1118 Tasting Notes
Tea of the morning. This is an unusual Keemun. It’s light and fruity with underlying honey notes. There might be a little chocolate, but the plum, raisin, and dried date notes are at the forefront. I pick up the pine – very light and clean – in the smell, but I don’t taste it. There’s no smoke even at the end of the sip. Overall, I like this a lot. For me, this is an afternoon tea. I think the lighter body and soft sweetness of the tea will be wonderful as an afternoon pick-me-up.
Preparation
My order from Whispering Pines arrived today, and I’m happy to have this one back in my cupboard and my cup. It’s biscuity with notes of squash, malt, honey, stone fruit and salted caramel. Delicious!
Preparation
Tea of the morning. I feel like I’m in a loop with my breakfast teas, but I like them all so much that drinking them over and over again is a pleasure. Today it is North Winds, and the molasses note I tasted last time showed up today, too. I’m not sure if I missed it in all of my previous cups or if the flavor is stronger in this particular set of leaves, but regardless it is really, really delicious. It lends a fall flavor to an already full bodied tea. So, chocolate, cherry, malt, and molasses… is it any wonder that I’m happy to wake up to this tea?
Preparation
Tea of the morning. I sipped on this while sitting on my front porch watching the lunar eclipse. Everything was calm and lovely. I enjoyed the mix of fruity, spicy, malty notes in this tea while watching nature do her thing.
Preparation
Tea of the morning. This one continues to be as good as ever. There’s depth in the cocoa and malt notes which mingles with a sweet hay-like flavor and the tiny whisper of smoke right at the end. Really, really nice. This is also a tea that resteeps beautifully and has a consistent flavor from one steep to another.
Long live the Queen.
Preparation
Backlogging.
This is creamy and sweet with a great coconut flavor. I caught a hint of pastry as the tea cooled, but the coconut was definitely the star of the show. I was on the fence about buying this one, but I’m glad I picked it up because it’ll be a nice tisane to have in my nighttime/ caffeine free tea rotation.
Preparation
The dark chocolaty notes in this tea is so good, and combined with the mint it’s gooooood. Because I can I added cream and sugar, and I’ve enjoyed every single sip. This tea seems almost too simple on the surface (tea and mint!), but it’s great and a good example of how sometimes the simplest things are the best.
Preparation
Yeah, sadly, as good as this is, it had to go to make room for more unique and thought-out blends. :( still available for special order though! Minimum would be 4oz
I woke up to a chilly house this morning. For the first time in months I found myself putting on my slippers and grabbing my warmest robe before heading to the kitchen. I decided this would be a good tea to help chase the chills away. I found the cocoa note mixed with the light smokiness really pleasing today. I want to say it’s comforting, but it’s also peppy and invigorating. I guess a good tea can be all of the above. :)
Preparation
Yay for robes and slippers! Had our first almost-frost night Friday; I slept so much better in a cooler house. And tea tastes better in the morning, too, doesn’t it?
Yum!
