This one smells pretty yummy but I believe the hibiscus I’m smelling is tarnishing the actual strawberry rhubarb scent. But it steeps a really pretty red/purple colour!

I’m tasting mint and lemon and something else I’m not familiar with. This one’s pretty yummy but I’d have to be in the mood for minty to have it.

I love this one to help shut my brain off before I go to bed… I’m not normally into chamomile but this is forgivable.

Courtney

Hah yes the more I have the more I feel it may shut my brain off rather than back on for my last few pages of reading here.

TeaLady441

:p Good luck! It’s a good one the night before a test when you need to just chill out.

drank Jumpy Monkey by DAVIDsTEA
1373 tasting notes

Hmm smells like some sort of bizarre coffee. I had a mild ice coffee addiction in the summer (the joy of what spring AND summer courses will do to you), but the smell of this one isn’t really doing it for me.

Also getting a whiff (barely) of maybe bananas? I’m not seeing that in the ingredients. Just waiting on it to cool.

I am excited to be drinking this out of one of my many new mugs from DavidsTea since both my orders finally arrived today!

This one’s not for me. I’d just have coffee if I wanted coffee, rather than a coffee-tea hybrid.

TeaLady441

Yeah I know what you mean! Sometimes I feel like I’d be better off drinking cocoa too, instead of chocolate teas. Some hybrids just can’t compare.

Shmiracles

what kind of mugs did you get?! my roommates and tea guests all tell me how much they love my cups and mugs from davidstea. also i’m having this mate for the first time right now. and it’s definitely missing something.

Courtney

I got their “The Perfect Mug” with blue seagulls flying on it :) Reminds me of home haha. And also one of the Asian style mugs (neither are offered anymore) but I use the Perfect Mug always. I’m actually going to invest in another once some more summery ones come out :)

Shmiracles

i have 3 of the asian style mugs and i’m so glad i got them when i did. if i ever want to get someone a tea gift that’s new to tea i will probably get them a perfect mug . in fact maybe i’ll go order one for my sister right now.

drank Earl Grey Creme by Teavana
1373 tasting notes

Thanks ToiToi for sending me this sample!

Smells pretty good. Not nearly as strong as an earl grey so hopefully this one will sit well. Just steeping.

It was my birthday a few days ago and today my friend gave me my gifts – one of which was a Buddha board! So awesome (I even did a blog post on it!). I’ve been playing with it all night. I can see many study distractions in the future with this on my desk. Oh my.

I’m enjoying it more than pure earl grey for sure. But still not thinking it’s what I’m looking for in an earl grey. But I’m also not sure what exactly it is I’m looking for. Perhaps I’m just destined to try every earl grey out there.

Thanks haha :)

My grandparents got me the matcha essentials kit for Christmas so I had to try it out. I’ve only had matcha mixed in with green tea lattes (with coconut) at a shop at my school so this is a new experience for me.

Well I googled how to make a matcha latte and I followed the instructions (minus the milk frother – perhaps I’ll order one). It’s a grassy, earthy taste. I’m enjoying it but it’s different for sure. I added a wee bit of coconut syrup to my cup. Enjoying it a little more with the addition of coconut. I’ll definitely be trying out different ways of making matcha :)

TeaLady441

Sounds interesting! I’ve never tried matcha – I should see if I can get a take-home cup from DavidsTea to try it out. Good luck with it.

drank Earl Grey Cheesecake by 52teas
1373 tasting notes

These teas by 52teas smell amazing. Incredible. This is no exception. I only steeped this for for 2 minutes because lately every black seems bitter to me. It seems to have worked! I’m not getting any bitterness.

Thrilled the Earl Grey is not overwhelming. Actually the taste of this tea is much more subtle than the scent. I’m much more tasting the cheesecake and black tea – yay for little bergamot!

Thanks to Will Work For Tea for yet another awesome sample!

drank Milk Caramel by Lupicia

Thanks to ToiToi for sending me this sample!

This has a fascinating scent dry. I can’t quite nail down what I’m smelling. Just steeping now.

Yes it’s definitely a toasted scent I’m getting once it’s brewed. Not too sure I’m loving the scent (though compared to the Pineapple Oolong from earlier anything is welcome).

Hmm I don’t think this one is for me. The toasted taste just isn’t sitting quite right.

drank Gold Rush by DAVIDsTEA
1373 tasting notes

This smells so sweet dry and brewed. I’m enjoying this one. Kind of butterscotch-y and comforting (maybe the butterscotch taste is the mulberries?). I don’t know if I could drink this all the time but I may keep it on hand for when I do feel like a cup.

drank Pineapple Oolong by DAVIDsTEA
1373 tasting notes

Dry it smells like someone just cut up a fresh pineapple in my house. Pineapple is not my favourite – I like it, but I don’t love it.

Steeping it smells strangely like children’s grape Tylenol. That doesn’t bring back great memories. The scent of this one is turning my stomach but I’m trying to keep an open mind as it cools.

Nope this one isn’t for me. The smell is too much. I managed one sip and it tastes as it smells.

I didn’t care much for pineapple until I had a fresh, cup up pineapple. Tons better than the canned! I really don’t like canned fruit anyway..

drank Lime Gelato by DAVIDsTEA
1373 tasting notes

Ah lime gelato. My newest addiction in my permanent collection.

Seriously, I have got a love affair going on with this tea – and so unexpectedly. I am thrilled they talked me into this at DavidsTea. And they said it’s even better cold (Even better?! Is that possible?)

It’s just amazing. Not too sweet, not too sour-limey. Perfection.

I was just thinking that there should be more lime teas the other day! Lemon works, so why not lime?

Profile

Bio

I love black tea and this is usually what’s in my mug. I’m also happy to enjoy a cup of green or red rooibos, herbals, oolongs (unroasted/green and red preferable to roasted), whites, and subtly flavoured greens.

Likes:
Raspberry, strawberry, peach, rhubarb, passionfruit, blackcurrant, redcurrant, fig, and most fruits in general, maple, creaminess, hay, biscuit, lavender, and cacao/dark chocolate.

I enjoy bergamot when paired with flavours that mellow it (Camellia Sinensis Earl Grey Cream is one of my favourites).

Dislikes:
Any smokiness at all, stevia, too much blackberry leaf, rose, jasmine, ginger (except in chai), cinnamon-heavy teas, anything cloying or fake/candy-like.

I’m vegan with an allergy to potatoes, so I avoid any animal products in tea, along with sprinkles as these often have potato starch (I usually just pick them out of blends).
