467 Tasting Notes
I have tried another Salted Caramel tea (loose leaf from Teavana) and found that if I add a touch of salt (salt?) to the tea it brings out the caramel a bit more. I tried it that way for this tea and was pleased to have a similar reaction. I couldn’t tell you how much salt. I guess I would say “to taste”. It still is not a great tea but I’ll finish what I received in a swap from 221tea. Thanks for the tea!
Preparation
Thank you Zwi for this lovely EG! I just started to sample the world of EG last winter. Wow, there a ton of EG’s and his relatives out there. I sort of put off drinking this because I had so many for awhile. I am so glad I have this for today. My sprained knee kept me awake all night so I’m grumpy and tired. I don’t usually get up until 8 am. Today I was up at 4:30. Ugh! But luckily I had this tea just waiting for me. It’s lovely. Well balanced with my friend bergamot. I often want tons of bergamot but today I was really hoping the bergamot would take a back seat and let the black sit up front. Yeah! They were just perfect. No astringency or bitterness. Just the right amount of punch you would expect from a EG. I’m glad I got a sample of this to try so now I know that this is a tea I want to buy. I would have been pretty hesitant to buy more EG when I have a bunch in the cupboard. But now… Well, I guess I have to make an excuse to go into Chicago (about 30 miles away) and buy some of this. Oo oo oo! I’ve got an even better idea… my daughters live in Chicago and Mother’s Day is coming up! It sounds like a plan!
Preparation
I envy you for living so close and having an excuse to go to Chicago… so many tea options there! One day I’ll get my Hubby to take me back…this time for tea!
Oh, lol, you thought the important part of that was seeing my daughters! No the important part was getting tea!
Oh no… I gotcha. They are a good excuse to make the trip so you can do some Mother’s Day shopping for yourself. Better yet, get them to take you and buy you some tea for Mother’s Day.. !
I have been putting ice on it. :D I asked my husband to make up an ice bag and put it into towel to wrap it. Suddenly my jeans are cold and wet. I opened the bag… a big hole! When asked, my loving (but thrifty) husband says it was an old bag. I din’t want to waste it!
Mawwage. Mawwage. Wove, twue wove… Princess Bride
This tea has a lovely floral scent and appearance. On first sniff I was in love. Then I began to worry about the evil hibiscus they seem to put in fruity/herbal. And yes, there is a very hibiscus loaded taste. With a bit of stevia the hibby comes under control and leaves the flavor rosy and relaxing.
Preparation
I like a nice sweet tea and this tea certainly fits the bill. I think I’m going try it as a cold tea and see if it brings out the separate flavors. I’m not sensing a macaron taste. There is nothing wrong with this but its not particularly exciting. I would drink this again at the right time.
Okay I just have to add this… The fruit left in the basket are the best snack ever! Get out your spoon and dig in. All the flavors I didn’t find in the tea are hidden in the (?) what should I call it? can’t call it leaves, maybe “used fruit”? , “leavings”? really I’m sure you can think of a word but it is awesome!!
Preparation
Yum, yum, yum! Ya know how it is when you read other’s reviews; ya sorta lower your expectations since they don’t sound very positive. Well, I was delighted try this tea thanks to 221Tea. It has a nice lemon pound cake scent.Sweetened with a little Vanilla Stevia. Very nice cake lemon taste as opposed to the sweet/sour fruity lemon. Nice relaxing, dessert-y tea. Why am I having it before dinner? Well, hopefully it resteeps. If not. well I have gotten about 30 swaps in the last two weeks, so I think I’ll find some thing good. :D
BTW, I don’t put my swaps and samples in my cupboard. What do the rest of you do?
Preparation
Sounds like a good version of lemon tea.
It depends on how much of a sample I have or how quickly I think I’ll use it up as to whether or not a I put it in my cupboard.
It’s amazing how you can take two pretty good teas and make them better. I took two tsp of Afternoon Delight (Gunpowder green) by SereneTeas and one tsp of Apricot (black) by Cameron and threw them in my Breville with 3 cups of water, 5 min steep and a couple drops of Stevia and Oh my goodness! What a lovely tea. I drank a lot of yerba mate this morning and didn’t want toooo much caffeine so I went with a moderately (high) black and green combo. What a scent, what a nice combo! I found before that Afternoon Delight was pleasant but more of a floral herbal taste. Not any more. I don’t taste much apricot but the black gives the Afternoon Delight more body. What a great find for a new cup of tea using what I already had in my cupboard. Always a good, thrifty thing to do!
Flavors: Flowers, Stonefruit
Amy Pond… how I miss you. Sigh! But back to the tea, I am enjoying this fruity chai which reflects Amy’s personality quite well. I added a little French Vanilla Stevia which really brings the flavors together! The cranberry and raspberry add just a little to the chai spices. Quite enjoyable.
Preparation
I was lucky enough to get this tea from Deliriums Frogs. It is a nice tea with a bit of caramel, nutty green tea. The nuttiness may be from the sesame seeds. It’s a nice light and relaxing cuppa!
Preparation
I received this tea as one of the samples from JustOrganicTea. Very nice aroma and taste. I tend to drink my chais a bit stronger than some people so that I can add a touch of almond milk and sweetener. There really wasn’t enough in the sample to add more leaf. The spices are well balanced without any flavors overwhelming the others, instead just supporting the overall tastiness of the chai. This is a nice chai that I would enjoy frequently. It’s making a good wake-up cup of tea on another cold, rainy spring morning. There are some chais that have a bit more punch that I would prefer but this is still one I would keep around. It was simply “Charming”.
Preparation
I always try to go with a tea without caffeine or a tisane in the evenings. I have never heard of a tulsi so I looked it up. There wasn’t much that I could see on the Just Organic tea site so I did a search and got this from learn_about_tea.com
Holy basil tea, a flavorful hot brew or iced drink, is made from the leaves and blossoms of the revered tulsi or holy basil plant.
Also known as tulsi tea, the popular herbal brew originated in India thousands of years ago and is known for its rich antioxidant and adaptogenic properties that promote wellness and longevity.
These properties support the body’s natural defense systems at the cellular level and fight against germs, stress, and disease. Drinking tulsi herbal tea on a regular basis is thought to “rejuvenate the soul” by helping to balance metabolism, promote physical and emotional endurance, and enhance thought processes. Tulsi is often referred to as the “queen of herbs” and has been an integral tonic of India’s holistic health system of Ayurvedic medicines. There are three types of tulsi plants: Rama, Krishna and/or Vana. The leaves are often blended with tea and/or other herbs and fruits for added flavor when brewed. Tulsi is caffeine free like other herbal infusions and contains vitamins A and C, calcium, zinc, iron and chlorophyll.
The tea is very tasty with a smooth herbal taste and aroma. There is a bit of spicy taste but it is well balanced. I sweetened it with a little vanilla stevia and I’m enjoying it even more.
