Monday – Green Tea / Day 2 of Lion’s Tea Challenge
80 mL water + 25 mL hot milk + 1/2 tsp matcha power (writing is in Japanese, I don’t know they brand)
Ick! I forgot I do not like matcha by itself. Maybe I have not had a good matcha, because I like matcha icecream and frappachinos. Anyway. This is bitter and gross. It tastes like green tea and kelp :P Maybe I’ll use the rest to make homemade blended ice drinks, I can’t see myself drinking this again.
Flavors: Bitter, Green, Seaweed

Monday – Green Tea / Day 2 of Lion’s Tea Challenge
Very basic and generic grocery store quality bagged tea. I do find this a bit astringent and a tad bitter. The green tea is fairly mild, not really vegetal or grassy, but it tastes like a green tea.
Flavors: Astringent, Bitter, Green

Monday – Green Tea / Day 2 of Lion’s Tea Challenge
Smells like rice and green tea, very promising.
Medium temperature water, let it steep while I went to put a load in the washer, came back to find very astringent green tea. Oops, guess I oversteeped it. This is completely my fault, but I feel this is not a very forgiving tea bag.
Anyway, other than a bit of bitterness and the astringency , I really like the light rice flavour. I’m not a fan of the green tea base used in cheaper grocery store teas, but I knew that before I bought this. I definitely taste grain and rice, maybe lightly toasted. I would not buy it again, but brewed correctly it would be enjoyable for those who like bagged green teas.
Flavors: Astringent, Grain, Green, Rice, Vegetal

Sunday / Day 1 – White Tea
I’m doing the week of different teas challenge Lion is doing.
The loose tea smells like dry tea leaves and like the inside of a store that sells high end furniture and home décor. The leaves are thin and small, they look like rosemary (no herb or rosemary flavour though) but are light silvery green and have short white hairs.
First steep: 2 minutes, 450 mL of fairly hot water (not boiling)
Steeps very light , almost clear
Smells very sweet and fruity
Tastes like candy and apricot, absolutely delicious and very sweet. I taste light tannins so it does taste like a tea, but it has a natural fruity sweetness I love.
Second steep: 3 minutes hotish water (not boiling)
Smells a bit floral and like white tea
I taste raspberry and apricot, very subtle sweetness, light tannins, delicate and clear tea taste. This is a phenomenal tea, probably the best unflavoured white tea I own.
Flavors: Apricot, Floral, Fruity, Raspberry, Stonefruit, Sweet, Tannin
Preparation
I tasted no chocolate, a bit of citrus-y zest (did not taste like orange though) and a bunch of spices (but not any specific ones). Very disappointing because I was hoping it would taste like Terry’s Chocolate Oranges. I didn’t get any green tea either.
Flavors: Orange Zest, Sour, Spices
Preparation
I really like citrus spiced teas and lime flavour, so I thought I would like this. I took one sip and gave it to the person I was with. I do taste lime rind, but mostly I describe the flavour is extremely bitter, acrid, and disgustingly unpleasant. One of the worst teas I have ever had, but I can see how others might enjoy it.
Flavors: Bitter, Citrus Zest, Lime, Sour, Tart

Backlog
Tastes like soapy coconut, flavourful black tea, and stevia. i enjoy diet sodas but I greatly dislike the taste of artificial sweeteners in tea. I do think many others would really enjoy this blend, but is is not for me.
Flavors: Artificial, Coconut, Fruity, Soap, Sweet, Tannin
