AJRimmer Advent Day 11

AJRimmer mentioned that she prefers this one cold, so I decided to cold brew it this morning and drank it this afternoon. It brewed up the most gorgeous ruby-red color…very Christmassy. :) The flavor really didn’t read melon for me. It was fruity, but also a bit tart. I was thinking cranberry, but reading the ingredients list, I think it was actually the pomegranate I was picking up on most strongly. I wish it had been more melon-like, as I haven’t ever had a good watermelon tea that I can remember. But it was still tasty!

Flavors: Fruity, Pomegranate, Tart

AJRimmer Advent Day 10

This was a pleasant fruity blend. Can’t say I picked up on mango or pear specifically, but definitely fruity with hints of bergamot. The base tea is too light for milk, so it didn’t really come across as a traditional earl grey…thinking it would be better as a cold brew or iced tea.

Flavors: Bergamot, Fruity

Boiling 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

AJRimmer Advent Day 9

My husband and I split a small pot of this on Saturday. Neither of us picked up on much strawberry flavor, but we enjoyed the mix of spearmint and lime over a very smooth, light black tea base!

Flavors: Lime, Smooth, Spearmint

I didn’t realize this was supposed to be a pumpkin spice tea until getting on Steepster to review it and I honestly didn’t taste any pumpkin in my cup this morning. What I did get was a well-balanced blend of warming spices: clove and cinnamon for sure and I loved the hint of nutmeg, as that’s a personal favorite. There’s some creamy vanilla flavor going on in the background as well that’s quite pleasant. I think I would have personally enjoyed this even more on a black tea base, but it’s still quite delicious!

Flavors: Cinnamon, Clove, Creamy, Nutmeg, Vanilla

Preparation
Boiling 7 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

This is probably my favorite pumpkin spice blend. I’ll have to try it sometime with a scoop of black tea in my infuser!

Mastress Alita

Bird & Blend already makes a black tea version of it (that predates the caffeine-free Baby Spice) called “Spiced Pumpkin Pie.”

Inkling

Ooo, thanks for the heads-up, Mastress Alita! Might need to add that one to my wish list. :)

AJRimmer Advent Day 7

Mmm, this is such a nice white tea base! It smells like fresh-cut hay…and I mean that as a compliment. ;) The flavoring is quite light. I don’t get much strawberry at all, but there is definitely a hint of that angel food cake coming through that compliments the base tea really well. While I wouldn’t mind a bit more flavor, I am quite enjoying this one!

Flavors: Cake, Hay

AJRimmer Advent Day 6

My whole kitchen smelled amazing while this tea was brewing! It has the most mouthwatering buttery-sweet aroma, just like cookies baking in the oven. And the flavor is nearly is good as the scent: sweet and rich with notes of caramel and butter and baked goods all on a nice robust black tea base. I would be completely in love with this one if it weren’t for the stevia the popped out in the aftertaste…a disappointing finish to an otherwise lovely tea.

Flavors: Butter, Caramel, Cookie, Sweet

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 30 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

BOO stevia lol.

AJRimmer

Shoot, I didn’t check the B&B labels for stevia because I incorrectly had faith that they wouldn’t include it in their teas :P sorry about that!

Inkling

No worries, AJRimmer! The blend itself is so good, it almost makes up for the stevia. :)

AJRimmer Advent Day 5

If the packet didn’t say this was a black tea, I would have thought it was an oolong. The base tea is super smooth and has a bit of a floral note. The flavor came across a bit muddy to me. Maybe a bit of caramel and a bit of fruit? But overall, just a muddled jumble of sweetish flavor.

AJRimmer Advent Day 4

I tried this one both hot and cold this morning and I think it’s better cold. The lemon flavor is smooth and natural with just a touch of sweetness. I didn’t really get any marshmallow/meringue flavor, which would have been a nice addition, but this was still quite enjoyable!

Flavors: Lemon, Sweet

AJRimmer Advent Day 3

I tend to shy away from cherry flavoring, as it can so easily go medicinal for me. Thankfully, this one didn’t have that artificial sweetness that brings back memories of childhood cough medicine! The cherry flavor was fairly natural with a bit of tartness from the hibiscus. It was a bit weird drinking it hot; I’m thinking it would have been more enjoyable iced or as a cold brew.

Flavors: Cherry, Sour, Tart

AJRimmer Advent Day 2

I love coconut and I love smoky teas, so this blend sounded right up my alley…and it was! A delicious creamy coconut flavor that filled up my mouth with buttery richness and then relaxed into a subtle smokiness at the end of the sip. This was addictively delicious and definitely my favorite of the calendar so far! If 52Teas ever does a re-blend, I’m going to be all over this one.

Bio

“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.” ~ C.S. Lewis

I was introduced to loose leaf tea by a roommate in 2012, but it wasn’t until I stumbled upon Steepster in 2014 that I discovered a world of tea that went beyond Teavana and the grocery store.

My tastes continue to evolve, but black tea is currently my favorite. I am especially drawn to strong, malty breakfast blends to wake me up in the morning and flavored dessert teas to sip throughout the day.

Just about everything in my cupboard is available to swap, so feel free to ask!
