2987 Tasting Notes
This is my new replacement for the recently discontinued Cha Yen Thai white tea from Teavana. It is slightly different: more cherry, less anise, more nutty, but over well similar enough (and no caffeine!) I made three cups without loss of flavour, but the fourth cups was weak. Maybe I shouldn’t have left the teabag in, I think it could have done 4-5 if I had taken the teabag out. I’m just too lazy to remove it sometimes so I just let it stay in the whole time.

I received this for Christmas in a tin over the winter holidays and I’ve only had it a few times since. This is mostly because I’m not fond of the sickly sweet cinnamon. I know most people like it, but it’s not for me. I do enjoy cinnamon hearts and cinnamon (as in the spice), but for some reason this tea doesn’t do it for me. Anyway, I still like it with milk as a spicy latte in the mornings. It actually makes a decent plain tea or iced tea as well. I find it iced with a tiny bit of lemon/fruit juice balances out the sweetness. The chai spices work really well with the cinnamon, so I actually recommend this blend to others.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Spices, Spicy

Oh my, this tea is fabulous. I bought a cup of it iced and it was delicious. I really like the lemon curd flavour and there was definitely a cakey taste too. I read some other people found the lemon gave a tart/sour taste, but I didn’t find that at all. I really can’t find any faults in this blend, everything about it was delicious!
Flavors: Cake, Cheesecake, Fruity, Lemon Zest, Sweet
Preparation
I tried a sample of this when I stopped in to David’s to see if the Mother’s Day tins were in stock (they were out of stock.) I really like the ingredients of this blend. There are a lot of sweet, fruity, and cream notes, however I find the coconut overwhelming.
Flavors: Apple, Coconut, Fruit Punch, Fruity, Pineapple
Preparation
The peach smell in the dry leaves is lovely and the brewed liquid tastes almost the same as the smell. Intensely fruity and sweet.I dislike how tart the liquid is due to the hibiscus. It would have tasted much better with 1/2 the hibiscus in my opinion. I might try this again at a later date as an iced tea.
Flavors: Fruity, Hibiscus, Peach, Sweet, Tangy, Tart
Preparation
I really don’t get the hate for flavoured and baggaed tea. Some bagged teas are of lesser quality, but I don’t believe I’m a “bad” tea drinker just because I enjoy many flavoured and bagged teas over straight unflavoured teas. I also enjoy unflavoured teas also, but I like others too. I don’t judge people on whatever they enjoy drinking. The whole point is to enjoy what you drink. If that means you like fruity tisanes from DAVID’s Tea or bagged tea from the grocery store I don’t see the problem.
The benefit of grocery store tea is that the flavour is consistent and widely available. You don’t have to stock up and let it go stale. The pre measured baggies are convenient. The tea is usually cheaper, and some lower quality teas use a lot of smeller tea pieces/tea “dust” which steeps faster (also makes for strong iced teas).
You should continue to drink and review bagged tea if you enjoy them. :) I can even give you some suggestions/mail some samples to you.
I completely agree. I enjoy the wider variety available through loose teas, but I still appreciate the convenience and consistency of bagged tea.
I like the pu’erh based used in this tea. It has a hint of cocoa but is also woody (like bone-dry fire log) and sweet. The tea is quite tannic (even a bit astringent in the after taste) but I don’t find it unpleasant because it works with the chocolate. The dark chocolate flavour comes through really strong and it is very rich. This would be amazing with milk. I don’t get a ton of toffee flavour specifically, but I do find there is some vanilla or creamy tastes in there. Personally I think this tastes a lot like the liqueur Bailey’s/Mudslides. It tastes a lot like a chocolate liqueur to me. I intend to make this with milk and sweetener and serve it over ice next time I want a creamy cold drink.
Flavors: Chocolate, Cocoa, Creamy, Dark Bittersweet, Dark Chocolate, Tannic, Vanilla, Wood
Preparation
This is a very nice toasty, nutty, mellow tea. I do find it a bit weak and unimpressive unless it is steeped a bit longer. It is great on the second and third steeps, much more flavour. I find it starts t get astringent and a tiny bit bitter after that.
Flavors: Dry Grass, Nutty, Toasted Rice, Toasty
Preparation
I was surprised at how authentic the cotton candy flavour was. The rooibos is nice, although a white base would have been tasty too.
There is a lot of sugar cane/caramelized sweet flavours. There are some nice vanilla notes too. It is a sweet tea (which should be obvious because it is called Cotton Candy.) I really like this with milk or almond milk.
Flavors: Candy, Cotton Candy, Rooibos, Sugarcane, Vanilla

One of my best friends told me this is her favourite tea, so I was very glad to receive a sample of Toasted Walnut from Tea In Spoons. She told me I would love this tea because it is nutty and sweet, and she is absolutely correct.
The mellow green tea was a good base in my opinion because it allows the others flavours to show through. The green tea is not bitter or astringent at all, it is actually fairly subdued. The walnut flavour is excellent. The milky vanilla taste makes it seem like a latte even without adding milk. The nuts add a lot of toasted sweet flavours, almost like the pan roasted nuts put on top of almond roca.
I tried this tea straight and it was fantastic, but I wanted something richer so I added half a teaspoon of agave and a touch of milk. It was basically a dessert with all the vanilla and warm flavours.
I highly recommend this tea to anyone who likes vanilla/dessert teas or nut flavoured blends.
