1598 Tasting Notes
I really shouldn’t like this tea. I guess I didn’t expect to? And I don’t deserve to because it was an impulsive buy and those are supposed to bite you in the butt.
But I do.
It makes me think of a Ceylon, but I guess there is Assam in there too; both black teas make a strong showing, and then the vanilla and pomegranate make their appearance, bow, and leave centre-stage. This tea wants to be astringent, but it isn’t. Just enough to make me stop and pay more attention to the flavours, which isn’t a bad thing at all.
I think I’ll drink this one when I’m homesick. ;)
(for wherever “home” is. I was only in Vancouver for 5 years. The on Vancouver Island for 3. Then High Prairie for 3. Kamloops for 4?)
I guess I’ll drink this when I miss Vancouver. :D
Preparation
Backlog from yesterday: I drank 30oz of this beause it was just so good and I wanted to keep going with it. It was a bit maltier than I had remember in the first steep, but REALLY good. I’m sure that 100g in my cupboard won’t last terribly long.
I’m so happy I ordered from Teavivre! It was such a great sale and the shipping is just SO reasonable. I got my order quicker than I get orders from the US, and for half the price. Go figure.
Sipdown!
This was just a little sample with my last order, but I requested it because I thought it would make a nice iced tea – and it did. The baby and I have been sipping away at it all day. I get a lot of the orange, but there are bits of apples and other fruits hiding away in the back. I can’t remember how much this one costs, but I could see this one being an easy one to drink down in the summer. It’s just a touch tart, but not unpleasantly so.
Preparation
Well, and that’s that for that.
This tea is one of the few that I bought 100g from at DavidsTea and didn’t regret the impulse buy at all. I actually refilled my tin before they stopped stocking it because I KNEW I would want more.
I’m sad that it’s gone, but, strangely, not heartbroken. This was a really good relaxing tea, but I’m sure I can find something to fill its place.
Simpson and Vail created a replica of this for me, it’s called Jaclyn’s Cocomint Tea, the only difference is that SV uses unsweetened coconut flakes :)
www.svtea.com and search “jaclyn”
I was really excited for a minute. SV’s blend looks great, and it’s a good price too, except for the $28.25 they charge to ship to Canada. Agggh. I hope Davids brings Cocomint back this winter. I have the 100g I ordered last week, but it won’t last forever.
Mmmm. Paris!
I was so tempted to have another cup of the Taiwanese Mountain tea from Butiki, but because it’s in a little plastic bag I should probably keep that in my tea-survival-kit that I’ll be carrying around once I finally get around to packing my teas, and so I drank one from a tin.
How long can I go without packing them up? they’re taking up a bit of space on my counter, and I’m slowly packing up all my flat surfaces. :P
Another sipdown! (102 + possibly 8 more?)
This was really tasty, Incendiare, so thank you for sharing! It smelled good enough that it motivated me to go for a walk and buy some milk. :)
I drank it down so quickly though that I couldn’t really remember the flavours, but I know I liked it.
I drank this at 6, and I think that maybe part of the reason I’m still awake and power-cleaning while the baby is down for the night is this matcha. :P Also, who needs sleep when we have tea? I’ll be grumpy in the morning until I make my first cuppa. (You know you’re addicted when…)
Still, I’m hoping she’ll sleep until 7 or 8. :P
Easy sipdown! Thought I would pick this one today as it was enough for one flavourful cup. Thanks Incendiare!
This was a nice cup with vanilla and mint, but it wasn’t memorable, sad to say. I’d drink it again if I came across it, but I wouldn’t order it as there is better to be found.
I’m at 103! (Plus… my Bayswater teas which I need to sort/add).
Preparation
So I gave the rest of this away to the tea group yesterday, but kept just enough for 1 cup just in case not having 2 oz staring at me in the face would make me more appreciative of the tea itself, and not the number of cups I was committed to in the future.
And now that it’s gone, I can say that it is still as good as I thought. I like it, but don’t need it when I have Read My Lips.
Thank you CrowKettle for passing on some of this tea. Oh wow. It’s really amazing, and I’m getting all the pastry and honey notes that I was promised. I’d gush about it more, but I’m starting to feel like I won’t have enough time to do everything before I move so… back to work!
Sorta sad I didn’t order any, but… I’m hoping this is one that’ll stick around for a little bit? Maybe for Black Friday?
