184 Tasting Notes
Not feeling it today. I can taste a little of everything, but there’s just no contrast. It’s a fine tea, and makes me think of a nice cupcake, but even in a cupcake, you still have some contrast from the cupcake (which, thanks to my chocoholic daughter, are usually chocolate). This is just the frosting.
Preparation
I wanted to try a base white tea…I always have white tea as a base for something else, and never had it by itself.
I liked the nice light flavor. This is a tea that I would like to drink straight, but also in flavored teas. It seems I like the extremes…strong (like English/Irish Breakfast), or delicate (like white).
Preparation
I wanted something like my beloved Twinings Irish tea bags. I thought this was a pretty good substitute…nice and strong! I think I may have oversteeped a little bit, because I could taste bitter, but it was nice and strong!
Preparation
This is one of those teas where I think the smell is just too strong and powerful, but the taste is different. This is a seasonal tea for Souvia, so I decided to splurge a little and try it. I’m a big fan of liking how a tea smells, but like I said, I thought the smell was just overwhelming. However, I bought it anyway (and the minimum is 50 g, so it was a little bit of a gamble).
The tea brews up with an orange hue. The taste is weaker than the smell (so it looks like it was a good gamble!). I can taste the ‘fall’ in this autumn tea. I can taste cinnamon and a variety of the other spices. It’s not just a chai though…I can taste the orange and a bit of the almond.
I think the tea blends well together. I don’t know how long it is going to take me to drink 2 oz of this, though…probably forever. :)
Preparation
I must have overleafed my first tea of the day, so I threw it out and put this one in. What an all-around nice tea. It is just so soothing…I have a lemon chai when I want lemon and a nice kick in the pants…this one is like eating a lemon cookie. Well…drinking one. You know what I mean. :)
Preparation
4 minutes the first time I tried it, 3 minutes the second time.
I can smell in the dry leaf, like an apple vinegar type smell. It smells acidic, but it doesn’t end up tasting that way. Usually, I’m not the biggest fan of apple in teas for precisely that reason. However, this tea doesn’t overdo the apple taste. There really is a blending of the pumpkin, apple, and banana. The banana comes in at the end of the sip. A very nice subtle autumn tea. Now, if the weather would only cooperate…still in the mid-90’s here!
Preparation
I just started getting the subscription for 52Teas, now that the packages are smaller, and if I don’t care for something, the money spent on it isn’t as large as it was before.
I do like this tea. I think it is missing some contrast between the light, sweet white tea and the flavors. The buttercream comes through very, very well, as it is a different flavor other than SWEET. A black base would have overpowered the flavors, and so I think the white base is appropriate for this tea. I might have gotten some toffee flavor, but this tastes just like buttercream frosting to me.
Preparation
Had this tea as my ‘I just got to work and need to keep my eyes open’ tea instead of my usual Irish Breakfast. I do like this tea, and will need to get more of it when I run out (which is going to be soon).
I can definitely taste the chocolate, which is not cloying and thick like chocolate can sometimes be. I sort of taste the chilis, but I don’t think they are hot. It’s more like a counterpoint to the chocolate. I think this blends well together, and is a good fall tea. I just wish our weather (it is still over 100 here, but going to be in the 90’s next week) would cooperate a bit.
Preparation
Had this tea this morning after my usual Irish Breakfast. I like how this tea has the chai spices, but also the mellowness and sweetness of the vanilla/caramel. When I want something that still has some contrast, but not quite as bold as a straight up chai, this is one that I reach for.
Preparation
It had been a while for this tea, but after drinking Irish Breakfast every morning, I wanted something a little lighter. This doesn’t have any actual tea in it, and it fit the bill quite nicely. A nice nutty, fruity, cinnamon-y tisane that was refreshing after the bold Irish Breakfast tea.
I have been drinking tea much more lately. I think there is some sort of internal clock that tells me that fall is upon us, yet it is still 100 degrees outside and hotter than most people’s summer. I don’t know what it is…but I’m happy to clean out the cupboard to make room for…well…more tea!
