Not bad. Not my favourite, but not bad. The black currant flavour is nice, I’m not really sure about champagne – it’s a little grapey I guess?
I don’t think I’ll get this one again, and I just have one cup left.
Preparation
Mmm. Hot with a couple pieces of rock sugar added while it steeped.
IDK why they recommend steeping it so hot. White tea is best steeped cooler (IMO), so I tried it at 160F for 3 minutes or so.
Delicious! Sweet blackcurrant, mild white tea. I’m liking this a lot! It would be good blended with some fruits and made into popsicles, I think…
Preparation
I’ve never had a kir royale! But the black currant is spot on, especially with a pinch of sugar added.
I was dumb and didn’t even check the ingredients for this tea in store. Oh well! It smells divine. So curranty!
I’ve made up a glass iced, because I am thirsty. The flavour doesn’t totally transfer iced, but the leaves still smell great so I’ll make another cup hot.
It’s currents, plus white tea, plus a sweetness I wasn’t quite expecting. I’m not sure yet if I’ll get it again, but so far, so good.
I spent the entire afternoon out walking around Vancouver. I bused out to Bayswater, then walked to the shoe store and successfully returned some shoes, walked to Granville Island and got a tart and a matcha (I asked for iced, but oops I got a hot one! Still delicious.), walked downtown and shopped a bit. I ended up getting a power pack for my phone, because phone batteries suck.
If you’re looking for one, get one that doesn’t require pressing a button to start charging – the button will die first – and it should be at least 3000mAh. I wanted a 5000mAh one, but it required a button press. So I got the 3000mAh one for $25. Not too shabby. Nice and cheap.
Preparation
I got this one at London Drugs for $25. Not sure what’s up with the pricing. http://www.logiix.net/product-p/piston_power.htm (LGX-10816)
This one is creamy, but the other flavours seem to just amalgamate. It’s a tasty tea, but I’m having trouble differentiating chocolates and coconut. All in all, a tasty tea.
I think I may work on some sipdowns next, because the teas literally cannot fit in my cupboard at this point, so I need to make room and get creative about fitting teas in.
It’s creamy, but I wouldn’t say strongly flavoured. But not weakly flavoured, like you’re searching for flavour either. There’s flavour there, but it’s not overwhelming.
I cold brewed this one for 7 hours, and even though it still smells strongly of the combination of lemongrass and hibiscus, the flavours meld. There’s tartness, but it’s not overwhelming and instead quite refreshing. I’m looking forward to the cold brewed Creamy Rhubarb as well.
Preparation
This one smelled quite strong dry, so I was a bit wary to steep it up, but it turned out quite nicely. It’s a bit like lemonade with a hint of hibiscus. It brewed up a medium pink, but the hibiscus was very light. I’m enjoying it hot, but I have a feeling it will be even better cold brewed.
This one is actually labelled as a ‘sun tea’. Perhaps that means I should brew it in the sun?
Preparation
This one is weirding me out. Not because it tastes weird, but because it brewed up opaque. I immediately thought of Anna’s foamy opaque tea from this morning.
While it’s a good cold brew, I may prefer this one hot. And it may also partially be because hot it’s not opaque. I also preferred Luscious Watermelon hot too though.
I cold brewed this one for 10 hours.
Preparation
I picked up 100g of this one today. The scent is lovely. The taste is much lighter, but still quite tasty. I’m enjoying the cinnamon maple mixture, but overall I may slightly prefer Maple Seduction, however I don’t know if I would say they’re fully comparable just because of the very different tastes.
I think I need to steep this one longer to get a bit more flavour from it next time.
Preparation
Haha! I was very excited. Although everything except Divine Temptation and this one was 50g. Phew. I shall steep longer, I also eyeballed the leaf amount since I only brought an infuser.
All my bayswater teas were 50g or 25g since cavo is splitting most of them with me heh as a result they’ll probably be finished up before some of my older teas lol
all gone! because i can’t help myself…and because there was just enough for a delicious cup to enjoy this evening AND happened to get me to my sipdown goal for the long weekend hahaha 150 to 120! woot woot! go me!
last tea for the night. we pooped the dog out and he’s now sleeping half under the bed and half on the mat by my side of the bed. Works for me though ’cause he had me up all night last night. I had a cup of this while watching Longmire with the other half. so glad netflicks picked it up again.
Final Count: 127 (at least i might make my mini goal this weekend.. 150 to 120 over the long weekend…it could happen..i think i have enough sipdowns to get there)
backlog!
