Cold Brew Sipdown (270)

Cold brewed this in milk for 8 hours since I only had the one teabag. The combination of chocolate and spice is making this taste like a fudge brownie. It’s rich and flavourful but with the tiniest kick at the back of your throat. This was a good way to finish the teabag. Upping the rating from 54.

I thought I had 50 grams of this but turns out I had 6 g so that was a fun discovery.

I wanted to revisit this to see if I wanted more of it though it doesn’t seem to be on the davidstea website anymore other than in sampler sets. While this smells as awesome and vanilla pudding-y as ever, it’s a lot more oolong than vanilla. Plus, it’s got a bit of a twang to it that hits at the back of the throat. I think that’s likely due to overleafing since I didn’t have enough for another cup. As such, while this is always a nice tea, it’s one I am content to say goodbye to.

I asked Roswell Strange earlier about teas she suggested for iced lattes. She mentioned this one. Then I was looking at my pictures on Instagram and a latte with whipped cream caught my eye so I decided to make one of those with this tasty, tasty blend. Once again it is making an awesome latte so yay!

When I won the Instagram giveaway a couple months back for teaware, I picked up a small glass teapot. It’s partially frosted but I’m used to the DAVIDsTEA Nordic mugs where you often can see through the frosting when heat is added. Because of that, I now have a failed time lapse of this blooming since the bloom is obstructed by the frosting. It was very pretty though.

In addition to being pretty, this filled my kitchen with the smell of honeydew which was quite promising. However, drinking it, there is some honeydew but mostly the base tea which is really buttery but a touch bitter. That bitterness trends towards drying floral. Perhaps that’s on my steeping though as I left this for 5 mins in 80C water.

This is the second of the two Numi teabags I snagged from the office last year and I am not a fan. The combination of pithy orange and cinnamon is not a good one. Most of this went down the drain.

I opened the package for this teabag and then quickly regretted it because this was never really all that great to me and I realized I should have set it aside to send to my friend who might have appreciated it more than I do.

Anyways, the package was already open by the time I thought that so here I am drinking it and it’s fine. Just fine. It’s got apricot but it’s muddled up with other flavours which are distracting. I’ve had it several times now and while it’s an alright cup of tea, it’s nothing special.

Thank you Roswell Strange for the share but this tastes like DAVIDsTEA’s Sleigh Ride and given I didn’t love that, I’m not a huge fan of this. There’s a quality that Forever Nuts and other blends like it have that I enjoyed once and then for some reason just turned against it and even the smell was off putting. Sleigh Ride and similarly, this tea, fall into that category so while it’s fun to try new things, this was more like revisiting a tea I didn’t enjoy.

Perhaps it is my prep method or perhaps it is the 1% milk but I find that my iced lattes are almost always thin. This one is alright but a lot more black tea and pumpkin spice than sweet caramel flavor.

Finished this off while watching the final episode of Upload. It really is a whole lot of sweet, sweet honey flavor coupled with only some maltiness. So simple. So good. Thanks Cameron B for sharing!
