55 Tasting Notes
Taking FULL advantage of the 1$ iced teas with my iced tea mug I got on sale and got this tea today! Luckily I LOVE coconut and coconut teas! The girl in line behind me sampled it and couldnt finish the sample because of all the coconut but that was right up my alley! The rooibos wasn’t to strong and the lavender was subtle but a really good addition to the tea. Not sure if I would like it hot but definitely have to buy some to brew it over ice myself!
Also the free sample of their new peanut butter cup tea was a nice surprise :)
Flavors: Coconut, Lavender
If any of you follow me on instagram – you may have noticed that I’ve been doing field work this summer in the middle of nowhere . Anyways, work finally ended and I got to come back home and the first thing I did was visit Davids haha.
Got this one and a bunch of their other summer teas. So nice iced! Coconut with a bit of chocolate. Kind of reminds me a little of chocolate macaroon! Anyways, glad I got 60 grams of it and that Newfoundland finally has some hot weather for me to enjoy some iced tea in! Its a balmy 25 feels like 35 today wipes sweat off forehead
Flavors: Cocoa, Coconut
I’m baack. Again. Sigh. Real life is hard, how do you all do it?
I’ve spent the last few days finishing off my reviews for the Red Leaf sponsored matcha testing and I really needed a nice black tea to go back too (I’m seeing green in my sleep). I got the sample from Teavivre a while back so I thought this would be a good time to sit down, work on some school work and drink a good black tea.
This one smells amazing, its got such a nice dark amber colour to it and such a nice taste. It has a subtle sweetness with chocolate and honey notes and some more subtler maple-y and nutty notes as you sip it down more and it cools. Definitely one of my top straight black teas (y)
Flavors: Chocolate, Honey, Maple, Nutty
Alright steepster – so here’s the deal. I’ve been using you to procrastinate since the beginning of the semester and I’ve finally gotten my act together enough to stop tea-creeping and actually study, hahaha.
I went to starbucks last night for a study break and got this one hot with a bit of honey since of course I’m starting to feel sick. And its soo nice! The smell is amazing and it tastes just like it smells. Mostly minty but with citrusy notes. I steeped for ~3 minutes and then put the bag in my iced water just because I didnt have anywhere else to put it and this is EVEN BETTER! And I got a second drink out of it for no extra cost whoop whoop!
Cold it kind of tastes like a mojito, and its really nice on my sore throat right now!
Last final exam is tomorrow, and then I have to complete my last paper before I start my field school.
It never ends. ;)
Flavors: Citrus, Lemongrass, Lime, Mint
Big thanks to meakbot for sending me the rest of hers – I was down to my last two tsp and didnt want to use whats left so yay for more of this tea!!!
I’m currently writing two term papers with another one that I have to start in the next day or two. yay. such excitement. woo…
This tea is still just as nice and sweet and creamy and milk 100% makes this tea for me. Its getting me through these tough late nights.
Not much of a tasting note, hey? Sorry, my brain is fried…
UPing my rating of this tea just cuz I’m in that kind of mood.
Flavors: Creamy, Mint, Sweet, White Chocolate
(Edit: Whoop whoop! 50 tasting notes!)
Okay so apparently I’m just plain wrong about chocolate teas because this is another really really good one.
Went into DT yesterday for my free cup with the full intention of getting an oolong when I spied the CM chocolate bar on the counter… and it just called to me.
So so good. Actually, probably my favourite coconut tea so far – nothing artificial to me and a nice dark chocolate taste – but not over powering and doesnt leave my cup greasy.
Suppose I’ll have to go pick up some loose leaf later on because I’ve been craving it ever since!
Flavors: Coconut, Dark Chocolate
As someone who generally really dislikes chocolate in their tea… I surprisingly love this tea!?! It was quite out of the norm for me to buy this as I don’t drink mate (not as a rule or anything, just nothing has ever appealed to me) or chocolate teas, the smell of this one was what got me. Chocolate and raspberry. And it tastes exactly as it smells which is a bonus as that is rarely the case.
Anyways, a lovely tea to have on this snow day here on the east coast as I try to write two papers by the end of the semester groan.
Flavors: Chocolate, Raspberry
Oh steepster, it has been too too long.
So for some reason I couldn’t find this tea in the database? Anyways, thanks to some of your suggestions I visited Tealish while in TO for the week! Holyyyy I love this place, so nice and light and open and the teas smell sooo good. Unfortunately you can only buy them in 50g or more, so I had to make sure I got some good ones!
So this tea – nice and sweet. I definitely get the banana bread taste – more so the smell of it, but the banana is a pretty subtle taste.
I wish it was a more prominent banana taste – but overall nice and I can definitely make my way through this 50 grams :D
First off – thank you Ost for the generous sample of this Butiki treasure!! I have been cheating on tea with coffee this past two weeks to get through midterms so when I got this in the mail today – I literally could not wait to try it, haha!
As a Doctor Who & coconut & banana fan I had been wanting to try this tea since I’ve heard of it and it did not disappoint. Mind you, I underleafed this one a bit because I want to hoard what I do have (it will be a sad, sad day when this is a sipdown) I think it gave a nice flavour!
Nice and sweet and light. A realllly lovely coconut flavour mostly with a bit of nutty/ creamy undertones. I don’t get the banana that I’ve seen noted in some tasting notes (womp womp) but that’s totally okay because this is SUCH a nice coconut tea! The hunt for a great banana tea continues!
Thanks Ost! I’ll be sad to see the rest of this go! :)
Flavors: Coconut
Preparation
Snow day for me means sitting at home, cramming for the exams I now have tomorrow and trying new tea! (yay?)
I ordered this in my final good bye send off ohmygodineedtobuysometea order from Butiki. I have no idea if it’s just me but I am not at all getting the plum flavour that everyone else is getting. To me it just tastes like a nice black tea with some nutty undertones.
I tried even adding a bit of sugar because I thought the sugar might bring out the sweet fruityness that should come from the plum… no dice.
Perhaps I’ll try it again tonight, but for now – kind of disappointed :(
But hey – it still is a nice tea, just not what I wanted.
Flavors: Nutty
