And here’s my 10th Herbal Infusion tea! Woooooo.
So yes. THIS is the Chai. Not this (http://steepster.com/cavocorax/posts/210728). It smells spicy like you would expect and I think maybe that there’s sandalwood or something in there to make it stand out? There’s something woodsy in here and I like it.
Now on to the first sip: O.M.G. what was that? There is something seriously spicy in there. Not spicy enough for my bf who took a sip of it and called me a wimp, but spicier than I expected in my tea. Interesting! I’m sure milk and sugar would tone it down but I like this.
I hadn’t really taken note of Herbal Infusion tea before – they sure seem to have some nice sounding teas!
On to my 9th Herbal Infusions tea!
Why I am so sleepy? This is my 7th tea with caffeine in it today. The base is really nice – I’m starting to identify this from some of the other blends.
The Chai isn’t as spicy as I thought Chai would be, but it’s nice.
Everything is nice.
I’m gonna grab some jelly beans now.
(I’m so sleepy. Maybe it’s because we’ve had people over for 11 hours and I have a Doctor Who episode to watch, and a Dean/Castiel fic I’m halfway through and I also wanted to see if there was anything on Boxing Day worth buying)
Hi guys!
/sleepy wave
ETA WHOOPS! I thought this was the Masala chai. I guess that’s why I didn’t get ANY chai spices from it and was confused. I do remember it being soft and minty. LOL. (dumbass)
I’m on 8/12! Well maybe I have hope for getting through all of these.
(Probably not!)
The cherry in this is interesting. It’s like the cherries using in baking – very strong and sweet. I think I may have used too hot of water for the green tea as it’s almost… salty? But when I rescue my variable kettle from tea jail tomorrow or the next day I can do it again properly!
The apple-ginger is an interesting mix. It’s very much apple cider with a little bit of a kick. I feel like I’m going to fall asleep right now on the computer – too much dinner and cookies? Probably. Not a bad day though! Our little bear got a lot of great toys and we had a good time visiting people.
7/12
Ok, I drank this one and I enjoyed it, but I can’t really remember what it was like because I was in the middle of OMG-get-dinner-ready-hows-the-turkey-make-the-gravy-lets-eat. I remember that it smelled amazing.
I’ll have to do a real review once I can sit down and pay attention to the cup, but I can tell you guys that I totally nailed dinner! :P (And that’s with instant stuffing and instant gravy and pre-made salad)
6/12
This is 5/12 Christmas Teas! Maybe I can finish the night at 9? I’m so slow. Also so busy getting stuff ready and dealing with the kiddo. :)
I was hoping this would help to settle my stomach as I have had TOO MANY cookies today. I can’t believe I’m 32 and this is still a thing I do, but they were so good, and there are so many more treats to eat and I just can’t do it. Just…. can’t.
I better go for a big walk tomorrow!
Also, I better have room for turkey in two hours.
Time for a nice mint tea. I assumed absinthe meant mint, and I was right. Mint and a little bit of licorice sweetness providing a little bit of coolness to my mouth. This is great.
ETA Wooo! This was my 1000th tasting note!
ummmm….. absinthe is booze, is it not? the banned hallucinogenic one from france (in its legit form)….. there’s no mint in it, is there? 9so clueless, lol)
It’s not entirely banned! We bought some when I lived in Alberta because I wanted to see what the fuss was about! It had some wormwood in it as well, but now a days you can’t get ones with enough wormwood to make you hallucinate. (apparently)
I was only able to drink HALF a shot and even that was a struggle. My friends had 2-3 and it was enough to really mess them up. That’s enough for me!
You can get it in BC, or you could a few years ago, but maybe not with the wormwood.
i have a friend with a friend who has a legit/legal distillery in the EU. it’s not allowed to be exported. not to anywhere in north america at least. you can buy the name and the soft stuff in liquor stores…. the real stuff (again i’m clueless) one shot equates to several hits of acid, apparently.
yeah. i know a few people that travel to the EU in order to indulge. soooooooooo not my thing. nice enough individuals, but we aren’t close, lol. i hve no prob saying chemicals like that terrify me! and (surprise, surprise) they think i’m allergic to them anyway.
I WISH!!!!! We have company and I’m the ONLY WHOVIAN HERE. :O
(Until TK gets old enough that I can get her to watch them with me. I’ll probably watch it at 3 AM once I’m alone!)
Tony set it up to record for me. I’ll watch it tomorrow when he takes a bubble bath (yes, real men take very long bubble baths).
you better believe real men take bubble baths! although to be honest i prefer bath salts…. but that’s just personal preference. =0)
we drink wine and tea while bathing too…. and if we have waterproof phone cases we play video games! =0P
My parents got some absinthe with wormwood in it at a BC distillery.. :) Also, Merry Christmas, Happy 1000, and eat all the cookies you want. :D
Ok, here’s 4/12! You can tell I’ve tried it if the pic has been updated to show the tea. :P I said I’d do it – I’m a lady of my worrrrd. (Imagine the Joker saying that – worrrrrd. Man, I love the Dark Knight)
So I over-leafed this because I hate weak tea and I didn’t know what to expect! With the milk & cookie prompt, it’s easy to imagine cookies as I get a touch of creaminess in the blend, as well as maple goodness and sweetness.
There’s something that makes me think of baked goods in the base as well but I’m also getting a little bit of bitterness to it. Not in a bad way – I think it helps add to the thick/baked mouthfeel.
I like this one, but so far it’s my least favourite of the bunch.
And here’s my 3/12. I don’t think it’s realistic to hit 12 by the end of the day but it’s fun to try! :)
This is a really nice Earl Grey. The marshmallow lends a vanilla sweetness to it that lingers long after each sip. It’s very creamy too. OMG
I’m going to have to re-steep this before I move on to the next!
Preparation
Sil, do you not like EGs at all? Even ones that don’t feel the need to smash a bergamot tree several times over your head, and then rub your face in it, just because well… EAHRL GREEEHY!!!!! I also hate those, and I’m not a regular EG kind of gal, but sometimes it inexplicably hits the spot.
Incidentally, that just made me wonder how many companies use hibiscus and bergamot to cover up the taste of a poor quality tea base…
i haaaaate EG. bergamot is awful. There have been maybe 2? that haven’t made me want to spit the cup down the drain. I just keep trying them anyway haha
haha maple is win with smoky teas!
I haven’t tried those Lay’s Maple Moose chips but the smoky maple combination here sounds like the same idea.
Yum. I will need to try the maple idea someday….
My mom was shocked the Lay’s Maple Moose won: according to her they taste like “Sweaty moose balls”. That was enough of a descriptor to keep me from trying them, though :P
LOL
Haha I’ve heard nothing but negative comments about them. One reason why popularity contests ruin life.
At least Russian Caravan + maple syrup doesn’t taste like sweaty moose balls. I doubt Cavo would be raving about it if it did!
Didn’t know there was a contest lol.
Also….how do you know she wouldn’t be raving about it. Maybe sweaty moose balls are her. Thing ;)
Hahha. You don’t know until you’ve tried them?
You need to get some whipped cream to try this with as well, Cavo. :)
