2987 Tasting Notes
I was very surprised to find I actually enjoy this blend. Most peach teas taste artificial to me or are sickly sweet (stevia) but this one tasted natural and was not too sweet or overpowering. I could even taste the pleasant tea base.
I can taste several fruits, most notable stone fruits like apricot and peach. I also taste some other fruit, but I’m not sure what it is. They served my tea super hot (boiling) so I burnt my tongue and couldn’t taste as much. There is a bit of sweetness, like nectar and ripe fruit. I find this adds to the overall appeal.
I may try this iced some day, I think it would be fantastic served cold.
Flavors: Apricot, Fruity, Nectar, Peach, Stonefruit, Tea
Preparation
They gave me boiling hot water with the teabag already in it, so I made sure I took the teabag out pretty quick. I suspect if you left the teabag in longer than ?I did you would end up with gross overpowering flavour. Try ~2 minutes, taste, than try steeping longer if needed.
Day 4 of Lion’s Week of Tea challenge
Wednesday | Yellow tea
So I just picked this up the other day. as a free Starbucks reward. Since Teavana os owned by Starbucks, you can get loose tea/a free cup from there instead of a free Starbuck’s coffee. Anyway, I got 28g of Golden Dragon, my second yellow tea. I really like yellow teas, they offer many of the nice parts of green teas but without the grassy/stem flavours and no astringency or bitterness. I’m really liking this yellow tea streak I’m on.
This is a bit less toasty than my other yellow tea (“Yellow Sun” from What-Cha), I actually found it to be a bit like a black tea in that it has a strong and complex flavour with lots of tannins (but not in a bitter or overpowering way). I appreciate the tannins and flavour without the unpleasantness often associated.
There is a bit of a “mineral” taste, but not any specific metals. I do not find it overpowering or distasteful at all.
You can steep this several times, I would say probably 3 small teapots/large mugs.
Flavors: Honey, Mineral, Round, Tannin
Preparation
I do find the cinnamon a tad sickly sweet, which is dislike. It does taste like real cinnamon though, rather than that artificial flavour. Otherwise, I really like the spices and rooibos, however I wouldn’t mind a stronger rooibos flavour.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Creamy, Spices, Spicy, Sweet, Vanilla
Preparation
mmmm cocoa and oxidized oolong. It’s like drinking latte, very complex and creamy. The cocoa is a bit bittersweet but in a good way. I taste no cherry, but the cocoa is enough for me.
I think this blend tastes like a coffee shop in Paris. There is the coffee/espresso that tastes very urban to me, but then the sophisticated mix of dark chocolate and cream are in there too.
Flavors: Cocoa, Coffee, Dark Chocolate, Roasted Barley, Toasted, Toasted Rice
Preparation
I just love this tea so much.
First steep: 2 minutes, 500 mL almost boiling water.
Steeps a very pretty gold colour and smells like straw and tannins.
Tastes mild and lightly roasted, no bitterness or astringency. I really like how light the flavour is, more like a white tea than a green.Slightly sweet in a toasted grain kind of way.
Second steep 3.5 minutes 500 mL hotish water
Slightly stronger tea flavour but less toasty. Slightly sweet but there is also a tiny bit of cardboard or paper taste. Still not bitter or astringent.
In the future I will make this using more leaves but much less water and much shorter steeps. I could see this giving 10 or so steeps if I was using less water.
Flavors: Grain, Rice, Sweet, Tannin, Tea, Toasty
