This is rather nice. I chose this as my unflavoured black for the morning and don’t have any regrets! It’s sweet, bright, slightly oaky, and I think amidst the astringency there’s also a bit of smoke.

I’m not sure I like it enough to grab 2.5 oz of it, but maybe. I’d probably order another sample later on and decide then!

Woo! Cheap sample from the Persimmon Tree Company!

Now I have a theory that my old Perfect Mug from DavidsTea is effecting how teas taste. It just seems like I’m getting a “ceramic” taste or something that is taking away from my enjoyment. I really noticed it with H&S’s Vanilla Comoro as it was so incredibly amazing at work, and just odd when I had it at home.

This one also tastes like ceramics. So I made a new cup in my timolino and poured it into a bubble cup for comparison.

Perfect Mug: Mostly ceramic flavour, with chocolate and mint swirling about with hints of vanilla. Ok, but nothing I would ever crave.

Bubble Cup: Much better! It’s a strong rooibos flavoured blend, and I can taste the chocolate and mint much more.

So, I guess that’s settled. It’s my perfect mug that’s wonky. :| I’ve only had it since December, so I’m not sure what’s going on. Maybe I wore away the finish on the inside? Maybe I need to do some crazy thing to clean it and start over again? IDK.

Anyone notice anyting like this with their DavidsTea Perfect Mugs? This one has the darker coating inside, which is unusual as I think most of them are bright white. Maybe that’s part of it? IDK.

Thank you Shadowfall for the sample! This really sweet – it seems like I am getting mostly caramel but there’s just a touch of ginger in it to make it stand up straight. It’s very delightful and I think someday I would like some more.

Thank you!

JustJames

aside from butiki’s caramel vanilla assam i cannot seem to detect caramel in tea. it’s a sad sad thing.

TeaLady441

I usually don’t either, bu this one just popped. I sorta over-leafed AND over-steeped it.

JustJames

ha! that’s my normal m/o, lol.

Nom! Nom! :D I love it.
It’s not the best of the Verdant teas, but it’s bright and refreshing and minty and great.

drank Pu-erh by Harney & Sons

Sipdown (118 teas, and roughly 108 oz left!)!

This one is still very earthy, but not dirty and very good. I won’t restock it as I’m certain I will find better puerh’s out there, but I’m happy that I found one I could be friends with.

I guess if I’m worried about tea staining the tops of my teeth I should watch out for pu-erhs especially. Or drink from a straw, but that’s sorta ridiculous. Maybe my next job will have an awesome dental plan with teeth whitening in it? :O :O :O (yeahright)

ETA: I have over 120 followers now! That’s crazy. Thanks guys for making me feel like part of such a great community!

it’s nice to feel loved, isn’t it? i just made an order from harney’s…. i have a whole separate set of rolling storage drawers now because it was taking over the house. time to follow your lead and sipdown!!!

108oz! LOL, I’m afraid to weigh all of my tea, but maybe I should. Maybe the shock & awe will keep me from buying anything for awhile :).

My dentist’s office called the other day. Seems I’m overdue for my annual clean & check. If they had their way it would be twice a year, but since I have no insurance of any kind, they are lucky to see me once every 18 months or so.
By the way, I recently came across a recipe for homemade whitening toothpaste. It’s a mix of powdered activated charcoal, baking soda, coconut oil, & peppermint essential oil. I may give it a try. Here’s the link:

Thanks! I’ll try to remember that!

OMGsrsly

I’m really curious about the charcoal toothbrushes that someone posted on Facebook. Curious to the point of considering an Amazon order for some! :) Maybe they’d help?

I am making the coconut oil, cal mag powder, baking soda, and peppermint oil one I like it so far! My friend who has dry mouth issues from medications says now that she used my home made toothpaste she no longer needs the artificial saliva. It feels weird when you first start brushing, but your mouth does feel fresh and clean after.

Whoops. I sorta steeped this for 6 minutes – sorry fancy tea – you deserve much better.

Still, this seemed to handle it ok. I think I let the water cool more than I should so it balanced out a bit. This is smooth and silky, and very light and sweet. I think that when I’m inspired by how awesome green teas are, I will be tempted to grab more of this!

Sipdown (119) – since we’re all counting back down again!

I probably should drink more green teas. I imagine it’s a lot better for my teeth!

OMGsrsly

I still haven’t tried mine. Maybe I will when I get home!

Butiki Teas

OMGsrsly-If possible, I recommend brewing this one freely in a glass cup. It’s absolutely gorgeous when its brewing.

OMGsrsly

I have a canning jar I can use.. does that count? :)

Stephanie

I need more of this one! So good :)

Butiki Teas

OMGsrsly-that would work. :)

drank Grape Oolong by Butiki Teas
1598 tasting notes

I drank it all for the sipdown, yeah, the sipdown, yeah!

Drinking this puts me at 120 teas, according to my spreadsheet, of which 48 are sample size (1-3 cups). Time to get back on track! I’ve got my new teas. I’ve got indulgent teas. I have enough.

For now.

Goodbye Grape oolong! Someday I will order you again. Some day, possibly in November. :D

I steeped this for 2 minutes instead of 1 and I’m almost singing from the hills.

It’s so rich and dark and full of honey and I can taste the malt and oh my…

Maybe next time I’ll steep it for 3 minutes now that my tolerance for strong flavours has gone up. I think I only have 1 oz of this left too. :O I better step up my point earning!

Terri HarpLady

I steep 1 Tbl for 3 minutes, & then resteep for 5. I love it!!

Indigobloom

I can never rarely decide which version I want! the rich or delicate one lol- they’re both so gooooood!

TeaKlutz

Two minutes? That’s way less than I’ve been doing (I’m embarrassed to say how much.) Next time I get some in my stash I’ll have to try that, because the sweet flavor I’ve been getting so far isn’t quite malty.
