1598 Tasting Notes
Backlog: I made this one yesterday on the iron stove too! We were sitting in the living room, just chatting by candlelight when everyone wanted tea!
No one ever wants tea! :O
So I grabbed my TARDIS teapot and made a pot of this one. Our guests don’t really drink tea (in fact they’ve NEVER had EG), but I thought this one was standard enough that it was more likely to be enjoyed.
And I was right! Good thing they’re not like Sil!
This is it here: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/ef6d/?pfm=Search&t=tardis%20teapot
My boyfriend picked it up from our local comic store and gave it to me for my birthday in the summer(as well as a Flash hoody, a minecraft pick axe, and Tardis/Dalek Salt and Pepper shakers!) I was really happy because I know he HATES Doctor Who (I know, right? But I didn’t know I liked it until AFTER we met, so I can’t say that’s a dealbreaker. Haha) and it was just sweet of him to support my fandoms/interests even if he’s encouraging something he’d rather run away from. :P
Sadly it doesn’t get enough use as I rarely use the pot for myself, and I don’t often have company. And when I do, I get nervous about making them tea because what if I pick the wrong oen? :O /hermitlife
i think it happens to everyone sometimes…. just never to me before. i usually love this time of year. blah )=0[
Backlog:
Our power went out Saturday night so Sunday was a fail when it came to making tea. Partway through the day we realized we still had warm water so I made a cup of this with warm water and it turned out decently.
I was desperate.
Later, we had family stop by with wood for the cast iron stove, and once we had that ripping hot, I was able to make another cup of this properly, and to share! It was perfect.
I should probably backlog (not bacon, Autocorrect!) the other teas I had today but for the last few hours the power has been off more than on.
It went off just as I decided I needed more tea. Yep. So I started cold new wrong a resteep of Nutmeg Cream because I just love it.
The power jumped back on an hour ago so I jumped on it immediately to make tea
That only lasted half an hour, but I’ve got this to sip on so I quite happy.
Oh this is why having an ereader with a light built in it is AMAZING. I always keep it on the lowest setting and in a pitch black room I can read perfectly. For hours. Maybe a few says straight? I don’t have to charge it very often. I started reading Alice in Wonderland to my daughter but she for bored if tha and is now watching Blues Clues on my tablet. Technology us pretty great. (She loves books, but they need pictures. I can accept that!)
Anyway, I’m happy Sil let me scoop some of this from her. I really like it. I couldn’t find an orange chocolate tea that really gelled for me – often the flavours weren’t strong enough – but this is pure win.
Yep, yep they do!
Damn. I wish I could edit posts On Steepster on phone. All the typos are going to make me crazy. >:(
Hope the power is back on (for good) in the morning and I can do it on computer.
Woah. This tea is bold! It’s almost milk&sugar bold, although I’ll probably finish this first cup plain.
Ok – time to roleplay – i’ll finish this later. :P
So many new teas, so little time? What next?
Well, my Butiki order is in so I had better snatch one of those up. I’ve been so excited about this one.
The base makes it thick and bready, while carrots and spices swim in the backnotes. I’m not getting much vanilla frosting – just a little here and there, but I suspect I’ll taste it more once it cools. This is interesting in comparison to the awful Carrat Cake Oolong I had from DavidsTea just a few days ago, and the super good but super sweet rooibos version from DTT. As to be expected, this one tastes more natural than the others.
ETA: I added a little bit of sugar, as was suggested, and it DOES make the carrot/vanilla pop a bit more
Preparation
I drank this earlier today and quite enjoyed it! My toddler did too, which is funny because she usually just ignores my tea, but this time she walked up to my cup and kept trying to drink from it. I gave her a few sips and each time she proclaimed, “Mmmmmm!”. So adorable!
I’m hoping to get a variable temp kettle for Christmas and then drinking this one will be easier.
And this is another sipdown. (168 – with my Butiki order!)
I don’t know what it is, but I’m not really digging something in this blend. It’s ok, but it’s making my throat scratchy. I wonder if that means I’m allergic to something in the blend? Someone mentioned that earlier – maybe JustJames? in regards to rooibos?
So I think this was one of the ones I bought from Sil! She went out on a fancy tea shopping trip when she found out they were available locally, and lazy me just said I’d buy some off you. :P
So I’m enjoying this. It’s a nice brisk black tea, malty and not too sweet. To be honest, it’s nice, but not as knock-my-socks-off as I had hoped for, especially when compared to Bolder Breakfast, or Laoshan Black.
But that’s ok. I can’t afford to buy a tin of this and every tea out there. :) I’ll enjoy this while I can.
