60 Tasting Notes
Today started out rough – so I went for my favorite comforting tea. It was light, soft, the white tea taste prominent. I always find this tea has notes of honey, just from the tea leaves themselves.
Flavors: Honey, Lavender, Lemon
Preparation
I absolutely love the smell of this tea. The grapefruit is so strong and bright.
The turmeric is also a really interesting addition, it the tea is a strong yellow, and it adds this additional depth to the black tea – without being overpowering.
Flavors: Grapefruit, Honey
Preparation
If you tasted this tea blindfolded, you would never be able to guess the flavors. Well, other than honeybush – which is really the only identifiable flavor.
This is essentially a vaguely fruity honeybush. You could tell me this was nearly any fruit, and I would believe you, the flavor is so indistinct.
As for the cheesecake component, I swear there is a bit an after tasted of cheesecake, but it is so faint I could just be imagining it.
If you are looking for a honeybush with a whisper of fruit and a hallucination of cheesecake, this is the tea for you.
(note i have brewed this twice, the 2nd time I made a double strength brew, the above still stands true, this tea is honeybush all the way)
This is an absolutely beautiful tea.
Don’t get the wrong impression from the name: this is not a sweet tea. Rather it is a beautiful mix of Shou Mei and Houjicha teas, with hints of marshmallow flavor.
The mix of white and green teas work perfectly, since the houjicha is a bit strong and roasted and the white is soft and smooth, the combination works perfectly. Not too strong to overwhelm the subtle vanilla, but with just enough rich toastyness to give it a ’toasted flavor.
Love it!
Preparation
A chocolatey oolong tea.
This is one of teavana’s better teas! The oolong is rich and strong enough to stand up to the cocoa and carob flavors. So the resulting brew is rich, with a chocolate flavor.
It doesn’t taste like chocolate or hot cocoa, it is more like cocoa nibs.
My only real issue with this tea is it does not fair well through multiple re-steeps. The first is great, the second also great, the third has barely any flavor. You also have to use a very large scoop of tea to get a decent flavor from it.
