I adore maple flavors in tea, so I had to give this one a try! Unfortunately, I think this sample must have been old and/or contaminated…the flavor was barely-there cinnamon with maybe the barest touch of maple on a flat black base. Withholding rating, since I don’t think I was tasting this tea at its best!

With a name like that, who could resist? Unfortunately, this one is nothing special. The woody rooibos base came through strongly with a layer of vanilla and not much else.

This was exactly how I felt about this one, and I’d had such high hopes

I love a good fruity herbal tisane when it’s done well, but I do NOT like hibiscus and feel that its inclusion ruins the vast majority of teas in this category. This one was no exception. It did smell like rhubarb, but the flavor was mainly hibiscus with a hint of fruitiness and an unpleasantly sour aftertaste. Not a fan!

Ooo, this is yummy! Rich and chocolatey with a hint of sweetness and a touch of astringency that keeps you going back for one more sip. Definitely wouldn’t mind having this one in my cupboard!

I don’t think I’ve ever had a really good pear-flavored tea, so I was curious to try this one. I found it pleasant, but lacking in a genuine pear taste. To me, this was more like an apple pie tea…heavy on the cinnamon with a fruity flavor that reminded me more of a baked apple than a pear. It’s good, but not what I was hoping for.

This one was heavy on the chai spices (specifically cardamom) and light on the coconut. I liked it, but it didn’t blow my mind.

One of my all-time favorite dessert teas is Roasted Chestnut from TeaSource, so I was curious to see how this one stacked up. Initially, I was turned off by the strong smoky scent the tea gave off as it brewed, but I’m so glad I gave it a chance anyway! There’s definitely some smoke going on in this blend, but it’s balanced by out by a bit of sweet caramel and a lot of rich, nutty flavor. I quite enjoyed my cup!

Flavors: Caramel, Nutty, Smoke

Thanks for your thoughts on this one. For Christmas this year, I’m planning on going a bit lighter on the Lapsang Souchong in the blend so that the chestnut flavor is more dominant.

Mmm, that sounds like it will be even more delicious!

This is a lovely Chinese black tea! The leaves are large and twisty with lots of golden tips and a rich, sweet aroma. The tea brews up to a deep reddish brown with a strong, malty sweet potato flavor. It’s super smooth with absolutely no bitterness or astringency. So glad for the chance to sample this one! I would definitely consider purchasing more in the future.

This was a very nice herbal dessert tea! The rooibos base was nice and smooth with no medicinal aftertaste and the caramel flavor came through rich and sweet. A great bedtime tea!

I don’t think I’ll be trying any more of Stash’s decaf teas, as both of the ones I sampled from this box were a huge disappointment. This one had the same unpleasantly sour aftertaste as the vanilla one I tried. The hazelnut flavor was weak and the chocolate really didn’t come through at all. Not a fan!

Flavors: Hazelnut, Sour

Bio

“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.” ~ C.S. Lewis

I was introduced to loose leaf tea by a roommate in 2012, but it wasn’t until I stumbled upon Steepster in 2014 that I discovered a world of tea that went beyond Teavana and the grocery store.

My tastes continue to evolve, but black tea is currently my favorite. I am especially drawn to strong, malty breakfast blends to wake me up in the morning and flavored dessert teas to sip throughout the day.

Just about everything in my cupboard is available to swap, so feel free to ask!
