1598 Tasting Notes
This is my first Herbal Infusions blend that I’ve tried, and I am just pleased as punch!
It’s dark and rich and sweet and makes me think I don’t need H&S’s SoHo or Florence because the coconut and hazelnut in this are fantastic, and I love the coffee beans and chocolate for the mocha effect, all swirled around an almondy black base.
Yessssssssss.
The only downshot is that the sample bags AREN’T resealable so I’ll probably make this again tomorrow as my go-cup for my transit adventure to see Sil. I suspect it’ll make a great timolino brew too.
And I just had one cup and I’m looking at the website and thinking… hmmm. $6.50 for 50g is pretty good, add to cart, no wait – close it! (I need to try more of their teas)
ETA: By the way, this is also much better than the H&S teas I’ve mentioned above because all the flavours come across as completely natural. I’m happy Courtney reviewed this and got em excited enough to sample it.
Preparation
This makes me happy too, I ordered just assuming that I would love it. From your comments, it sounds like I will.
Oh no. Now I’m nervous. What if I was just in a great mood and rated it higher than it deserves? :O Well Sil can have a shot at it too…
And I don’t really care for my SoHo or Florence blends anymore. I just can’t make them good. They’re either weak or artificial… So this one was really nice in comparison.
I might need to break the rules and dig out my package of this. I LOVE Soho and Florance, but I also adore mocha. If this combines all of that…. Swoon..
BrewTEAlly Sweet Have you tried this? If not remind me to toss some into that package I’m going to send you once I get organized….
Better than Soho and Florence – that is awesome! I got tired of Florence as well, at the end of my tin but still have some Soho which I liked better anyway for the coconut but this sounds like it might be a good similar alternative!
This isn’t the strongest tasting rooibos I’ve had, but the flavouring is a little delicate. I am getting a little creamy mint to it though so I’ll enjoy this cup, and pass the last cup on to Sil bc he might not have had it yet, and I. Want to push her cupboard numbers up.
Thanks VariaTEA!
I don’t think this one is for me. It’s very well blended, but I’m personally not a huge fan of nutty teas or really grassy teas.
Ok, so it’s been long enough that it seems safe to drink these down and announce that they came from the Amoda box.
OMG. The smell of this is just divine. It’s like warmed eggnog. I could just sit here and smell this all afternoon…. /drools
And each sip I take is just that much better. Unlike the DAVIDsTEA’s I had earlier, this tea doesn’t hide the base. It respects it. It enhances it by sidling up to it and taking it slow.
The black base is complex and rich and dark. The nutmeg and cream are prominent and give the tea a thick mouthfeel. I just love this tea.
Too bad I’ve only got enough for 3 more cups.
Preparation
They might make it for Amoda if enough people tell Amoda there’s demand! But shipping from them is $10.
Shipping from Amoda is $10?! That seems a little excessive, seeing as their awesome boxes are about $2.
I know, right? That’s what it was back when they sold the leftover teas. Now they just direct you to the blender if you want to buy more so maybe they’re switching their model again?
And here’s another one from Janelle!
I like how we can all try the same tea and get different things. For me, the coconut/oolong combination is just screaming butter. Every sip, that’s what I get – warm butter oozing down my throat.
No thanks!
I’ll wait for my second cup before I rate this.
Woo! My tea from Herbal Infusions came in today, and I also got my huge mystery stash package from Janelle. It had a lot of teas from DAVIDs in it that I’d never tried, so I’m pretty excited to run through them all.
My cupboard is up at 119 now though. :O
This tea smells really amazing. I hope it tastes as good.
Ok, this is interesting. I mean it’s a puerh blend, and I didn’t think puerh would work with mint, but this sorta does? It adds a bit of weight to the creamy mint. I like this. It’s very relaxing and smooth – not what I expect with all that earthy puerhness… I guess the vanilla and licorice help to tone that down by adding a bit of sweetness. It’s a good thing I like licorice!
And the licorice in this is much nicer than it is in the chocomint oolong that came out this year.
ETA when this cools, the licorice really starts to dominate it the blend, so it’s best enjoyed warmer IMO.
Preparation
Yay for tea packages!! My friends all laugh at me but I have surprised a few of them with tea packages and I think they get it :)
Are you trying to convert them to loose-leaf? :) I made my sister a huge surprise package full of tons of tea – may 40 samples? And I sent her a Perfect Mug, and a 4 page instruction book full of tips on how to steep tea, store it, as well as a summary of each sample and why I chose it. It took her until the second page before she realized that I typed up the document – she thought it was from DAVIDs. (Which just made me feel uber-professional and awesome).
So yeah, tea packages rock!
My Butiki order should be in on Wednesday, so I’m drinking this down today. Now I’ve only got one Butiki tea in my cupboard! :O
I’m drinking this, looking at job ads, and watching Supernatural! This season (3) has Ruby in it, and so far I really like her. I also can’t wait to get to the end to see how they resolve everything.
Later I’m going to pack up some teas for Sil. Not sure when or how but I’m planning to see her before Christmas to do a tea swap!
Oh, also I really wish Steepster had a way to compare two people’s ratings – it’d be a lot easier finding teas Sil hasn’t tried if I could just hit a compare button. :P
I agree with the compare button, or at least something easier other than scrolling through pages and pages!
I’m so jealous you have this in your cupboard right now. Mine has yet to ship but I’m so looking forward to it!
Mine should be delivered tomorrow or Friday. I hope!
