From DAVIDsTEA

It’s not always easy to make healthy choices. Not when there are so many delicious things just waiting to be tasted. But with this fruity, berry-packed oolong, we’ve created the impossible: a super-healthy tea that also happens to taste amazing. First we took big pieces of strawberries, raspberries and currants – a.k.a. the original Super Fruits. Then we added a spicy-soothing hint of ginger root. Finally, we laced it with kombucha powder, an enzyme-packed detoxifier that in-the-know yogis have been sipping since the ‘60s. Groovy, man.

I really enjoyed tasting this tea in store. So much so that I used my points for a 50g pack for free. I could never make it the same way they did and I was very sad about that. I ended up giving the pack to my mother-in-law who loves oolong teas.

The initial smell of this tea is sweet and fruity but as it steeps the warm scent of ginger really comes to the fore. The flavour is an interesting one as initially I can taste the fruity strawberry flavour but the warm bite of ginger quickly follows. It’s an unusual combination but I think it could really grow on me.

I thought I was going to love this one. I imagined something really natural and zen tasting. Something that would help me be present and relax. Ok – maybe I had some high hopes.

In the tin it smelled like candy!

On my first sip, it was like what the hell is this? Ginger is definitely a major note. It reminds me of when I was really into juicing and I’d juice beets, following by large chunks of ginger to cover the horrible ‘dirt’ taste that beets have. Not a terribly pleasant taste.
After the ginger passes, I mildly taste strawberry. But not enough. My son was standing in front of me manging back a bowl of strawberries while I had this tea, so I grabbed a large piece and dropped it in. It upped the strawberry taste slightly.
I’ll also echo the other reviewers in saying it has a medicinal taste.

I’m determined that I can come up with a way to salvage this tea. Maybe ice it, and then float fruit in it. Maybe throw it in the blender with non-dairy milk and a handful of berries.

I find the best way to steep Yogi Berry is 45 seconds to a minute! Has more fruit flavours than ginger!

Jessimicka

Thanks DesireeAleece! I just tried steeping for 1 minute and it’s WAY better! I still don’t think I’ll be running out to buy more, but at least it’s palatable now.

I bought a sample of this tea simply because it smelled so strongly like Fruit Stripes bubblegum in the bag (an old favorite of my brother and I). It’s definitely sweet and strawberry, emphasis on the candy like flavors. It’s a fun trip to brew up a cup of this tea, but it certainly doesn’t seem super natural in the fruit flavors and lacks a bit of the earthy oolong foliage flavors. It was constantly sold out at my store after I bought that tiny sample, so I guess people are loving it, but it’s definitely more casual and sweet than deep or herbal. Maybe as good as a “bubblegum” tea as you’ll get? Just know that going in and you’ll probably be pleasantly surprised.

All of those crazy rumours about this tea are true. Don’t let the aroma of juicy berries from the dry leaf entice you. Once steeped, this turns into sugar-free fruity bubblegum with OVER 9000 tons of artificial sweetener gumming up the works. The leaves barely even resembled oolong either. How can you even call this tea?

Maddy Barone

I have sample of that in the cupboard. I haven’t read too many high rated tea notes on it. I should try it just so I can say I did.:)

VariaTEA

Thank goodness someone else tastes bubblegum cuz I thought I was going crazy

TeaBrat

DAVIDs TEA has so many horrible creations!

Fjellrev

Set the bar ridiculously low, Maddy!

And now I’m relieved that I’m not the only one to get bubblegum from this too. Horrible creation, indeed.

TeaLady441

Oh I totally tasted bubblegum. It got weird really quickly though, once it cooled.

Plunkybug

I agree, it got really weird when it cooled down. It’s like all the artificialness increased to a horrible ratio. I really wanted to like this one.

I’ve been dying to try this one for a long time now. It smelt so good in store and I like all the flavours in it. I honestly thought that I’d find it closer to Davidstea’s Strawberry Ginger, but obviously with a different base.

So I steeped this one up tonight and took a sip… Honestly, I’m not impressed… it tastes very medical to me… yuck! It’s almost like a fake strawberry taste or something. I’m just so disappointed by this one.. I don’t even know where to begin… my husband was even intrigued to try it after the smell of it, but after tasting it even he was disappointed.
I think I’ll see if I can find someone to give this one to.

I was sold by the cute logo on the front! A strawberry doing yoga? I can’t think of anything that more appeals to my sensibilities.

The tea is super yummy – different than anything I would usually pick out. I love the fruity taste and it smells like Fruit Stripe gum. Nice and relaxing, definitely feels good to sip a cup after doing some yoga.

Thank you Megan Low for this sample from our swap! I only now got around to trying it as I’ve been sick and everything’s been a little off – feeling less gross today so I think it’s a fair review. This tea smells really nice – like fruit and yogurt, there is a little bit of an artificial smell but overall very inticing! The taste doesn’t really match up to the smell, it’s still a nice oolong flavour and a subtle berry taste but I didn’t get the yogurty taste I was expecting. I mean it was nice and I’ll drink the rest of what I have but I just wish there was a little more to it. Thanks Megan!

Wasn’t feeling the best today, pretty tired and have a sore throat to the point were it was annoying! Based on everyone’s reviews i thought this would be the perfect time to try this tea. Good call for sure, I only bought about 10-15 grams of this one, just enough to try it but I will defiantly be buying some more to have on hand for future sore throats. I didn’t like the smell of this tea at all, even after it steeped I had to throw the leaves out right away. The taste was berry and delicious but I can see how some reviewers called it medicinal or almost like cough drops, soothed my sore throat perfectly. The caffeine was a nice pick me up to get me through the rest of the day a little easier.

I got 10g or so of this, because I was really nervous, given the reviews, but the smell in the store with the sample smelled intriguing.

I don’t know what to make of it. I’ll finish this cup, but I may set the rest aside and pass on at some point. But there is probably only one steep left and I might just save is and ice it.
