drank Cloud 9 by Fava Tea Company

I’m on a quest to find some delicious fruity herbal blends for making iced tea this summer and this one came highly recommended by the clerk at my local Fava store. I wasn’t disappointed! This is one of the more unusual blends I’ve tried, with a distinct kiwi flavor balanced by a hint of sour cherry. (And NO hibiscus, yay!) I am absolutely flying through my sample ounce and will definitely be re-purchasing!

Flavors: Cherry, Fruity, Pleasantly Sour

Preparation
Boiling 8 min or more 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

I love most of the blends I’ve tried from TeaSource, but I’m not a fan of their rooibos. No matter what they flavor it with, I always mainly taste that sharp, medicinal rooibos base. This one is, unfortunately, no exception. There are hints of mild chocolate and coconut flavor, but not enough to satisfy me. Definitely won’t be re-purchasing this one.

Flavors: Medicinal, Rooibos

Boiling 8 min or more 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

drank Coconut Chai by Zhena's Gypsy Tea

This is quite possibly the best bagged Chai I’ve ever had! Rich and flavorful with lots of cardamom (just the way I like it!) and a nice hint of creamy coconut. It’s smooth enough to drink straight but also takes milk well. I foresee this one becoming a staple in my cupboard!

Flavors: Cardamom, Coconut, Creamy, Smooth, Spices

Preparation
Boiling 5 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

The name pretty much says it all! This tea is supposed to have orange in it, but all I taste is super sweet, super spicy cinnamon, as if I melted a bunch of Red Hots into my cup. A bit too over-the-top for me.

Flavors: Candy, Cinnamon, Spicy, Sweet

Preparation
Boiling 4 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

This is one of my favorite blends that I’ve tried from A Quarter to Tea! Their maple flavoring is perfect, natural and not too sweet. Mixed with the creaminess of the vanilla, it makes for a decadent bedtime treat. And bonus: no unpleasant rooibos aftertaste! I would definitely consider re-ordering this one.

Flavors: Maple, Vanilla

Preparation
Boiling 8 min or more 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

I’ve been wanting to try this tea for a while and finally had the opportunity yesterday. Republic of Tea is pretty hit and miss for me, but this one was a hit! Sweet, rich, caramel and vanilla flavoring layered over a pleasantly smooth black base. Very tasty with no additives and I’m guessing it would be delicious as a latte as well. Methinks I’ll be purchasing this one the next time I place a RoT order!

Flavors: Caramel, Smooth, Sweet, Vanilla

Preparation

I’ve only tried 3 teas from Republic of Tea, and I didn’t care for them. However, I might give this one a try when I can. It sounds splendid!

I’ve always wanted to give this one a go.

I grabbed a sample of this from the Herbal TTB weeks ago and finally got around to trying it today. Although it’s not as good as the gingerbread rooibos from Capital Teas, I do quite enjoy this one. The ginger flavor isn’t too strong and the addition of cinnamon and vanilla does give you a taste that resembles a gingerbread cookie. Like most Republic of Tea offerings, I prefer using 2 teabags with this one for a stronger flavor.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Ginger, Vanilla

Preparation
Boiling 5 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Next to Banana Nut Pancakes, this is my favorite tea I received in my recent AQTT order! The white tea base is light and sweet and blends perfectly with the rich cakey flavor of the tea. The eggnog flavor is spot-on and the cake notes are definitely present as well. Lovely!

Flavors: Cake, Eggnog, Nutmeg

Preparation

How did you brew it?

Inkling

Western-style at 180F. I intended to steep it for 4 minutes, but got busy with something and over-steeped it by a minute or two, which only strengthened the flavor!

Awesome. Thanks for sharing :)

drank Licorice Spice by Stash Tea

This tea is exactly what the name would suggest: a strong, chai-like spice blended with a licorice flavor that leaves a lingering sweetness in the back of your throat. Personally, I find this one too sweet to drink on an everyday basis, but I could see myself really enjoying it when I have a cold.

Flavors: Cardamom, Cinnamon, Licorice, Sweet

I detest the taste of chamomile, but drink it occasionally due to my insomnia. This is one of those blends that has enough flavoring to cover up the taste of the chamomile: all you really taste is apple and cinnamon. The flavor is a bit weak and artificial, but it gets the job done!

Flavors: Apple, Cinnamon

Preparation
Boiling 5 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Bio

“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.” ~ C.S. Lewis

I was introduced to loose leaf tea by a roommate in 2012, but it wasn’t until I stumbled upon Steepster in 2014 that I discovered a world of tea that went beyond Teavana and the grocery store.

My tastes continue to evolve, but black tea is currently my favorite. I am especially drawn to strong, malty breakfast blends to wake me up in the morning and flavored dessert teas to sip throughout the day.

Just about everything in my cupboard is available to swap, so feel free to ask!
