6444 Tasting Notes
Another sample snagged from Sil. Thank you!
Salted caramel is always appealing to me but I’m so off pancake teas that I decided to skip this one. Also I knew Sil was getting it and she’d let me try it.
The dry leaf smelled deliciously caramel. Drinking it though, it leans more strongly into the pancakes side of things than caramel. For me, that’s a plus because it means I don’t need to place an immediate order for more of this.
My Dessert by Deb ordered arrived today and it was so exciting because it was my order and my sub box and wrapped with so much love. Part of it was literally gift wrapped and it just makes for such an amazing experience! I planned on taking pics but I was so excited I ripped through everything before I did. Oops
Part of the order were teas for Sil and teas for Roswell Strange. They both grabbed this tea and while I was curious, I didn’t want more than a sample. I snagged a cup from Sil to try so thank you, Sil!!
It’s a nice tea. I don’t know if it screams pear so much as just a generic and soft orchard fruit note. It also has turmeric but it’s subtle and alright. Overall, it’s fine but it’s not for me.
" I planned on taking pics but I was so excited I ripped through everything before I did. Oops" lol! This is so relatable! It reminds me of when I eat all the food before taking pictures, lol! Which is so sad since I love looking back on photos!
And I loved this one as well! Very turmeric heavy, slightly sweet, but it tastes super fresh.
Also, I think I didn’t expect it to taste much like pear? >.< I couldn’t imagine that since turmeric would mask the taste. Maybe if the tea was like pear and cranberries?
I think the pear just adds a sweetness to it, and is a nice diversion from apple. But I think most pear teas use natural/artificial flavourings to get it to really taste like pears? :)
Stovetop Latte Sipdown (296)
For the first time I made one of these Vahdam chais on the stovetop. It’s a lot better. So creamy and combines well with the spices. It’s smooth and flavourful and just a nice mix of spices. My usual latte prep method waters these chais down and doesn’t bring out the flavors well so I guess going forward these will be strictly stovetop.
Finishing the last half of my advent package of this matcha, though I picked up a tin on sale so I have more in my stash. I dumped this directly into milk which I was warming in the frother. As a latte, it really is like pumpkin pie – creamy, rich, spiced, delicious!
Roswell Strange was so nice to send me more of this delicious tea. I have been loving the Salted Caramel Oolong from DAVIDsTEA as a latte ad so I wondered how this would compare. However, this is a French take on that flavor and thus is more of a gentle flavor than the more in-your-face version made by DAVIDs. That means as a latte, this one is almost a touch bland. It’s like a buttery milk oolong with whisps of caramel. Though its a softer caramel. So as a latte, the DAVIDsTEA version is much better. Should be interesting to try the two side by side plain and thanks to Roswell Strange I have one more serving of this available for that. Thanks Roswell Strange!
I love having this one as a latte! It surprised me how nicely the popped rice complimented the tea and added a nice saltiness to it
I like that i’m like thanks sil? riiiiiiiight forgot about those
@Silent Kettle, Deb definitely recommends it as a latte so I could see that being nice.
@Sil, I am stealing from you before its even in your possession lol
oh i get that…i just have NO recollection of what i picked up besides a lot of flavoured blacks haha
