1598 Tasting Notes

Aargh. I had caramel matchacinno for breakfast and now that I’m drinking this it just tastes like sour milk. :| And I’ve had food to eat since then, and drank lots of water and all of that, but I can’t shake it.

And I really wanted some tiger time too. Baah.

So I was trying to do 5 things at once on the internet, as I usually do, and then I took a sip of this and had to DROP EVERYTHING.

This tea is just great. It’s sweet, slightly tart with the blackberries and oh so creamy. And I was wrong – it’s different enough from the TARDIS blend so I’m very happy I have both.

I don’t know how I’ll ever get sick of either of them, but I’ve got 3 oz of this and 6 of the other so, who knows?

Yay! Glad you liked it too!

Plunkybug

I have some of this but am nervous to try because it smells a bit strong. I gave my TARDIS blend away because it was too floral.

TeaLady441

I find the trick with Adagio blends is to steep for 2.5 min or less at less than boiling. I don’t find it too strong that way.

Sil

Imma have to steal some of your adagio teas when you get here lol

TeaLady441

I’ve made a note on my spreadsheet!

Sil

Tardis too! Terri likely didn’t send me any ‘cause of the earl grey factor but i’ll give it a shot since you like it haha

TeaLady441

Done! It’s on the list. No guarantee you’ll like them, but if you do short steep times it’s pretty good. I could see it getting too perfumy at longer times, but I’m pretty sensitive to that too.

Fandoms go a bit of a way towards making me like teas though – sadly. :P

Sil

i just want dr who tins… it’s terrible.. i just want them all.

Sil

OH! can you post a picture of what the tin looks like in RL? on FB? :)

TeaLady441

I did – it’s on my wall! (not in the group)

Backlog: I’ve had this every morning ever since my tin came in last week. I didn’t add it each time because that’d be boring, but I should do it once in a while so that the # of tasting notes help reflect how much I like drinking it.

Sil

You can add it without commenting. Then only you see it.

Excellent advice!

This is pretty tasty, and if I weren’t mentally exhausted I would be able to describe it. It’s not the best black blend I’ve had but it’s enjoyable. A bit astringent, a bit sweet, as well as strong.

I’m playing Doodle or Die right now: http://doodleordie.com/profile/cavocorax It’s fun if you guys haven’t tried it. It’s “telephone” with drawings – you draw it, someone else describes it, and a third person has to draw whatever the 2nd person said. So you can see how the pictures evolve.

My drawings are pretty out there, but some people make ART out of theirs.

JustJames

cool! haven’t heard of that game!

Fjellrev

Doodle or Die looks dangerously addictive. I love the hat one! Such a crazy evolution.

This was a sample from Shadowfall and now it’s gone! :O

This one is a blueberry tea – very creamy and light – it makes me think of a scone! But I can’t really taste the oolong in there. Oolong be gone? IDK.

It’s really tasty though. I’m enjoying this cup, and will see if it’ll handle a re-steep too!

ETA: There wasn’t enough for a re-steep, but I suspect that I would have enjoyed this more if I’d steeped it for just a little longer. I"ll have to try it again someday!

Shadowfall

Well, I didn’t pick it out. Lol!
And I don’t think I ever got a successful resteep when I made it. Kinda a one hit wonder, but tasty nonetheless.

TeaLady441

I find a lot of the Adagio teas are like that – well a lot of cheaper teas are like that so that’s just how it goes. I don’t even try to re-steep TARDIS most of the time, but with 6 oz I’m well stocked.

Shadowfall

True. You’re paying for the art and idea of drinking the fandom (which sounds really weird to say the more I think about it) more than for a tea that’ll resteep. Lol.

Oh yeah! My TARDIS tin came in, along with some Jane Austen Mafia (which.. truth be told is VERY similiar-I think one has an EG base while the other has a black cream base), and a few other samples via Shadowfall who was kind enough to ship it over the border for me.

And if it wasn’t for Shadowfall I would never have had my order because I’m not going to pay $27+for shipping. I’m hard-pressed to pay $15 for other companies but I’ll do it occasionally if I’m ordering enough tea, but $27? No way.

I’m so happy though – I really do love this tea even though it’s probably not the highest quality and a good chunk of my enjoyment comes from the fandom. I’m very, very happy. :D

I have the prettiest tin! (http://s12.postimg.org/4bcrc9jf1/971554_499524890127459_553092188_n.jpg)

It’s a sample sipdown!
For some reason this is really reminding me of the dark grassy notes from DT’s Ceylon Spring, instead of a warm golden yunnan. Maybe I didn’t rinse my timolino well enough last time? Will update this note later if I get a chance when I resteep it!

ETA: Ok, this is much better. Must have had some residue because this cup is much brighter and cleaner than the other one. Less grassy notes – more honey. It’s a really enjoyable tea, but as I’d said before, too expensive for me to restock when I don’t think I’m quite at the point where I’ll appreciate the beauty of this one.

Sometimes I’m happy enough with the McDonald’s version.

I feel bad rating this so low, but it’s not for me. I’m not generally a big fan of Earl Grey’s to begin with and this one comes across as too perfumey for me.

I’ll add to my sample box or something.

I forgot how strong rooibos can taste – I hope I don’t regret getting this sample, but for $5 for a pack, how could I? (I also snapped up the black variety pack too!)

The banana liquor is very tasty, although I wish the rooibos wasn’t quite so medicinal. I’ll play around with the steep times a bit before I rate it because this has all the potential. :D I’m also pretty happy with this company so far, and I want to like their teas.

Oh, this is great. I need great teas today. I feel like the rug has been pulled out from beneath me, and part of that is the baby waking up at 4 and not really going back to sleep, and the other part is finding out my favourite coworker was fired today and I didn’t get to say goodbye.

I’m using social media to contact her and trying to arrange a goodbye lunch or something as a lot of people really like her and will miss her.

It’s hard to think though.

This tea though… this tea is smooth and creamy and rich and it’s not like drinking warm butter because that would be gross, but instead it’s just luxurious and comforting.

And I’m out of this, but I won’t add to my shopping list because I have a feeling this milk oolong is like other milk oolongs and I can get cheaper elsewhere.

OMGsrsly

Oh, that really sucks. I hope everything goes well for her.

TeaLady441

Thanks. I think it will – they gave her a decent severance package (they said) as well options to go for re-training etc so maybe it’s ok? I know she wasn’t happy here, and butted head with the new manager – who just got promoted from acting office manager to actual office manager TODAY – hence the firing.

Uniquity

I know I’ve worked in a law firm too long, but if she has been there a decent period of time they would have to have a really good argument for letting her go. If she feels things weren’t handled appropriately, I would recommend she get a consultation with an employment lawyer to make sure she isn’t pushed around. Apologies if that isn’t the case, and I wish her luck either way! I hope you can make other work friends. :)

TeaLady441

Thanks for the advice! If I get a chance to have lunch with her and she brings it up, I’ll pass that on! She had at least 5+ years there, and the biggest problem is just a personality isuse between her and the new boss. With the old one (who left 3 months ago), everything was smooth.

OMGsrsly

Wow. Yeah, I was ‘laid off’ from a job because the management and I did not get along, and I was actively looking for other employment. I had been there 11 months but got, I think, 5 weeks severance plus my vacation. :)
