1598 Tasting Notes
So I thought packing and moving wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but it’s tricky when I’m home with the baby and there’s no one else around, and she tries to unpack everything I’m doing as soon as I turn my back, or she decides to climb on the couch, and falls onto something hard, or she just won’t nap and throws things around the house and smacks me with her bottle.
That’s how my days have been.
And I’ve been needing tea. Lots of tea. I don’t think I’m getting enough and that’s part of why I feel so tense all the time. And when I do get tea it’s very hit or miss, but I’ve been drinking up the not-so-great’s and this tea would be classified there. It was only $2.50 though, and it’d probably be better as a latte.
I should probably make a latte. 4L of milk goes A LONG way with just me drinking it. Before, it could be gone in 2 days. :P
I think I put too much pressure on myself. All of this will work itself out. :P
This one wasn’t a sipdown, but I’m down to 104, and Sil is graciously holding onto about 11 new ones for me. Maybe I’ll still end up under 100 by the time I get those from her. :P I still have about 115 oz though. SO MUCH.
I’m pretty sure I’ve reviewed this a few times, and if not here’s the tl:dr: I like it a lot.
Now, I want to talk about Cloud Atlas (with little to no spoilers). Has anyone seen the movie? Or read the book? I read the book, and really enjoyed it, but was slightly disappointed when I reached the end. But then, it got under my skin a bit and after a day or so I was really pleased.
And so I finally got a chance to watch the epic 3 hour adaption that barely happened. And while there were times through it that I felt, oh man thi is long, but by the time I got to the end I was so enthralled and I laughed and cried at all the right parts.
And I can totally see why the critics would hate this sort of a thing because it’s weird but it’s also sorta beautiful too, and I have a feeling that this will be one I’ll come to every so often so I can peel back the layers just a little bit more…
Unlike this tea, which pretty much delivers what it promises. :P
Tony & I watched it, & we loved it! LOL, half of the time I had no idea what the hell was going on. After we watched it, I did some research at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_Atlas_%28film%29,
which explained things a little more. Then I found this page, which has an awesome chart, telling you who played who (I had no idea!!!), what archetypes they represent, etc.
io9.com/still-confused-by-cloud-atlas-infographic-featurette-505751083
Then we watched it again a few days later, & loved it even more.
I want to read the book, eventually. Then I’ll probably have to watch the movie again, lol, but I do that all the time. The other day we watched The Matrix, for like the 50th time. I love that movie (the original, not the sequels).
Oh, that’s also a great link! This one was also pretty helpfuL: http://www.vulture.com/2012/10/guide-to-the-characters-and-connections-of-cloud-atlas-confused.html
I’m happy I watched it on my own since it’s such a big time commitment and a bit of an oddball movie, but I’m hoping to get J to watch it with me again once I’m in Toronto.
The book was enjoyable but structured differently – the 6 stories were nested inside the other, so you started off with the first half of the ship story and worked your way to the post-apoclyptic story, got the entire story of that, and then worked your way back in time to get to the end of the pacific story. It was beautifully written, although some might call the structure gimmicky.
I am making this tonight so I have something tasty to drink while I attempt to watch Cloud Atlas, depending on what the baby allows. But I’d better drinkt his one every few days or so or I’ll never make a dent in my lifetime supply (i.e., 7 oz tin).
i still cannot believe that so many of you bought that insane amount…next time try ONE between the 3 of you!
I drank 6 oz of this, but wasn’t really impressed. I then drank 6 oz of TARDIS, enjoyed it, and finished off the last 6 oz – it was much better this time around. Mood is such a funny thing with tea.
I like this, but am not really sure how it’s different from Laoshan Black – it seems darker/richer, I guess? But I think I’d rather just get more LB in the future.
Ok – last review of the night! The morning was too chaotic to really enjoy any teas, and it’s only the last 2 hours of the night after TK is sleeping that I really get anything done.
I packed up 4 boxes though, so I get this as a reward before bed!
As soon as I poured it into my cup I was blown away by the rooibos smell. I’ve never noticed that before! But I could also smell the vanilla and the chai.
This is actually a pretty good non-caffeinated tea. It’s not as dark as a black blend would have been, but the vanilla makes it a tad creamy in my mind. I bet this would make a nice latte too. I’d recommend this to someone who wanted soemthing spicy in the evening! I think this is my favourite of the Persimmon samples I’ve had so far!
Also, I know non-caffeinated might not be a real word, but it makes more sense to me than decaffeinated ‘cause that implies it HAD caffeine. Anyway… that’s why I did that. :D
And now I’ve stared at the word “caffeine” long enough that it no longer looks like a recognizable word. I’m going to bed pretty quick.
Preparation
Whoops! I did a sipdown of this earlier today (at 109 now – Sil!) and it doesn’t look like I’ve ever written a note for it.
So here goes. I’ve tried this in the blender multiple times, and I’ve tried it by mixing powder into my timolino with milk and stirring it, and I’ve also down the same, but added ice and shook it, and they basically all turned out the same. I never did get that frappacinno consistency but in the end I didn’t care either. It was tasty and it hit the spot.
I think though, in the future, I’d rather just get flavoured matcha from Red Leaf as I typically drink matcha without any sugar and if I can get by without it, why not go that route instead?
I think it’s a great idea though, and I hope Red Leaf sells a ton of it. It’s much cheaper and very convenient compared to the coffee-shop equivalent!
Another sample from Nina’s Paris! Thank you for letting me try your teas out. I’m looking forward to your online store. :D
This was a pleasant evening cup. The citrus really brightened up, and I am enjoying the lingering aftertaste too. It seems as though this tea is a little weak for my tastes, but I’m certain that if I’d steeped it for 3 minutes instead of 2, that would have been better.
I’m remember this for my pretty-much eventual Nina’s Paris order. ;)
Preparation
This is such a silly tea. I won’t even try to take it seriously!
I guess at one point if you entered the Konami Code on the Marvel site, you’d see a deadpool version of a squirrel: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/0a/Marvel_konami_code.jpg Thanks Wikipedia!
Thank you Shadowfall for the sample of this! I am enjoying the chocolate and vanilla flavours in this, although I wouldn’t go out of my way to get more!
I’m partial to the Jane Austen mystery books. :) Almost AU fanfiction at its finest.
Oh! Who are those by? I tried reading some fic before but some of them get really coarse/smutty and it sorta breaks the spell. Just doesn’t seem like Lizzie. :P I might enjoy those mysteries more!

They’re sadly not happy, as they do sort of follow what is known about her life, but I thought they were pretty good. More angst than romance, essentially.
