986 Tasting Notes
This one was a disappointment for me. It smelled like spicy almond deliciousness, but the flavor was lackluster: mild cinnamon and anise with hints of almond. I’ll have to keep hunting for a good herbal chai!
Flavors: Almond, Anise, Cinnamon

Hmm, not quite sure what to think about this one. The scent and flavor of a honeydew melon are definitely present and the smooth, light white tea base is a good match. But for some reason, I’m smelling and tasting a slightly yeasty note as well…unbaked bread dough is the best description I can come up with. No idea where this is coming from, but it makes for a rather disconcerting experience! Wondering if cold-brewing would amp up the melon and knock out the yeast? I’m going to have to do some experimenting!
Flavors: Hay, Honeydew, Melon, Sweet, Yeast

Many of Fava’s teas contain artificial flavors, so I was excited to see that this one had only 3 ingredients: black tea, honey, and bee pollen. I definitely did enjoy the slight sweetness and floral flavor of the honey, but the base tea missed the mark for me. Ceylon doesn’t tend to be my favorite and the flavor of this one was just too sharp and brisk to mix well with the soft sweetness of the honey. I would LOVE to try this same blend with a Chinese black tea base!
Flavors: Floral, Honey, Sweet

I’m not generally a fan of red rooibos, but this one smelled amazing so I decided to give it a shot. On first sip, all I tasted was a big mouthful of woody rooibos. As the tea cooled, the peach flavor started to come through more. It’s definitely SWEET peach…highly artificial and reminds me more of peach-flavored gummy candy than real peaches. It’s okay, but not something I would re-purchase.
Flavors: Artificial, Peach, Rooibos, Sweet, Wood

Not sure what the base tea is on this one, but it’s super smooth with an almost silky texture. It reminds me of an oolong, though it’s definitely a black tea. I’m not picking up on a lot of caramel or cheesecake flavor, but I’m definitely tasting the pumpkin. Not a stand-out among the 52Teas blends I’ve tried, but still quite tasty!

I had never heard of the East Indies Tea Company before, but this tea smelled so good that I just had to try it! Most chocolate-flavored teas are a letdown in the flavor department, but this one is rich and sweet and malty and smooth…it really does taste like a chocolate malt in tea form! Quite possible the best chocolate tea I’ve ever had.
Flavors: Chocolate, Malt

Another one of those fruity herbal blends where the hibiscus just takes over and ruins everything for me. Glad I didn’t purchase more! Putting the rest of my sample in the Here’s Hoping TTB in hopes that someone else will enjoy this more than I do.

This was the last tea I sampled before mailing the box on to skysamurai and it was a great way to end my tasting adventure! This is a smooth yet robust Chinese black tea with rich cocoa notes and a hint of lingering caramel sweetness. My sample re-steeped beautifully and I’m sad there was only enough left for one cup. Adding it to my wish list!

I can’t stand artificial cherry flavoring because it reminds me of the liquid cold medicine I took as a child. However, I recently discovered a cherry-flavored tea that I LOVE (Fava’s Cloud 9), so I decided to give this one a try. My mistake! This basically tastes like someone added Triaminic to a cup of black tea. I rarely pour out a cup of tea without finishing it, but no shame on this one!
Flavors: Artificial, Cherry

I do love a good coconut tea and this one didn’t disappoint! Lots of sweet, creamy coconut flavor on a nice smooth honeybush base. (I wish there were more herbal dessert teas made with honeybush instead of rooibos.) I think I’m keeping this one!
Flavors: Coconut, Cream, Sweet
Sad. I’ve finally just started making my own.
