Sip down!
Another mango smoothie this morning to finish up the last of my matcha. I have two unopened packages of other flavours in my cupobard so i’m itching to sip down a bit more of the ones i have so that I can open them to try them and then of course, place another order to restock my cupboard with my favourites!
Really enjoyed this one while i had it.
wuick smoothie this morning to go with my breakfast! My wonderful other half woke up on his day off to cook me breakfast because we’ve both been so busy the past few months that he hasn’t had time to do it. Nothing says delicious like salsa eggs and a mango smoothie!
I likely won’t pick this up again, as it’s starting to come across more like mango+rind but it’s been a good run.
I so needed this today. Work is a little rough these days as I’m relatively new to the role and everyone on my team has been sent out of the country so I’m holding down the fort on my own here. I really am growing to love this mango matcha in my morning smoothies. Today i added a splash of caramel matcha just to make it a bit sweeter. I drank this in no time flat and now i really wish i had a blender, matcha and milk here at work for another 2 or 3 since i’m falling asleep at my desk heh
Nothing says HELLO GOOD MORNING! than a matcha smoothie! (Unless you’re Helena) I tossed in some frozen mangos as well as the matcha into my smoothie this morning just to have a bit of extra kick. It was delicious! I really like the blending of actual fruit and matcha. I’ll have to try that with my berry matcha as well!
Mango madness! Ok so mangos are one of my favourite fruits. When I was in Australia I pretty much ate Mangos non stop any way that I could. In ice cream, yogurt, candies etc… sooooo good!
My matcha order was the following:
Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Delicate
I ordered delicate for the first time with this one because I was a little worried after the intensity of the pear matcha. When I opened this package the scent was that of Mangos but also the rind of the mango. I was a bit worried that the rind taste would carry over in to the matcha but luckily it didn’t! I popped this matcha into my morning smoothie since I’m fairly certain I don’t want to drink this hot ever :)
Delicious! I know some others haven’t loved this, but I still find it an enjoyable matcha. The taste does have a bit of the rind in it but I don’t mind that so much. It makes it feel more like I took a bite out of a mango and got a bit of rind in my bite. I’d be interested in trying this in a different base just to see how the flavour changes (if it does). I wonder if something like a white base would bring out more of the mango flavour. I’m happy with this purchase – it’s not quite the wonderful fruit flavour that the black cherry is but it’s still good and something I’ll enjoy in my smoothies. I’ll enjoy mixing all my different fruit flavours into a giant matcha smoothie one of these days.

This was a mini sipdown this morning because i managed to finally get through the matcha in this flavour that my friend gave to me. I still have my own in the cupboard but at least that one is still sealed :) I really like having this one in smoothie form with a small dash of coffee matcha to make it a little more robust in terms of coffee flavour. it’s delicious! :)
I had a mocha latte this morning since i had a bit of extra time in the morning before work. I’m trying to catch up on things so that i can take thrs and friday off or at least friday. While this is still pretty tasty, it may be that matcha is a winter drink for me. I can feel myself slowing down a little in terms of drinking it. Still, this was quiet enjoyable all things considered.
I have been drinking it with cold milk blended with ice. Feels more summery.
The mocha flavor seems like it would be good. I have some boysenberry and cotton candy on the way to add to my caramel. I would love to do a flavored matcha swap sometime to find more flavors that I like without having to buy.
Another morning smoothie. Having more of my friends matcha though i’m not sure how i’m going to get through all of this. I have 6 flavours from her that i like to finish and then there are maybe another 7 flavours unopened in my cupboard haha. Good thing i love my matcha smoothies and lattes!
1200 tasting notes! woot woot! I thought i’d save it for something special but man every tea is special!
No real sipdowns coming up soon but i’ve resigned myself to that fact, especially in light of the fact that it’s THURSDAY! woot woot! only 2 more days until the fun is here haha. actually it technically starts on friday night but what the hey.
I am once again “helping” my friend drink her matcha down. At this point it’ll be forever until i can drink my own matcha again given that she’s got about 10? flavours that need help. I suspect that she’ll be off of tea for a while but maybe not. I’d forgotten how much i enjoy the mocha matcha, though i do prefer it when i can add a spash of coffee matcha to it to make it just a little less sweet. Of course today i added a splash of caramel matcha….i mean why not!
haha she’s knocked up :) so all her tea is living at my place because the smell of it in her cupboard was making her throw up. haha
Man, I probably have a pregnancy in my future this year if things go as planned… i REALLY hope that doesn’t happen to me :/
I was worried enough because you hear things about how you have to avoid certain food/drinks when knocked up and I’m sure I read something about tea, just not sure what kind. I’m hoping only peppermint. But I know doctors say different things. I had a paranoid friend who avoided ALL tea but that won’t be me! I hope I can drink matcha……….
I’m going to have to stop ordering tea a year before i think i’m going to try to get pregnant lol. It’ll take me that long to drink my stash down.
I have a friend who is pregnant and gave up coffee + tea + soda and all caffeine all at once. It was UGLY.
