1598 Tasting Notes
This is the perfect cup to start my day! I risked overleafing to make sure the caramel vanilla notes came through perfectly, and it worked!
It’s been a busy weekend with family visiting so my notes have been short, but I expect to be back to regular note posting soon! Also, I want to try all the exciting samples from JustJames, but need to give it a little more time to make sure I can dedicate the time and frame of mind required to trying them!
I’m totally distracted by the Licorice. I still get liquid Nutella, belt the end-sip just makes it weird.
LOL. I’m happy you were able to return yours, but it’s just not worth the trouble for me to go back. I’ve only got one or two cups left.
And Caile – it’s nearly great, which makes this frustrating. Maybe if I steep it less the licorice will be more subtle.
I bought this as a latte today, and OMG. It’s great. I wish mine tasted this good at home. I need to figure it out…
I looked at the advent calendars too, but didn’t think it’d be worth it for $35. I think I probably would have tried the ones they put in it, so that would take all the fun out.
When my pack of Ceylon Star came in, I got a sample of this and had to try it because Roswell Strange told me they heard, “The blend was changed for Alpine Punch. They added black pepper and also upped the amount of coconut in the blend by a significant amount.”
I like coconut, so I was excited. I’m not sure if I recognize a difference because it’s been so long since I had not, but I think this tastes much better than I remembered.
:D :D :D
I’ll have to make sure I reorder this as soon as I run out.
I have to try this one. Do you think that paper bags would kill the flavour? I don’t like using my baskets for raspberry teas, as my friend is SO allergic.
Didn’t Stacy say she was pulling the plug on this one? I could be wrong but I remember somewhere she was saying she was toying with the idea of retiring some blends and this was one of them.
Found it. I don’t know how to do the link thing on the iPad because all the links are the same, steepster.com ?!? But in her review of the Taiwanese mountain it says “The top contenders to be axed are the Raspberry Truffle, Strawberry Oolong, and the Mint Oolong”
Well, after drinking two cups of Laoshan Black (yay!) and one cup of H&S’s Fruit D’Alsace (ho hum), it’s time for my new “favourite” tea. Or, it had better be now that I have 10 oz of it. :P My order arrived today.
I’m fairly certain I will drink all of it eventually so it’s not a big deal, and this isn’t a tea that suffers if you overleaf it too, so I will enjoy it to it’s fullest. Even if I have ~120 cups of it.
Well, when you put it that way, 120 cups isn’t too bad when it’s something I like. It’s the warm creamy backdrop and the anise in the forefront that really makes this tea special. :)
Worst comes to worse you can always trade some in the future if you get sick of it. Luckily you are a fan though. I was in David’s and they were selling this 2 25g packs for $5 and I had some on the way and didn’t think it was the most amazing thing I tried so I didn’t buy it. I definitely regret that now because $5 for 50 g is a great deal.
Oh! This isn’t what I expected. I don’t know what I expected but… this is so good. It’s warm and juicy and it makes me think that I’m biting into soft mangos. I haven’t had mango lassi before so I can’t compare it to the real thing but I do love the creamy vanilla and orange notes that I’m getting in this. It’s like mango creamsicle.
This was a tea of the month, right? Because I might want more. This chamomile is nice too.
I’ll have to pick up some of Butiki’s Mango Lassi to compare. I wasn’t actually interested in this blend at all but it was convenient to grab this one, and now my curiousity is piqued!
Preparation
they gave me a sample of that white chocolate frosting, too? it was pretty good but not buy-me good like currant affair…
Well if you ever want more Ceylon Star, let me know! I have lots.
Also someone said that Alpine Punch tasted a little different this – more coconut flavour maybe? Anyway, I have 25g from last year so if you don’t like the new version we could trade!
The white chocolate frost is pretty good, but it’s no cocomint cream. Mmmmm. I still haven’t tried currant affair but I bought 20g!
One of the sales men at my local David’s store said that the blend was changed for Alpine Punch. They added black pepper and also upped the amount of coconut in the blend by a significant amount.
Haha this is what I started my day with too. Nice choice!
