bleh. I forgot that this didn’t do so well with a dash of milk and tried it as a cold latte, in my blender with some ice.
It was purty nasty, so I added some strawberry and now it’s drinkable. Should have added real strawberries as well…
Funny thing is, I’m almost out of this one, and will probably end up buying more to have as a hot latte mixed with other flavours… and of course in my smoothies. I looooove the cheesecakiness in my liquid fruit. Mmmmm.

Bananas are bullies. Yep. I’ve added this to my smoothies before, but today was the first time where I removed the banana entirely. Today, it was just almond milk and pear. And oh boy did it ever make for a creamy cheesy delight! Kindof stale tasting, but only on the occasional sip, and that could be the almond milk.
A spoonful of sugar seriously punches it up.
I’m not sure if this one is worth re-ordering, but my experience today certainly has me questioning that!

This one confuses me. It does not taste like cheesecake! more like milky cheesey candies? of a thick creamy nature.
The aroma puts me off a little, especially when made hot. Definitely not for me when made that way. Shaken bottle method it isn’t so bad. Better, but not by much.
The scent is somewhat stinky, like aged cheese, so I really don’t wanna know what it tastes like with milk. I added some the first time I made this so that could be why I found it so horrid.
BUT all is not lost. I’ve discovered that it mixes really well with strawberry, and I am guessing it will do the same with Peppermint.
In fact, with my strawberry, the tartness seems to be enhanced, yet the creaminess is deeper than with plain strawberry as well. I’m impressed, to be honest. It’s raised my opinion of this one significantly.
In fact, I may repurchase this with a better base. That could be what is throwing me off as I find that I enjoy the Royal base much more.
It should also be noted that I’m very particular about my cheesecake. My Aunt makes this “diet” cheesecake because it uses cottage cheese or ricotta, I can’t recall which, and I just love it.
The thicker, dense creamy type, well I somehow never got around to liking it. Something about the texture and intensity just bugs me. Anyhow…
This one has the Basic base, Robust flavour level, and it was a size small. If you want to order some up, get it here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/cheesecake-matcha.html
As for my rating, it goes like this:
made hot with a dash of milk… 60
made shaken bottle method with a dash of agave… 73
made hot with strawberry and a dash of agave… 85

I am in a ridiculously good mood right now. I’m not sure if it’s the super ripe and sweet peaches, the uber decadent avocado, the matcha, or a combination of all three but oh myyyyyy am I happy girl! It was so freakin YUMMY!!! (certainly was not the milk and water I added haha)
Well I am a little sad because my smoothie is finished already. They disappear so quickly!

It’s been awhile since I had a matcha, made the regular ol’ way. Lately, it’s been shaken bottles and smoothies.
Upon realizing that last night, I immediately dove for my strawberry matcha, because all of a sudden I had the most undeniable neeeeeed for berry goodness in a cup!
No additives needed, it was super sweet on it’s own. So very tasty. I love that it’s tart strawberry made this way, and campino candy via shaken bottle! Definitely one I will want to replace, but there are so many other flavours I’d like to try… what ever shall I do? (answer? order more matcha!!)

ashmanra

This is definitely going on my next order!

Indigobloom

So worth it Ashmanra! you won’t regret it :D

Wowsa this is great! Hot, it tastes like strawberry candy, the creamy kind with swirls in in. What were they called again? I’ve forgotten! Sweet and jammy. I did need to add some agave though.
Cold, I get more fresh tart fruitiness. Lovely :)
Overall, I definitely prefer it shaken bottle method. The tartness has just enough zing that it reminds me of eating those wild baby strawberries, and thus it reminds me of my Aunt’s cottage, where I used to find them sprinkled alongside the path leading towards our lake. Honestly, they taste JUST like that, only better because they were often a little too sour! heh.
Next, I really wanna try this as a latte. I’m not one for soy milk, but I think the flavours would go really well together. In my head, it will be the perfect latte! Oh and with peppermint as well. That is the combo I look forward to trying out most :P
Oh yah, I did mix it with butterscotch at one point. It was ok but I think I prefer those two when made separately. Dunno why but I do!
Anyhow, in this order I got Basic grade, Robust level flavouring, small size. And a tin. Always go with a tin.
If you want some for yourself, go here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/strawberry-matcha.html

Uniquity

Campino candies! I wish I got the same taste from this as you did. Maybe I’ll try it shaken at some point. : )

Indigobloom

sorry to hear you didn’t like it! kindof how I feel about the cheesecake one. Dreading that review…
maybe this will blossom for you when shaken :)

Sipdown 2020! 26/365

Finished this off yesterday – a more pleasant experience than the Cheesecake! I did quite like this flavour, but I’m a sucker for caramel/toffee-flavoured things. Yum.

