for tell me your opinion, i also understand it’s convenient for you to pick 50g . And thanks for your understanding.

My head hurts so much I should just go to bed, but it’s been a long day and I want to relax with this cup and start knitting this snake scarf I’ve been eying for my daughter. If it looks like I have it figured out, I want to make one for my nephew for christmas too. Hers will be green with orange and brown stripes, while his will be orange with brown and green. And they’ll have little tongues sticking out and button eyes. Totally adorable.
