493 Tasting Notes
I love wild teas of Dehong. i tried Light Roast, regular roast, Feng Qing Ye Sheng Hong Cha Wild Tree Purple Black tea Yunnan Sourcing offerings. i tried 2005 Wild Tree brick of Dehong (humid storage).
This puerh has some notes not found in other sheng. its sweet, nutty, herbal, smooth and delicious. Not bitter. Soup is bright yellow . it was a pleasure to drink for 2 days.
I got this sample from Mandala along with others because YS US site currently carry only sample size. they sold out on bricks. But Mandala still has them. I have to have this tea. its a must in my cupboard!
Preparation
This tea is a sample from very generous Steepsterite. Thank you so much.
I really really like it. It’s maybe hard to pinpoint all the flavors but its smooth sweet creamy some nice spice. It also aging well and has some orangish tint . I spent whole afternoon drinking it. And it’s a must in my exploded cupboard. I should pick it up on US site before it vanishes.

Western

this tea is great. its chocolaty and earthy, some spice and touch of smoke, just a bit. some people who dont like smoky teas should not be afraid to try it. Not much sweet potato detected, just tiny hint.
For some reason this tea reminds me (i could be wrong)

Im so glad i picked this tea on the legendary 50% sale in July. it was a join order and Marzipan made it happen.
Will pick it on next sale( i got 1oz size just to try)
Preparation
I have a sample of very generous tea friend on Steepster. I had it several times but didnt log it, couldnt find since this tea has another name 2010 Haiwan Ultimate Flavor (thats how its sold on ebay and Aliexpress).
Made it last night in my 120cc Yixing. Used 8g 212F.
rinse/pause/7/5/5/7/10 sec
Let me tell you. this tea is everything I love in shou: rich, smooth, chocolaty, dried fruits(my favorite). by 3rd cup i felt so sleepy, and 5th did the job. Slept 8 hrs straight. Perfect. Now i need to get me the whole cake.
PS will continue tonight, lots of life left;)
Preparation
Yes mrmopar, Dragon Tea House sells it. I found one on Aliexpress,$8 cheaper. Don’t know if I should get fr them or DTH? It’s like sleeping aid. 3 days in a row is not a coinsidence !
Try Berrylleb King Tea on ebay. Highly recommended. Most orders get here in about 10 working days. Good stuff!
boychik – you must refer to Grandness on Aliexpress at $22.95, right? She is fine as an aliexpress seller and a sale is a sale. The only down side is that it often takes 2-4 days for her to stock the item before she can ship it (the inventory she has an extensive listing but limited capital tied up in inventory). If you can wait a few extra days, it’s worth it. Also, I’ve picked up several Haiwan items from her and they’ve all been authentic as far as I can tell.
Yes, DigniTea. That’s the seller. Sure I can wait, I still have nice chunk left. Thanks for recommending!
You sent me the 2008 Haiwan Ultimate Flavor…do you know if it has another name as well? (Loving it right now, btw.)
Cheri, i got it as a sample as well as 2010. so if you dont mind make a new entry for 2008 , copy whatever for this one. i couldnt find an entry, but its the same tea diff year. its very good , i love them both. i have a great mentor supplying me with great samples ;)
It’s this one in the database Cheri.

i sipped on this tea all day yesterday. its very good smooth solid sheng. Bitterness only at the end of the sip. Quite sweet.
i do like it. Perfect everyday sheng, maybe not too complex. But arent we need those teas that we just enjoy and dont analyze.
Preparation
Agreed, I like some simple daily drinkers that don’t put me through the thought of “I need to save this rare tea.”
@tea123 yes, i got it from Tuocha tea. They have very good prices but my package took almost 3 months to arrive. I chose the cheapest ship. They were in transit during the summer ;(
boychick, have you tried 2013 yunnan sourcing autumn ye sheng before? It’s a great everyday sheng too
