2987 Tasting Notes
A tart and fruity blend. I tried it iced with white grape juice and it was nice made with juice. I’m not sure I would enjoy it hot because of the hibiscus, but it isn’t too bad cold. It made a nice refreshing drink that I could see myself enjoying by the pool side.
Flavors: Flowers, Fruit Punch, Hibiscus, Lemongrass, Tart
Preparation
I really like the spice combination in this. Lots of interesting herbal notes. I taste citrus (lemon grass and maybe catnip or lemon mint?), a medium intensity mint, and something floral. Very nice hot and cold.
Flavors: Citrus, Floral, Herbs, Lemongrass, Mint, Peppermint, Spices
Preparation
Drinkable, but not very good (for a chai). It doesn’t have a lot of vanilla flavour. I taste ginger, maybe cinnamon?, and WAY too much licorice root. The licorice makes is kind of gross because it is sickly sweet.
I love some of DAVIDs’ other chai blends so this is very disappointing. A better name would have been “sweet licorice”. I would have liked some peppercorns and cloves in this blend to even out the licorice root.
I don’t think this blend is terrible, but I was expecting a chai and this is missing key chai spices. It’s like there wasn’t room in the ingredients list for any more spices so they just make licorice the first ingredient.
Flavors: Anise, Ginger, Licorice
Preparation
I taste lots of cinnamon and spice, a sweet dried fruit flavour, and orange zest. I steeped it in almost boiling water until the liquid was a medium brown. The cinnamon or orange zest makes it a tiny bit bitter, which is odd, but I like the spice combination. It tastes a lot like a cough drop.
Flavors: Apple, Bitter, Cinnamon, Dried Fruit, Orange Zest, Spices
Preparation
This is the last of my sample from Tea in Spoons. I’m drinking this iced because I’ve had it hot before and it was too acidic/tart. I steeped it in a cup of cold water+ice until the colour was a medium pink.
Flavors: Fruit Punch, Fruity, Pineapple, Pleasantly Sour, Strawberry, Tart
