467 Tasting Notes
Lovely scent and taste. Not too ginger-y but like a nice gingerbread cookie taste. I was glad the rooibos wasn’t too woodsy and allowed the gingerbread to really shine. This tea tasted good even after I poured the cup and left it in the kitchen for 2 hours. I drank it room temperature and it was fine. Sometimes rooibos teas can get too strong when they sit too long but this was good. I drank the next one hot and it was even more satisfying. The tea wasn’t very chai but that was really no problem for me.
Thanks NayLynn and Brandon for this tea.
This is a very enjoyable cuppa. The blueberry seems to be spot on perfect. No artificial blueberry flavoring. I did use a little stevia which I think helped bring out the blueberry nicely.
I was surprised that it didn’t have either a blue or purple color. I’ve never had a purple tea before so maybe I had a false expectation.
Does anyone know the caffeine levels in purple tea?
This is the third time this week that the refrigerator repair man has had to come out.
ANNOYING!! I hate sitting around waiting for someone to come and then waiting while they do the work. Errrrg.
I’ve never had purple tea, and I always thought it would brew up purple or blue, too. haha
The tea sounds absolutely yummy.
So sorry you’re stuck waiting for a repair person… I always get so anxious when I’m waiting around for a plumber, or something like that. I’ve put off having my stove fixed for the exact reason. haha
At least sitting around waiting for repair guys gives you a good reason to sip tea while you’ve got nothing else to do.
The leaf itself does look purple. Check it out here: http://www.tearesearch.or.ke/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=42&Itemid=36. It’s not always easy to tell by the finished product though. I’ve noticed just about all of the purple teas do have at least a slight purple tone to the liquor. If you use a white cup, look around the edges to see the purple hue. Our Steamed Purple Green has the most purple brew of the Kenyan purple teas that I have tried.
The leaf is gorgeous, Stacy! Now I want to try purple tea in a white cup… (adding steamed purple green to my wishlist…)
I have to say I really enjoy genmaichas generally and this is not a disappointment . :-D Very lovely rice and popped rice along with the green tea. Yummy-licious! It’s such a nice smooth tea. It makes a nice change from the teas I have been drinking lately.
I steeped it a bit longer than recommended because it seemed weak when I took a sample sip.

Although I love the tins I can’t really get excited about the tea. Very weak, mostly clove tea.I generally like chai but this just doesn’t come up to my expectations. There aren’t any nice big cardamom buds/seeds (?) like I am used to seeing in chai. The aroma as I take a sip is good, very chai-like. But there is just no umph in the taste. I brewed it carefully in the Breville so I am pretty sure it was made correctly. Maybe I’ll try to make it on the stove top with milk.
This a very attractive tea. Cute little Star of David marshmallows and little gold balls. What fun!
The tea is a nice caramel/burnt sugar flavor with vanilla and a touch of marshmallow with a nice black tea. I added a bit of stevia just like usual.
The temp is -3 F and a snowstorm is coming.
Yummy tea to pass the evening with a good book.
Flavors: Caramel, Marshmallow, Vanilla
I am not a fan of chamomile so imagine my delight in finding one that I love! :D The most remembered chamomile for me was Sleepytime from Celestial Seasonings. :( Blah! This tea is lovely to look at and the dry scent is very fruity not the rather bland chamomile of my misspent youth.
This tea is awesome. There is a lovely apple/orange/grapefruit and rose aroma. The white tea is gentle and yet flavorful. I mostly taste the apple and some grapefruit. If you had told me that they would be good together I would have thought you were nuts. But… these blend so well together. Nom nom! The very pretty tin says it has hibiscus but I don’t sense it.
This is part of the Chicago tea set: Magnificent ChamoMile, Chai Town and Chicago Jazzmint. The tins are large and very attractive. It’s a great set. There is a total of 9.2 oz in the set. I think it was $27. Not a bad price.
Flavors: Apple, Grapefruit, Orange Zest
Preparation
I made my Chocolate Rocket on the stove today. I simmered 3 tsp of tea in 12 oz of unsweetened vanilla almond milk for about 20 minutes. I sweetened it with some stevia. The unsweetened vanilla almond milk only has 30 calories per cup…so about 45 cal for 12 oz. This is the best substitute for hot chocolate ever. The raspberry of the CR is just lovely when combined with the creamy chocolate.
Mmmm… Just what I needed this afternoon. I have been a bit heavy handed in my leaf measurement lately but luckily was a bit more careful and it really payed off. (I’m not sure why I was overleafing ) Lovely chocolate flavor with a nice nuttiness. I added a bit of stevia but no milk and it is lovely!
Have a wonderful New Year!
Thank you NayLynn for the sample!

Well, I am much chagrined! I feel I was very unfair in my previous tasting note on this tea. This time I went a little lighter on the amount of leaf I used and it is much better. It still doesn’t have a particularly strong pumpkin flavor but it is very enjoyable. Luckily have have enough for several more pots. The rooibos is a bit lighter without the woodsiness getting overwhelming.
Note to self: Even though it said 1-2 tsp on the directions, stick to 1 tsp. :)
