6444 Tasting Notes
I made this iced and it actually has a really good watermelon flavor. I just don’t like that the green tea base comes through. It’s got a candied watermelon and some cucumber flavor which is really refreshing and would be awesome in the Summer. It’s also got grass clippings from the base, which is less awesome. Overall not bad. The rest is cold brewing so we shall see if that makes things better tomorrow.

With this tea finished, I have no more teas from 2017. Yay! So, now I need to work on my 2018 teas – as such, I moved the three blends I have from January 2018 into my focus box and my plan is to have a cup of one of those teas first each day and then I will enjoy my other teas. Hopefully it goes alright.
As for this tea, its a solid milk oolong. Always mellow and sweet. Touch floral but not overly so. It’s nice and I am always surprised by how much I enjoy it, even though I don’t really enjoy it often. I would consider ordering this again if I placed a What-Cha order but I just sleep on it too much.
Good job! Finishing all my 2017 teas has been a goal of mine for a while. I’m not there yet, but definitely getting closer!
Congrats! I didn’t keep a record of when I bought teas (though I have started now), so I suppose I’ll just count everything that I bought before as equally old. :P
I think I started my record keeping in 2017 so anything I didn’t have a date on was put as 2016 or earlier.

Thank you Roswell Strange for sending this my way. It was certainly a festive tea but not one I personally enjoyed. I was taking aback by its sweetness. It was grassy but really sweet and that just isn’t a pairing I’m personally here for. Fun to try though and definitely different.

This name of tea reminded me Karel Čapek’s War with the Newts. A great book!

I don’t know how their eyes tastes, though :D
Iced Latte Sipdown (260)
I thought this might work as an iced latte now that we finally have milk back in the house. However, this tea isn’t great and it really doesn’t taste like much in the latte. Got kind of a low quality black tea flavor and then icy milk. Oh well. I got this free and now it’s gone so no big deal that it wasn’t really good.
Have you tried the Necessities root beer tea? I’ve always wanted to order from them, but I’m hesitant because of the potential customs costs!
The NecessiTeas version is much better in my opinion. I don’t think I have ever paid customs on an order from the NecessiTeas but lately her shipping to Canada has been so crazy expensive that I route it through my Dad who lives in LA.
I’ve looked at their website a couple of times, but it seems like every time the majority of things are out of stock. That plus the price has kept me from ordering… :\
So she does restocks but is super frustrating about them because the last time she did a major restock, she delayed it last minute like 5 times and then I got on before she made the announcement that the teas were stocked and things literally ran out while they were in my cart and I was cashing out.
I am having a shitty day because I fought with my sister and so I have been staying to my room. I came out of my room to get food and wanted a latte but didn’t want to dirty the milk frother. I decided to make an iced latte and knew this was a good tea to have that way. Except after brewing it for a latte, I realized we still didn’t have milk in the house – which was supposed to be bought today but wasn’t for some reason – so I used what I did have, which was lemonade. It’s fine but not what I wanted and definitely not as good as an iced latte.

I remember chocolate digestives. It was the cookie my grandmother used to give us as a treat when we were kids so I was actually surprised when this tea did taste a little bit like its namesake.
I was worried because of the fenugreek and liquorice but everything works together quite nicely.
I don’t know if I would really reach for this a lot so it is not something I am looking to restock right now but I would certainly happily drink another cup if it was offered. And I would have enjoyed more if I had it. Just right now my stash is so much that I think this would get lost in the mix…sorta like it did for the past year.

Thank you Evol Ving Ness for sharing! With this being done, I’ve now finished off all the teas from our swap back in November 2017. Yay for finally getting to the samples!
This tea was better iced I think but it is better than I thought it would be hot. It’s similar to the iced tea in that you get the black base but also floral notes from the lychee. It’s floral like the fruit which is less offensive than the perfume quality most floral teas have. It’s a bit astringent and it’s not overly flavourful. It’s nice but a tea I am alright to not revisit.

I measured a sample of this out for Sil per her request and then realized I had just over a serving left. So this cup was overleafed but its still nice. I am not getting much raspberry which is weird since there were definitely raspberry pieces in the cup and Anne’s flavoring is usually pretty on point. I am getting a lot of the marshmallow and rice. This basically tastes like her original marshmallow treat genmaicha – which I am not mad at. With that said, I can just buy the plain version, which is one of the permanent blends so I don’t really feel bad saying good bye to this limited blend.
I’m sorry. I refuse to look at the site because I know I’ll find teas I want and I’m trying to not spend haha
@VariaTEA Please, never refuse to visit my site. It’s customers like you that keep us in business and if everyone refuses to visit our site and shop with us, then we won’t be able to make the teas you want anyway.
@Cameron B.: The original will be in stock by the end of November – We’ve been working hard to get the 12 Teas of Christmas done by our deadline (we’re getting there!) and once that happens, we’ll be able to focus on getting the D’s Teas replenished.
Dollar Tea Club? How was that?
It’s not bad. The tea isn’t the best quality but you get 3 teas (about 3-4 pftsps each) for $5.50 after you incorporate shipping and handling. There has been some good ones and some bad ones. Ultimately I would say its worth the money though.
I’ll have to remember it to try later. I have four subs right now, so I don’t really want to add another one! XD
