Wonderful thick luscious shou. Rich with dried fruits, leather, some wood . Also detected some milk chocolate notes. So smooth and clean. Delightful. Really enjoyed after endless sheng sessions.
Many thanks to my generous tea friend. Your samples are always great.
Preparation
Fantastic tea. Deep red color, clear, thick. Smells boozy, dried fruit and wood aroma. For some reason reminded me Port wine
The price is great: $12 for 357g is excellent every day choice. As I’m drinking it has some drying qualities but nothing major.

6 g 100 ml gaiwan 212F

Thank you tea friend for helping me discover amazing and affordable teas.
Preparation
Sample from a very generous Steepster friend – thank you so much.
5g 100ml gaiwan 200F
rinse/pause/flush steeps
This tea is such bright yellow-orange color. Tobacco notes, slightly floral. its quite bitter but then some sweetness comes out later. i was surprised that this bitterness didnt bother me at all. Couple months ago i would just spit it out;)
I did like it and i plan to continue tomorrow. Thank you for the new experience, my tea friend. I’m learning everyday
Preparation
I love this tea, tin is gorgeous and a little rubber ducky is cutie.
It is the best of both worlds – Indian and Chinese teas. Bold, malty ,a little spicy, some smoke(pleasant, not harsh, and mostly dry leaves). It’s very balanced and once brewed very easy to drink (for me). Perfect blend.
people who dont really like smoky teas should not be afraid. its not that noticeable while you drink it. And you can always add some little maple syrup to bring it to a different level.
I have in the same family Two Tigers by DevoTea(discontinued). Love them both!
Preparation
I love the dry leaves aspect too, boychik! Weirdly, I get apples and cinnamon too, but I think that might just be psychological projection, ha.
This sample came to me from Terri – thank you so much. Turned out i didnt sample everything you sent me.
Made it western, 3g 8oz 205F 3min.
Tea is rich chocolate and bread from Laoshan Black and puerh, has some faint mineral notes of Dao Hong Pao. its balanced tea and i like it a lot.
Thank you Terri.
Preparation
i decided to enter this tea under Mandala as well as Yunnan Sourcing since Mandala currently carrying these bricks. They are sold out on US site but fortunately Mandala has them.
I love wild teas of Dehong. i tried Light Roast, regular roast, Feng Qing Ye Sheng Hong Cha Wild Tree Purple Black tea Yunnan Sourcing offerings. i tried 2005 Wild Tree brick of Dehong (humid storage) and i loved it.
This puerh has some notes not found in other sheng. its sweet, nutty, herbal, smooth and delicious. Not bitter. Soup is bright yellow . it was a pleasure to drink for 2 days.
Thank you Garret for having this tea . I have to have it, its a must in my cupboard!
Preparation
I love the Dehong teas at YS, i havent had this one tho, i still needs to try somemore Mandala teas too
i had it with breakfast. Today i decided to have @4min. I think its even better. More sweetness coming out. Some people are afraid of smoky teas which could be tamed with tiny bit of maple syrup(Sil and Terri, thank you for your advice). I didnt use any additions today . But i wouldn’t recommend you to have this tea on its own: either with food (cheese complements smoke nicely) or maple syrup.
Did i mention i started my 2nd tin of this tea?