Last of this finished up yesterday while the other half and i got in a tv show and dinner. I try really hard to make sure that even if i’m working like nobody’s business during the week, i shut down on friday at a reasonable time, and spend a relaxing evening with my other half not thinking about work. I may get up at 7am the next day to finish work but i need that evening to take time to reconnect with him and just unplug from all the work frustration. So this + tea AND to bed “earlier” than i have been, means i may survive this weekend lol
i love friday nights. They are typically the one night a week guaranteed for E and i to relax and take a deep breath after long weeks and before the craziness of the weekend sets in with work or running around with friends. Played some Terra Mystica while having a few cups of tea tonight and it was fantastic. i love this tea because it’s limey and a little spicy and just downright yummy. now if only after a year and a half bayswater ACTUALLY did something with their website…
yeah and it’s not up to date…and they’ve been saying for like 2 years they’re “almost ready to launch an ecommerce site”
It’s so frustrating. Even living in the same city, just being able to browse before I went in would be amazing.
when you say “limey and a ‘little’ spicey” how limey to spicey are we talking? lots of lime with a bit of a punch, just enough lime to be a lime tea with a real kick of ginger, etc?
it’s just got a bit of a kick…most ppl who can stand spicy things would probably not notice this much
I’ll send my sister to get me some while she’s over there next week :) there’s a few I want to try and I need to top up on grapefruit EG again (already. oops)
Today this was really nice. the peppercorns made it much spicier than normal so it was a happy time for me. Not as much ginger as i wanted, but given the peppercorns it still had kick. I need to remember to a) cold brew this tomorrow and b) add a little honey to see how that brings out the flavours.
Final Count: 182 [70 samples = fake cupboard at 112 with a week and a half to go! 1 tea from October left in my cupboard and 4 from December…not too shabby, figure maybe 110 by the time july rolls around at this rate heh]
Still digging this one a bunch. I’m happy that gambles paid off when I hit bayswater. Nt all the teas I picked were winners but a bunch have been great. I also haven’t even tried a huge number of them lol. I like that this one reminds me a little of lime gelato from David’s but is zippier!
backlog from yesterday as i needed some fruity teas after a long day of work. I really enjoy this one because it’s got a delicious tangy ginger zip to things! I still need to try this cold brewed, especially now that summer is in full force, but that’s a challenge for after moving!
always on the search for more ginger teas – especially non caffinated ones, i picked this up while at bayswater. I was originally going to get the ginger pineapple, but when i smelled this one, i knew it was the way to go. This is like lime gelato from david’s tea but less sugar and more spicy kick! Again, i could handle more ginger but on the whole, this is a really tasty one. it’s got just enough ginger to satisfy me and accompanies the lime really nicely. So glad i opted for this one over the pineapple since i think that wouldn’t have been as nice.
I’m adding teas to my shopping list, even though I am not allowed to go tea shopping for many many months at this point. :)
I went a little crazy, but those are the only two shops i’m going to. 12 new teas and $80 down. Eep. OMGsrsly, I noticed Pekoe Tea en route to Bayswater – have you been?
MissB has gone to Pekoe tea – she sent me a few. Of the ones i’ve tried, i’d be more inclined to do bayswater. Only 12 teas…sheesh…try harder! :)
omg – happy to send you some as well to try. I still have the bolder breakfast set aside for you too
Courtney, Pekoe carries Steeps teas, and some from other suppliers. They measure into tins. Some are good, some are terrible, and the service really depends on the staff as it is more of a cafe.
Sil… :P
I’m too overwhelmed with life right now to deal with more teas. :) I haven’t had any today again… I made more coffee this morning.
OMG…next time you’re at steam tell him your vacationing friends were sad they got no samples and had to get 100g….
Gah, I know 100g was so much! For Maple Seduction it’s fine, but I didn’t really want 100 of the other two haha. Good to know about Pekoe too.
Try harder :P I’m not up in the hundreds of teas like you Sil, and I need to keep it that way haha!
Good job! Hehe, I have zero cupboard space as it is, and my teas have now taken up another drawer. I think the issue is, all the teas in my Steepster cupboard are actually decent amount.
Figured i might as well hit up my two maple teas at the same time :) This one is close in sipdown range, so i’m going to force it and let another tea friend try this one out hahaha. I enjoyed this, but i’m still not convinced the popcorn had a place in this tea lol
had a cup of this tonight. it’s still a weird sort of blend for me. Popcorn in here, which doesn’t really seem to add to the blend, but doesn’t interfere with it either. Cinnamon, which is hard to equate to maple…but it works in a weird way. Not my favourite tea, but not half bad. :)
