1373 Tasting Notes
2024 sipdown no. 78
This is a very pretty tea with bright red raspberry pieces throughout. I haven’t examined closely enough to find blackberry pieces, but I’m sure they’re there. The taste is slightly acidic, due to the berries. The tea itself gets a tad lost and the overall cup is a bit thin, but the quality of this blend is so high, it’s not bothersome.
Preparation
I brought this one into work and it’s been lovely. The lavender and bergamot are both at the forefront and the base is brisk, but not astringent. I think I’ve officially moved from being all about the EG cream, to a mix of EG and EG cream. I am definitely a bergamot lover now. I’ll miss this one when it’s gone.
Preparation
This is a complex and lovely tea. It tastes like a forest, but not just fir, all the things that could be found in a boreal forest. There’s a natural sweetness that is really amazing, a definite taste of blueberry and the fir is very much present. The other ingredients serve to add layers and depth to the cup overall. I might pick up a bag of this one in my next CS order. Thanks for sharing Cameron!

Thanks Cameron for sharing this one! There are a fair few ingredients here, and I can pick out thyme and (somewhat) mellowed mint but am unsure what the other ingredients taste like, so can’t comment there. The steeped scent is almost like lemonade, in a unique twist. This is a nice enough herbal.

When I first steeped this, I found the strawberry to be juicy and very true-to-taste. I’ve never been able to re-achieve that in any subsequent cup, sadly. The pu’erh base comes across as earthy – not offensive, but not my favourite. Thanks for sharing Cameron!

This has a distinct fruity smell and taste. I can’t identify it as plum, it’s almost grape-like to me. It’s definitely not generic fruit. The base is a bit finicky — a 2.5 minute steep was a bit bitter, while a 2 minute steep worked well. However, bitterness came forward as it cooled even with the shorter steep.
Preparation
2024 sipdown no. 73 Vanilla Coconut
The scent of this one is very welcoming, like a baked good. The taste is fairly decent as well with a definite coconut vanilla flavour. The base is a bit nondescript. I brought this one into work and easily drank down 50g.

It was the last cup from Cameron! I’m not sure if that’s offered regularly from Lupicia, but I would definitely order some for my cupboard if that were the case. :)

This tea is quite scented and reminds me of the raspberry in DF’s Coquelicot Gourmand. The flavour is more subtle than the scent, but the raspberry comes to the front and is realistic. There are hints of raw almond in the background as well. Overall a lovely tea (for ordering reference: I prefer DF’s version).
