From DAVIDsTEA

This fruity organic black tea is our ode to the blueberry. Long before the “superfood” era, blueberries were called “star berries” and renowned for their healing properties. Dark, sweet and plump, their juicy flavour comes through perfectly in cakes, jams – and this satisfying blend of black tea, elderberries, cornflowers and stevia. It’s the perfect companion to your morning toast.

Ingredients
Organic black tea, Organic black currants, Organic elderberries, Organic blueberries, Natural blueberry flavouring, Organic raspberry flavouring, Cornflower petals, Organic stevia extract.

Instructions
1-2 Perfect Spoonfuls of tea
475 ml (16 oz) of 95℃/200℉ water for hot tea or 295 ml (10 oz) for iced
Steep for 3-5 minutes

Not too sweet, REALLY smells and tastes of blueberries. Very nice, I’ll be buying a lot of this as a standard drinker.

I bought this tea because I love blueberry flavoured things, and DAVIDs Tea has rarely disappointed me. When opened, it smelt divine, and I had my first cup as is, no sweetener/sugar or milk/soy. The blueberry-preserve taste was a little overpowered by the black tea. I added to my second cup, a few days later, a little agave. Pure bliss. The agave seemed to bring out the preserve flavour quite nicely. And right now I am drinking it with a splash of milk and a hint of sweetener. It`s quite lovely, but the reviews are right – with milk added, it turned the most horrifying colour I have EVER seen in a tea.

I love this tea!! Smells amazing, tastes fantastic, almost exactly like blueberry jam! A bit of agave nectar and you’re good to go. I’d like to try this iced, and I’ve heard its good as a latte, so I’ll have to try it. You could probably eat the blueberries as is xD I like how it turns an odd color, similar to the green of the insides of a fresh blueberry.. or maybe I’m just going crazy. Anyways, its as awesome as it sounds.

Smells like blueberry and tastes like it too…mmm. This tea is full of flavor. Blueberry is a hard one to capture, but this is pretty good.

Smells like Special K blueberry cereal. Nice fruity fragrance and surprisingly strong berry taste. Its good, but not my jam. Probably the best blueberry flavor I have ever had in a tea though.

Shae Advent Day 19

Okay, this tea is delicious! The blueberry jam flavor is so clear and authentic. It’s not tart at all, just rich and tasty. This black tea is a perfect, supportive base for it. I’ve been drinking a lot of fruity black teas lately, and this one beats them all. It didn’t even need milk! The black tea sometimes dips almost into metallic tasting territory, but stays pretty good.

So, my tasting note number 900 is Roswell Strange favourite. I hope it delivers a nice cuppa; moreover my first one from DAVIDsTEA.

Shae’s ADVENT CALENDAR, December 21

Woo, DAVIDsTEA tea. Meh “Contains Stevia extract.” *sniffs It is like a blueberry jam indeed!

I took two teaspoons of blend and then added few extra berries from blend, as I thought there isn’t much of them in previous two teaspoons. Four minutes steeping was bit tricky, as I thought because it goes dark really quickly. But that’s the berries in I guess.

I had completely no expecations from this tea. I usually don’t use jams on my bread; but I like flavoured yogurts and I don’t mind berries at all. Blueberries are my favourite; they are nicely tart and sweet in same time, moreover Finnish ones were tasty (and nobody were picking them up) when I was there. But I digress.

A tea; after four minutes steep was very dark, so was the room though.
I took a sniff again and again it was indeed like blueberry jam. Seems yummy! First sip coated my mouth with all the blueberries, the base was somehow present too. Another sips were juicy and jammy, reminding me a jam I had few years back from Reddit Secret Santa, Condiments batch. I was adding it to the plain cream yogurt and even on its own it was delicious. So was this tea. And stevia in? Where? Yep, it’s bit of sweet, but I would expect that from jam, right?

I am impressed. I had somehow high hopes for this cuppa, maybe because I heard mostly good things about DAVIDsTEA teas and it was just right. Not a tea I would drink on daily basis, but if I will crave for berries, this delivers great.

Would you recommend this tea? You bet!

Courtney

Yay for 900! I hit 900 on Friday as well!

Martin Bednář

Courtney: but you are around for longer time, though inactive :D

Courtney

It’s true! I even started thinking over the weekend if I could get to 1000 by the new year, but I think that would be a bit crazy!

Martin Bednář

Thanks Nichole :)
Courtney, 1000 isn’t that far, certainly I could make it happen — but why?

White Antlers

Congratulations on 900! : )

Leafhopper

Congratulations on 900 tasting notes!

Martin Bednář

Thank you White Antlers, many were written because of your teas :) and Leafhopper always delight to see you being one of the first who “likes” my notes. At least I know they are written well :)

ashmanra

Congratulations on 900, Martin!

mrmopar

Way to go Martin!

derk

Martin movin’ on up.

Leafhopper

Martin, the fact that I’m one of the first to like your notes probably means I’m on Steepster too much. :D

Martin Bednář

ashmanra, mrmopar, derk Thank you! I spend too much time here too Leafhopper — I am surprised it goes so fast, but if I write two each day, then it’s 730 per day. And well, that’s a lot. I know I don’t have to write about every single tea session, but it keeps me calm and my English is being used at least :)

Martin Bednář

AAAANNNNDDDD noone of you wrote that I didn’t added a link to a photo! Here it is (and as well in note): https://flic.kr/p/2kjqaCS

Tasting this before adding anything and the stevia really jumps out at me as the single dominating flavor. After adding a bit of cream and honey (yes, even with the stevia), it’s pretty much heaven. Somehow those additions temper the artificial taste and bring out the delightful flavors of the blend.

Tiffany :)

I can’t remember if I have had this before or not? Probably since I’ve had a lot of DT. But it would be lovely to find a blueberry tea that didn’t have stevia. Do you have any you’d recommend?

Shae

The only one I can think of that is a blueberry black tea is this one:

https://steepster.com/teas/my-cup-of-tea-usa/92827-blue-suede-shoes-organic-wild-blueberry

I tried it in their sampler box and really liked it!

Martin Bednář

https://www.barharbortea.com/ have some blueberry teas as well, but sadly I have no experience with their tea.

Shae

Thanks, Martin! I’ll add this one to my list to try.

Martin Bednář

I have wrote them an email approx. year ago if they are able to share some samples with me (tea bags only) and they never replied. Shipping for me was terribly expensive.

Tiffany :)

@Shae and @Martin thanks, I’ve never heard of these brands you’ve suggested. :)

369 tasting notes on this already. I’m always late for the party hehe.

So some quick notes: After a rinse to wash off some stevia, it is a very nice berry tea. Lots of blueberries, hints of raspberry perhaps some passion fruit, black current. I noticed a wee little bit of earthiness in it. Recommended if you like berries. :)
