A bit sweet for me, but I really enjoy all of the flavours. I buy these when I go on hikes/picnics because they are only a dollar each.

drank English Breakfast Decaf by Twinings
2987 tasting notes

For some reason I thought I didn’t enjoy Twinings English Breakfast because I remember it being weak and bitter. I always take home the tea bags they give you in hotel rooms, even if I don’t like the tea, so that is how I ended up with this teabag. I didn’t enjoy it as much as Red Rose, but it was not bitter on the first steep and I thought the flavour was pretty good. It got a bit bitter on the second steep, but it was not unpleasant. I wish it was more malty, but I think if I had added milk, the tea would have been smoothed out a bit.

Overall, there was not anything that really stood out for me with this blend, but it certainly wasn’t bad.

drank Jasmine Petal by two leaves and a bud

I found the green tea used in this blend extremely pleasant. I have a difficult time finding green teas that I enjoy because so many are bitter, astringent, or too weak. Anyway, I love the green tea used in this.

The jasmine went really well with the green tea. I normally enjoy very strong jasmine teas but I actually really liked the subdued jasmine in this because it allowed the green tea flavour to how through.

First steep was 3 minutes in very hot water with one teabag in a medium size teapot. Second steep was more flavourful because i let it steep a four more minutes. Third steep was starting to be overly tannic. The second steep was my favourite, but I think if you played with the times a bit, you might be able to get three good steeps out of the teabag.

drank Peppermint Bark by Bigelow
2987 tasting notes

Quite minty without a lot of chocolate. I would have liked some creamy/white chocolate flavours. It is pretty good for a bagged tea, however I find the sweetness off putting. It tastes like an artificial sweetener was added which lingers as an after taste after you have swallowed.

I highly recommend trying this as a latte or as an iced tea rather than hot. I have tried it all three ways and liked the plain hot tea the least.

drank Crème Brulée by DAVIDsTEA
2987 tasting notes

I’ve bought this tea twice before, but I recently ran out and so I purchased a sample with the others I bought from Tea in Spoons. I have not had it in months, so I forgot how good it was. I love the sweetness of the rooibos base with the creamy brown sugar flavour. This also makes an amazing latte or after dinner “dessert”. I usually just keep the tea bag in and keep refilling the cup to make several steepings instead of timing when to take the teabag out. I love how forgiving rooibos is.

Flavors: Brown Sugar, Burnt Sugar, Cream, Custard, Milk, Rooibos, Sweet

drank Sweet Almond Green by DAVIDsTEA
2987 tasting notes

I am not going to rate this tea because I do not like marzipan and I feel like it would be unfairly low. That being said, I thought this tea had a strong nutty marzipan taste, over top of a mild green tea base. There is nothing artificial or “off” about the flavour, and I think all the undertones go really well together.

I highly recommend this tea to those who enjoy almonds and marzipan desserts because I do think this is a great blend. I expect I would have given this tea a very high score if it weren’t for personal bias. The sweetness is obvious, like what you would expect from blackberry leaves or an almond itself. This would make an amazing latte for those who take their teas with milk. The tea is also really strong so you only have to brew for 3 minutes. You can, however, keep the teabag in a bit longer.

drank Grilled Pineapple by DAVIDsTEA
2987 tasting notes

I got a sample of this from Tea in Spoons and I adore it! I’m going to buy a big bag of it as soon as I run out, because everything about it is delicious. I do not find the taste artificial like others do. It is a bit like genmaicha but with some pineapple flavour in it as well. It has a toasty and subtle sweetness to it, which I really like. The fruity pineapple has a really nice flavour, and it doesn’t have that astringent soapy taste that some pineapple/pina colada teas have.

drank Gold Rush by DAVIDsTEA
2987 tasting notes

I just received this sample in a package from Tea in Spoons (thank you so much!)

I still need to make this a few more times before I know for sure what I am tasting,. There are so many flavours. First and foremost, the tea is sweet and fruity, but not acidic. I taste a light tea with a lot of tannins but there is no trace of bitterness. I like the fruit and coconut with this tea base.

Flavors: Coconut, Fruity, Honey

175 °F / 79 °C 7 min, 15 sec 1 tsp 14 OZ / 400 ML

Bio

I am a biochem major hoping for a career in research genetics and evolutionary biology. I love science fiction and spend too much of my time reading comic books. I’m a passionate keeper of spiders, cacti, and exotic plants. I eat a vegan, plant-based diet for moral and environmental reasons (I mention this only because it is relevant to which flavoured teas I drink).

I drink mostly flavoured and low caffeine teas/tisanes, but I will try anything twice. As far as pure teas go, I gravitate towards whites, yellows, and jade oolongs. I’m always open for trades and sample sales/exchanges. Message me any time :)