It’s all about moderation in pregnancy as long as it’s not making you sick. You don’t have to give up ALL you tea. Maybe just not as much a day :-)
During my first pregnancy (30 years ago) I gave up tobacco & a variety of illegal substances. I didn’t give up coffee, but I did cut back (I loved my coffee back then). I drank herbal teas during all my of my pregnancies (4, in total), especially raspberry leaf, which is so good for women. After my lovely daughter Jessica was born, I had to give up coffee because it gave her a rash! I never got into drinking it again, & in fact, was even caffeine free until 20 or so years ago, when the addiction re-surfaced…
There are wonderful natural blends to begin to incorporate into your stash and get used to like mint and ginger and chamomile. Basil is fine also. Always check with the Doctor or labels because even herbs (not these I’ve mentioned) can be bad for pregnancy. I have a stash of things like orange peel, cinnamon nibs, dry ginger, rose petal, tulsi, mints and chamomile that I make blends with or add to what I have like dry fruit (cranberries for instance or lemon).
Good luck whatshesaid! I was a first time mom and I gave up all caffeine because I didn’t know what was safe, and then I gave up tisanes because I was worried about herbs. It was most likely unnecessary but luckily I was just starting exploring loose leaf teas so it wasn’t unbearable.
I wish I’d known about rooibos…
But Tastybrew is right. It’s all about moderation. A few cups a day won’t hurt – just don’t drink strongly caffeinated tea all day.
After the baby was born I rebounded hard and am now… well on Steepster. And my daughter is 10 months and sipping rooibos with me at night. <3
sipdown!
Sad to see this go but i DO have coffee and belgian chocolate matcha that i can mix together to make mocha until I get the funds to place another redleaf order. I have to say that this one was pretty delicious, though I greatly preferred it when i added a bit of coffee matcha to make it a bit stronger on the coffee side and a bit of cheesecake or french vanilla matcha to bring out the creamy goodness.
Thank you red leaf!
Oh man this is sooooo good this morning. I added just a touch of french vanilla matcha to my concoction this morning and it’s perfect! I only wish i had a blender at work that I could borrow to have my smoothie in the afternoon as well. heh I really need to find time this weekend to review the 3? new matchas that i picked up the other day. But for now? for now i am relishing the creamy mocha goodness that is this smoothie today. mmmmmmm YUM!
YUM!
Man there is something fantastic about having a morning mocha smoothie! This was tasty delicious with my morning breakfast sammiches. Nothing says sucky weekend like one stuck in front of a computer testing websites. Blech! This smoothie was downright delicious though and just the thing to kick off my morning. Now to figure out what other flavours from red leaf i want to try!
mmmmmm now that I’d figured out my secret to success with this matcha i am loving it in the morning! Go go cold mocha delicious smoothie. It’s like having a frappacino in the morning only waaaay better! I really don’t know what i’d do without my red leaf matcha in the morning I just wish my order would get here already as I’m starting to run low on a few of my flavours. Bumping up the rating on this one a little since it’s totally yummy!
So i finally found the perfect way to make this for my morning smoothie. 2 parts this and 1 part each of coffee matcha and cheesecake matcha. The cheesecake adds to the creaminess and the coffee cuts through the sweet of the mocha. So technically i guess this is a custom creation but whatever! I muck about with most of my matcha in some form anyway. I think the next time i order mocha though, i’ll either drop a flavouring level or just order chocolate matcha and make my own mocha with coffee and chocolate. :)
I really needed this this morning. I am usually at work at 7-7:15 and let me tell you, i got out of bed at 7:10. sooooyeaaaah. Looking forward to maybe being able to sleep in this weekend.
I think i figured out the trick to this matcha this morning. Add cheesecake matcha to it! Lol I discovered this morning that adding a bit of cheesecake matcha to the mocha matcha helps bring more creaminess to the mocha matcha and offset the strong coffee/chocolate taste. Totally digging this today :) go go morning matcha smoothie!
Haha I do like teh coffee taste but its….I dunno I can’t explain it its coffee but yet not. Adding the cheesecake to it makes it much more coffee/mocha like. It’s almost like the milk I use doesn’t give it quite enough creamy :)
I really hope that my matcha experiments tonight don’t keep me up all night, though if they do then I suppose i’ll just need more in the morning to keep me going tomorrow lol
My matcha order was the following:
Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Robust
So! I’m trying this matcha out right after the coffee matcha just to see how the two compare. I have to be honest, I think I prefer the mocha one. Not because of the chocolatey factor but because it taste more like coffee than the coffee matcha did. I made this as a hot latte so that it was similar to what i did with the coffee matcha. The smell is pleasant and it’s a really smooth beverage. I think though that I’d really like to try this cold because it’s how I prefer to drink my coffee/mocha type beverages. I did expect that the flavour would be stronger given that I nearly always go with the robust flavouring. I think with this one you could go even stronger as long as you’re okay with not tasting matcha, which i totally am. I had a thought as well to try mixing the chocolate and the espresso matcha together to see how it compares to this one so that might be something to do whenever i get around to purchasing more matcha. At the end of the day, this is a nice matcha – still not as wonderful as caramel and cheesecake but they’re my ones to beat!
