630 Tasting Notes
Very grapey and sweet, and very good. I really am enjoying the Golden Tips subscription – I was never a huge black tea fan before, particularly unflavored. Now I am realizing how much more they have to offer. As a fan of sweeter flavors, this one is right up my alley.
Preparation
This reminded me so much of chai. It was yummy, but to me did not really embody the “cake” aspect of things. I imagine a little sweetener might solve that. I didn’t expect the green tea to play nearly as well with the flavors as it did, this is normally a flavor I would expect in a black tea, or maybe a nutty oolong.
Preparation
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this. I normally don’t like chocolate teas because they have this sort of “wisp” of chocolate that makes me just wish it were the real thing. But the base tea is very rich and nutty and gives the chocolate a little thickness that makes it not taste watery at all. The jasmine is very present as well, and it all works together. I really really enjoyed this.
Preparation
This is super duper floral, and very pretty to look at. I enjoy it, but I am not sure I like florals paired with a puerh base. To me it sort of muddied up the floral, which possibly cuts down on it being too perfumey…but I would have preferred a bit less muddle. But I love lavender.
Preparation
This smells just like pumpkin pie spice when it is dry – which to me is good. I dislike pumpkin pie immensely, but enjoy spicy chai and such. The flavor isn’t super pumpkin-y, which is good, but I find I don’t enjoy the spice in this as much as I would a chai. Good if you enjoy pumpkin pie, but not the best I’ve ever had. Beware oversteeping as this will get bitter.
Preparation
This to me tasted very much like a before-bed kind of tea, probably because of the lavender. I can taste it and the rose, but not so much the orange. I really enjoyed this, but for whatever reason it didn’t call out to me as something I have to have around at all times.
Preparation
I was actually kind of surprised by how lime-y this was when I took my first sip. In the bag it was citrussy, but not overwhelming. I definitely think I prefer this cold, but I typically do not prefer red rooibos iced. For some reason, the woodiness and natural sweetness lend better to warm temperatures. That said, artificial fruit flavors tend to taste better to me cold. So really, this one was a bit of a dud. I bet I would have adored it as an iced tea if it were a green rooibos.
Preparation
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this, but I must say I prefer it a lot more cold steeped. The tartness goes away, the rose gets to come through a hair more (though I still wish it were stronger), and it tastes like less sweet juice. Which sometimes is exactly what I like. The almond flavor is present and keeps things interesting, but doesn’t stop it from being weird to drink cold.
Preparation
This is super awesome, but I pretty much always feel that way about peach oriented things. I think this tea is particularly juicy-tasting though, and to me is less artificial tasting than most.
