518 Tasting Notes
YUM!
I haven’t had this tea in a while. It’s so tasty. Incredible aroma and taste.
I also haven’t written a review in basically a year. Ouch. It’s been a while. Sorry!!! (in my head, this was said with a Canadian accent.)
This tea is a little old, but I can’t tell as I’m drinking it. Just the right balance of malty in this one. I’m glad I broke it out this afternoon. It’s been a long time.
Preparation
My office is moving in TWO WEEKS! I’m trying to get things on my desk sorted out and thrown away where I can, because I will have about half the surface area and maybe a tenth of the storage space. While I was cleaning my desk off, I found a sample of this hidden behind a stack of papers that I was avoiding for months and months.
So I decided to throw it in my mug so I’d have something to enjoy while I’m sorting. (Because of the way my desk is set up, and where my mini tea tray sits, mugging just works better today. I also didn’t really have enough for a good gaiwan session, but this is enough for me to steep two or three times in my mug. That works for me.)
I’d forgotten how much I enjoy this tea. I have a cake of this at home, but I haven’t touched it in ages. I should pull it out.
This tea is rich and sweet. Earthy, but not too much. Easy drinking. Great flavor.
This was a second sample I got from Glen and Lamu. How nice of them!
When I opened the packet, I was amazed at how sweet this tea smelled on its own. And it really is. It’s probably the greenest tea I’ve ever had, and definitely the greenest sheng I’ve ever had. It tasted really green, but also sweet and kinda almost creamy. I really enjoyed it. It’s very energizing.

Oh this is yummy.
So, Glen and Lamu sent me a message a little while ago, asking if I’d like some samples in exchange for reviews. I’m always open to that, especially if the tea is good.
And boy, is this tea Goooood.
I wanted to take all kinds of pictures and such, but my phone decided this morning to take a crap for me. All locked up for hours before I sorted it out. While drinking tea. Good tea. It helps a stressful situation be less stressful.
Anyway, this tea. It’s rich and delicious. Sweet. Chocolaty. Tasty. Amazing. It lasted through several infusions. It would have lasted longer, but I was distracted at work on the second infusion, and instead of steeping for about 10s, it was more like 90s. Oops.
I’m adding this tea to my wishlist now. I’m sure I’ll order some soon.

I decided to have this one this morning, and I’m glad I did. It’s a nice, comforting shou pu. Rich and deep creamy in color. Enjoyable. I’ll definitely have this one again.

okay, this one I think is just a little too young for my liking. Maybe some humid aging would help it along. It’s on the bitter side, but not astringent. It does remind me of scotch, but I’d like it a touch sweeter, a touch less young. There’s some tobacco notes and something else I’m not sure what. It’s okay, but I probably wouldn’t drink this again for a few more years.

I did not follow the directions from the website. I didn’t even think to look until after I was almost done with this tea. I went for short and sweet.
It’s got nice flavor. I enjoyed it. It just didn’t last nearly as long as I would have hoped it would. Oh well.
I also apparently didn’t like this as much as everyone else reviewing it did. It was nice, but I’ve had way better shou.

This tea is really delicious. The first few infusions were a little bit bitter, but not in a bad way. Then the tea turned really sweet. Not really floral, but reminded me of floral. Definitely that kind of hay flavor though.

It’s been a while since I had this one. I had forgotten how much I like it. In fact, I think I like it more than I used to.
I had this over the weekend, one of the teas I brought with me to robots. Then I had this one again yesterday and today. I couldn’t taste anything at all yesterday, but somehow the aroma of this one got through my horribly stuffed nose. Really. Today, not tasting much of anything, I can actually taste this tea. Wow.
And now, I’m going to go back to sleep. Another nap is in order for me.
