6444 Tasting Notes
I don’t usually reach for this because of the rooibos base. In fact, this package is from December 2018 and it’s still sealed. Yet, now that I am having it, it is clear my fear was unfounded. Interestingly enough, my tasting note from the package of this I owned previously says the exact same thing.
This tea has an excellent bready/pastry quality that is reminiscent of the doughy balls of deliciousness that can be pulled off a fresh and warm monkey bread. It also has a great cinnamon sugar sweetness. It actually is NAILING monkey bread flavor, even if caramel isn’t screaming at me. I am quite pleased and am glad I have more of this to sip on. Upping the rating slightly from 74.
So normally I just dump a bunch of davidstea matcha into my morning smoothie and today I reached for this instead. However, I forgot this isn’t quite as sugared as davidstea so when I dumped the usual amount it ended up being a shitton of matcha and a whole lot of actual matcha flavor. As such, I had a fairly grassy smoothie, which is not what I hoped for but oh well. Thanks Roswell Strange for sharing this one. I will use a lot more care next time I make it.
Sipdown (287)
This came to me via Roswell Strange as all these Floragold teas do. Thank you for sharing!
This is meant to be raspberry apricot and like Roswell, I got absolutely no apricot. I did get raspberry though, sorta, but mostly it was hibiscus/berry. No chalky taste like Roswell got at least. It was okay but nothing special.
This has been sealed since December 2018 and something is a bit off. I wouldn’t say the coconut is rancid but something is weird. In particular, there is a sharp metallic note that cuts through this. Then I get coconut and some spice. It’s not a favorite if I am being honest but I will try it as a latte and see if I like it better that way before fully writing it off.
Sipdown (288)
Finishing the last of this sample from Evol Ving Ness. Thank you!
This is so old that the last time I had it, it was the day Harry married Megan. So, when I grabbed it out of the sipdown box, I figured it was about time.
There seems to be nothing special about this tea. It seems to be a standard earl grey. It’s fine but it’s also pretty forgettable. Nevertheless, I am grateful for the chance to give it a try.
I made raspberry lemonade cupcakes because I’ve been watching two broke girls again and they have a cupcake shop so I’ve been craving cupcakes. Alas, the cupcakes were a lot of work and not really my/my sister’s finest work. They are raspberry lemonade flavor but don’t have nearly enough raspberry or lemonade flavor, especially for all the work involved so not a recipe we’re keeping.
Also, I was sad because the buttercream broke so they didn’t look that nice either. However, I still decided to feature one in my photo so this tea seemed to a good choice for my tea of the day. However like the cupcake, there is not much raspberry or lemon. Mostly green tea base. I cold brewed the rest so hopefully that’s better.

Ahh okay. I’ve been wanting to try to make Earl Grey cupcakes for a while now but I don’t know how to go about it!