Had a nice latte of this the other day, but when sweetened with maple syrup it’s really hard to detect any English Toffee. It was yummy, though.

Drank some of this yesterday. It was fine, but honestly, when it’s sweetened it’s so hard to tell that any flavour has been added.

I ordered this one with “delicate” flavouring and the standard base, as I figured that since I loved the caramel with delicate flavouring, that was probably enough flavouring for english toffee as well.

The aroma is quite similar to that of the Caramel matcha, which, given my love of that one, is completely ok by me! However, it makes me wonder whether I’m going to be able to notice any differences between the two. I decided to make a cold latte using mostly regular milk (instead of my usual almond), and sweetened it with maple syrup, as that’s still the only liquid sweetener I have available!

Initially, I couldn’t really taste “English Toffee” per se. It definitely was a tasty latte, but I would have been hard-pressed to identify it over a caramel latte, or probably butterscotch. However, I left it sitting in my car for a few hours while at Oktoberfest, and when I had a sip of it while driving home, I tasted the unmistakeable flavour of toffee! Delicious! Perhaps it just needed to sit a while. I didn’t want to finish it that evening as I wanted to be able to sleep, so left it in the fridge overnight, and it’s just as tasty tonight.

I don’t think that this one will bump caramel out of being my favourite RL matcha flavour, but it’s definitely quite tasty, and a winner for me! It can be found at http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/english-toffee-matcha.html

This matcha + belgian chocolate matcha = a less artificial tasting even chocolatier wonderful matcha smoothie :) it’s a good morning even if it is T MINUE 2!!!! BLAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!1

Indigobloom

omg I’ve been trying to figure that out. This one + almond really didn’t do any good :/

Sil

this one + french vanilla works too… cheesecake might as well.

Sil

mostly i’m just trying to finish drinking it. not my fav and likely not a repurchase :(

Indigobloom

I’ll try it with Cheesecake. I haven’t got any vanilla. Hmmm. Maybe peppermint.

76

So i’ve figured out that a splash of french vanilla matcha helps take the artificial taste out of this matcha and improves it significantly. This isn’t a bad matcha but i likely won’t reorder in part because of the artificial taste i’m getting, but more so because there are other flavours that i love a whole lot more :)

Indigobloom

Oooh, I don’t have vanilla… but I wonder if cheesecake or almond would do the trick!

Backlogging! Had this in smoothie form and immediately regreted it lol. Don’t get my wrong, it’s a tasty matcha but it’s one of those flavours that I will always want to drink hot. Cold just isn’t happening :)

mmmm so i made this one cold today after last night’s latte. I have to say i think i prefer the latte, though the cold isn’t too shabby. I made this one a little on the strong side so the raspberry’s is a bit more intense and there’s a hint of artificial to it. Still a delicious concoction for this afternoon’s cleaning!

Last Matcha review for today!
My matcha order was the following:
Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Robust

So I have to say i was curious to try this in part because of how much I love the raspberry truffle from Butiki Teas. Matcha is a whole different ballgame but I was curious as to how they’d be different. This matcha smells HEAVENLY! It actually smells the way that raspberry truffles do when you buy them in shops that make them fresh.
I made this one as a hot Latte, though I’m curious as to how it will blend in a smoothie as well. This matcha is fabulous! I’m not sure whether i like this or the black cherry better – cheesecake and caramel are still my favourites. This though, is that raspberry that blends with the chocolate that isn’t the waxy type of chocolate that makes me hate chocolate. I’m really glad that i went with the robust in this matcha as it’s the kind of taste that says HEY! EAT ME! :)

I really do want to thank Red Leaf for their matcha program, even though it’s new incarnation will be a bit different. I don’t think i would have tried as many matchas if they hadn’t had a great program. I probably would have stuck to consistently ordering 2 of the same kind. It’s flavours like this that make me want to keep on trying all of the flavours until i’ve had them all.

