1598 Tasting Notes

I’m bumping the rating on this as I enjoyed it more than before. I’m still super tired and seeing flashy bright spots but that’s what I get for getting 5 hours sleep: a combination of staying up too late to finish a knitting project I was excited about, and having the baby wake up an hour earlier than she should.

I’m hoping the guayasa does it’s thing. This is nice and mild, but I do feel slightly more alert than before!

Terri HarpLady

I still haven’t tried any guayusa teas yet…& although I love the name of this one, the flavor combo justs sounds meh to me. I guess I should request a sample & actually give it a try before I decide I won’t like it. Maybe on my next order?

TeaLady441

You want some of mine? I have too much for how often I’ll drink it, but it was cheap.

Terri HarpLady

Maybe set a little aside for some future trade (cuz we know there will be on, lol) :)

Fuzzy_Peachkin

I hope this one helps you stay awake- I’m afraid to drink this one because I swear it put me to sleep!

TeaLady441

So far I’m awake? I’ve had more tea than food so far today though – not just guayusa. :D

drank Vanilla Comoro by Harney & Sons
1598 tasting notes

If Sil and Kittena jumped off a bridge, would I jump too?

Maybe?

They both reviewed this earlier so I decided this would be my goodnight tea too! For some reason the taste is odd on this. Maybe it’s because of my mug? Idk. Further experiments are required.

JustJames

ooh… now i didn’t order this sample, because it was decaffeinated. but i did grab the straight vanilla tea.

TeaBrat

for a decaf this is really good!

Terri HarpLady

If it was a bridge over a lake of a yummy black tea, you’re damn right I’d jump! LOL

drank Paris by Harney & Sons
1598 tasting notes

A little bit of Paris at my side is just what I need! I just sent a stressful email out to a family member, telling them what I felt about their behaviour, and now I’m just anxiously awaiting a reply, any reply. :(

Ugh. Families are so complicated.

Sil

hear hear! but at least there’s tea :)

JustJames

what was the quote from the lion king? ’There’s one in every family, sire. Two in mine, actually. And they always manage to ruin special occasions.’

TeaLady441

Yep. That’s a fact! :)
And Lion King quotes make so happy! It’s one of my favourite Hamlet adaptations. :p

JustJames

you too? no one ever agreed with me on that!!!

TeaLady441

Really? But it’s the only one that ends fairly happily!

drank Florence by Harney & Sons

Good, this is so goood, it’s just … yeah.

Good.

Although truth be told I’m not as enamored with it as I was before. Maybe because I just ate some nut oat bar and I am nutted out?

I made this and H&S’s Florence this morning and thought I’d better drink this one first before my taste buds were corrupted by nommy flavoured tea.

I wasn’t sure about this one, but figured it’s a sample and a quick sipdown so why not get on it? And it’s great! Why do I always forget how great non-black teas are?

This really smells like honey, and it’s sweet, and tastes a bit like straw and grass. This is really gentle and delicious. It’s also a little toasy! I immediately want 4 more cups!

I’ll have to re-order this from Zen or somewhere else!

How was the second steep?

Indigobloom

How was the second steep?

TeaLady441

Just as good! I could have kept going with it but work got in the way!

Indigobloom

Hmmm why did that double post!
Oooh that happens to me alot. Makes me appreciate those times when I can keep going even more :D

I like this more than the Silver Buds Yabao, although I’m still not crazy about it. I just want something stronger – this is too mild for me and I can’t coax out enough flavours.

Maybe I’m doing it wrong, but this was a sipdown. Maybe I’ll try another sample once I get a greater appreciation for non-black teas.

JustJames

i love the silver buds in a latte, this one just doesn’t do it for me though.

Fuzzy_Peachkin

This is a potpourri tea!

drank Pu-erh by Harney & Sons
1598 tasting notes

Woah! I can’t believe it: it’s a pu-erh and I like it! I gave it a quick 10 second rinse because I heard that was a thing to do, and then I steeped it for 2 minutes.

Yes, it tastes dark and earthy but it’s good. It’s slightly smokey and sweet which add a bit of depth to the flavour. Excellent! I don’t really feel qualified to judge this because I couldn’t tell you if this was a good puerh or not, or if it’s raw or whatever the other one is, but now I can venture out and explore more puerh.

I’ve got 2 samples coming from Teavivre so this is excellent news.
I’m no longer afraid of Puerh!

Sil

haha just wait until you get out here! (can you tell i’m excited?!)

TeaLady441

Hahaha. Yeah I have an idea that you want a joint Mandala order in the future. :D

Sil

yeah unless i get suckered in to cakes… EEP!

ashmanra

Good to know! I have 48 Harney teas on shelf right now but I have never tried their shu puerh. I do have a raw Ziyun Mao Cha that they haven’t carried in years but it is aging nicely, and I had their green tea cake, which is a puerh type tea but could not be labeled puerh because it wasn’t grown in Yunnan. I need to try this one!

TeaLady441

Are all puerh’s from Yunnan? Because I do like black Yunnan teas!
\

Sil

…going to have to put together a poo package for you cavo…or when you come here we can get together once a week for puerh together! (poo in the park with the little one?) haha

TeaLady441

Haha. Poo in the park sounds fun. :P

Plunkybug

Poo in the park…lol

Yep! This one again! I’m not sick of it yet. :D

ETA: Apparently this was my 600th tasting note. What a waste?

Fjellrev

Not a waste at all. Congratulations!

CHAroma

Congrats!

I can’t remember what peach cobble tastes like, but I can say that this is pretty good. It’s mild, and fruity, with warm peach notes and something buttery/pastry-like hovering in the back. It’s slightly sweet and slightly comforting too for this frazzled Monday morning.

There’s a lot of sediment at the bottom of this cup though. This was a pretty good $1 sample though!