Raspberry Truffle you make my heart happy for the delicious taste of raspberry and chocolate together!

drank Tiramisu Matcha by Matcha Outlet
4843 tasting notes

OhMyGawdOhMyGawdOhMyGawd! I figured I’d like this one but I was in no way prepared to like it this much. This is awesomeness. Pure awesomeness.

I can’t eat Tiramisu. Why? Because it’s made with coffee. Did I mention that I love tiramisu? It’s so yummy. One of my favorite desserts. But, in case you’ve already forgotten, I can’t eat it. Coffee is the evil of my life. It makes me sick. Even when I eat something with coffee in it. I can enjoy coffee flavors, no problem. But if a food or drink is made with actual coffee … I get sick. So, it’s hard to really enjoy tiramisu knowing that in about two hours or so I will begin to feel like my stomach is being turned inside out, wrung out, and ripped apart by Bruno the strong-handed Brut. It might taste delicious, but nothing is worth that feeling. Not even tiramisu.

sigh

So, I was excited when Red Leaf Tea announced its tiramisu (and now even more excited with the announcement of Creme Brulee & maple flavors … I think I might be in Matcha Paradise and Robert from Red Leaf Tea is the King of Matcha Paradise), and… this is EVEN BETTER than the dessert. Not only does the Matcha offer an exciting, dynamic layer of flavor to the exquisite dessert … but I can drink this without worrying that I am going to get sick in a couple of hours from it.

And this is so good! It’s creamy and decadent. I can taste the creamy, rich, sweet marscapone cheese – it tastes rich and custard-y. And I can taste the cocoa – deep, dark, rich cocoa! And I can taste the coffee too. Together with the sweet, creamy, thick Matcha it is absolutely sublime. A perfect dessert.

I prepared this traditionally, using hot water and whisking… but I added just a little less water than I normally would, and replaced that with the same amount of warmed milk to make a thinned latte. The addition of milk enhances the creaminess, making it so rich and decadent. Amazingly good.

I’d tell you just how good this is but I think I’m supposed to keep these tasting notes Rated G. Or at least PG-13.

If you’d like to experience your own rated R experience with Tiramisu Matcha, you can find it here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/tiramisu-matcha.html

momo

Have you ever tried a tiramisu without coffee? I made this one for Thanksgiving a couple years ago and it was SO good. It still uses most of the usual tiramisu ingredients but also has pumpkin! http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Super-Simple-Pumpkin-Tiramisu-236541

LiberTEAS

No I haven’t tried it without coffee. this one sounds good. I might have to try it.

teevogel

There’s also strawberry tiramisu(and probably other varieties, which I don’t know about either, though) ;)

Daisy Chubb

Why not make it with a strong brewed black tea o: This is definitely on my list of things to try :D

Daisy Chubb

youcouldcallitTEARIMISU@!

LiberTEAS

@DaisyChubb – brilliant! The only thing is … that these require me MAKING the tiramisu. Guess who in this house likes tiramisu. Me. Just me. Which means I’ll be the only one eating the tiramisu. Which… would make my mouth happy but my thighs large.

Batrachoid

I have a similar thwarted love of tiramisu. For vegan reasons, mostly, but coffee makes me feel like I have Crohn’s. Coffee extract/flavor doesn’t set me off, if that’s a possibility. It’s not cheap but a drop flavors a whole batch of cookies.
Although coconut creme is as close to mascarpone as I can make. The secret is tartaric acid, but it’s hard to find.

As part of my ongoing effort to rid my cupboard of things that i don’t enjoy drinking, this one i’m having a final cup of, before sending it “back” to my pregnant friend who pawned hers off on me. haha In this way she gets interest on the tea she was storing at my place and i get one less matcha in my cupboard :)

Terri HarpLady

When’s that baby due anyway?

Sil

Haha October….very soon. She’s started being able to tolerate the smell of tea again so I see this as an opportunity for me to get it out of my house! Since I won’t drink it :)

Morning matcha smoothie…and i do not like….much. I think that i prefer the pumpkin pie matcha to this one. I tried to cut this one with vanilla matcha, as i have done in the past with the pumpkin pie and it doesn’t seem to have helped. It’s still pretty strong for me and there’s one particular spice that is cutting through the rest instead of blending well. It’s not so much that it makes for a gross, terrible bad, icky smoothie but it’s not going to be a reorder for me. I also hate to think of how strong this would have been if i’d gone with my usual robust! Maybe i’ll try and use the rest in baking or something. that would be nice.

Autistic Goblin

not my personal favourite although I do love chai. Never tried smoothies but I would mix the chai matcha with an actual chai tea and see if it helps :D

Whee! Thursday morning working from home! here’s hoping i get time to make lots of tea given that tomorrow I’ll be without. Thought I’d start out with a latte instead of my smoothie to kick off things with a warm drink. This is an interesting matcha. I think i need to play with it a bit more since there’s an underlying taste there. Maybe I didn’t whisk it enough.

Autistic Goblin

chai latte yum!

Babble

Hmm this flavor was interesting to me. It’s just straight green matcha though right?

Sil

Yeah. Might be less odd with a black base.

Second Last Matcha review for today!
My matcha order was the following:
Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Distinctive

I really wasn’t sure what to expect with this one. I am a big fan of Chai’s but i’m also very particular about the chai’s that I drink. Opening up this package was a weird experience. It first smelled strongly of cinnamon, then the hazelnut took over and then, vick’s vapo rub?!?! Yeah…don’t know what’s up with my nose but that’s what i’m smelling.
As always, I ignored what my nose was telling me and brewed this into a hot latte. I have to say, i don’t think i’d ever get this in a robust flavouring! This balance of spices when blended with the milk are as much as i’d need. I really like this blend of cinnamon and spice. It’s not quite what i expected but it’s still a wonderful warm treat that I will LOVE when winter finally gets here. I can imagine sipping this after cold evening walks in the snow with my other half. I really think he’d enjoy this one as well as it’s not too strange a chai blend and could replace the hot chocolate he usually wants. Another nice matcha from Red Leaf :)

Buy it here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/chai-matcha.html

LiberTEAS

I just ordered this today… I wasn’t sure about the level of flavoring … my usual is distinctive level with classic Matcha, but, I thought it might be a little too much … but I do like a good, spicy chai.

Sil

i usually go with robust but this was fine for me :)

Autistic Goblin

I’m pretty sure I went for the strongest flavouring so I’ll let you know how that turns out when it gets here :D

So I said the boysenberry was my last but I’m leaving tonight for a while for a little vacation and there is no internet, so I wanted to get this up before I leave. So this is the last of my order :( Oh very very sad. But what can you do. I got this one because Azzrian ravs about it and its one of her favorites so I wanted to see what all the buzz was about. Now when I think of butterscotch first thing that comes to mind is going to my grandparents house when I was a kid, and always on the living room table was a bowl of butterscotch candy’s. And every time id go over my grandpa would sneak some for me since my parents didn’t like me having candy.

So what I got was Size: Small (30 grams), Quality: Basic Grade, Flavor: Delicate I was going to get robust flavoring but I’m worried if I start to buy in robust I wont like my delicate flavoring as much. Oh the choices! So drinking it I definitely get the sweet butterscotch flavor but I get the matcha too. This is great! I love the different flavor the matcha brings. It brings this great earthiness to it. And its not too sweet either. Definitely sweetened this one with my sweetener but I sweeten all my matchas. Its sweet and buttery and rich. Guh this is good. I’m going to have to get this in robust just so I can amp up the flavor. Everyone can get it here :) http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/butterscotch-matcha.html

Yay now off to the country for a couple days. It will be nice to be away from all technology, get caught up on my reading. See you all in about a week, have a great week guys!

Azzrian

Yup the more flavor the sweeter too in my opinion! :)

Cedes

I will definitly get it in robust when I run out and need more. Because I will run out and need more of this :)

Azzrian

LOL exactly!

Cedes

Lol I get why these are so addicting! Well I’m off for a peaceful vacation hopefully. Have a good week :)

Azzrian

Have a great time away! :)

Mathathon last of the day I just did a small size of this or ill go nuts! I tired to space my matchas apart by a couple of hours. I definitely did not drink them all at once. That would be crazy! So when this went on sale I was like what the heck is a boysenberry? So I completely passed it over. Then I kept seeing reviews and people where like oh its so good. I was like is it a blackberry? Red leaf says it resembles a big sized raspberry, loganberry and blackberry so I was like okay I love raspberry’s and blackberry’s. Then I saw Azz reviews that it smells like red bull. I love the smell of redbull!

So what I got was Size: Small (30 grams), Quality: Basic Grade, Flavor: Delicate. So what I did was half a teaspoon of the matcha shifted with one third a cup of hot water and half a cup of milk and some ice. Okay so smell kinda get redbull. So first sip I can taste the berrys. Its nice and sweet and tart. I like that its not just a sweet berry flavor. I get the tartness that reminds me of blackberrys. You definitely get the matcha but the boysenberry holds its ground with the matcha. Its not overpowered by it at all. I did add some sweetener which really made the boysenberry shine some more. I’m gunna need to try these berrys now! Get it here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/boysenberry-matcha.html

LiberTEAS

I do love the boysenberry matcha. I think it’s one of the best! Yum!

Cedes

Yeah I really liked it. I wish I had tried it sooner.

Mathcathon! Number 3 today. Okay I saw toffee and was like yum! This is my third matcha today and im all energized! I find when I drink them I don’t get the energy boost some people speak of but now that I’ve had 3 I’m ready to go. Get it here: https://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/english-toffee-matcha.html

So reading the reviews I read that English toffee was toffee with nuts and chocolate, okay so its like bumped up toffee um sounds delicious. I was a very picky eater when I was young and being now diabetic I don’t really do alot of sweets so I have not tired alot so this is a great alternative. So what I got was Size: Small (30 grams), Quality: Basic Grade, Flavor: Delicate. First off the smell guh its intoxicating its sweet and buttery and mouth watering! If its as good as the smell I am going to like this one very much! So I find I prefer my matchas cold so I made this into a iced latte. First sip okay yeah chocolate sweet toffee like, let it get a bit colder GUH! I need to hoard this one so good! I love toffee and burnt sugariness except it getting stuck in my teeth, this is perfect. Its sweet and chocolaty and earthy and sugary and perfection in a glass. I need to make this with almond milk to help the nuttiness come out. Why didnt I get this earlier. O well I have it now and will drink it with love until its gone :)

Yay matchathon! Number 2 of the day! So when I saw this I was like huh? What is a bavarian creme? I was told its like a donut with vanilla custard inside. At first when it went on sale I was like Ill wait for the reviews on this one. Its got such good reviews I was like hum okay let just give it a shot. When opening the package its got a great sweet smell to it. Its smells like custard to me, it could be my brain playing tricks cause I’m thinking custard but hey it smells lovely. Get it here http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/bavarian-cream-matcha.html

So what I got was Size: Small (30 grams), Quality: Basic Grade, Flavor: Delicate, I love the taste of matcha so I get my flavors in delicate, but I might be changed over to the Robust train so good! So I made mine as a Iced latte with regular milk this time. Thought almond milk might over power this so first off im going to try it with regular. So what I did was half a teaspoon of the bavarian cream matcha, one third a cup of hot water and half a cup of milk, added some ice and viola latte time! I definitely get matcha and some vanilla creaminess. Not sure what I was expecting maybe a bit more vanilla, its good but I thought its be more bam donut! Probly doesnt help that I’ve never had a bavarian cream donut :) Its was good but not my favorite so far. I think I will need to find one of these donut in gluten free probly wont taste that great but maybe I can figure out what its spose to taste like.

Terri HarpLady

Looks like Bavarian cream is a mousse or pudding made with eggs, gelatin, heavy cream, whipped cream, & vanilla. There are recipes online, so you could make some & tell us how it is (unless you’re allergic to milk like me). It can be used to fill donuts, or served with dress fruit, but I bet it would be especially good next to a cup of Laoshan black.
