Oh wow, this one is delicious! The peach is coming through strong, along with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a hint of cream cheese. Totally hitting the spot this evening. Thank you to Sophia for the sample!

Not really getting any chocolate flavor out of this one. But on the plus side, it has real mint in it instead of just mint flavoring!

Despite all the other ingredients in the blend, the mint flavor pretty much takes over here. There is a bit of creaminess, but nothing that screams coconut. And the aftertaste is slightly sour. This one’s not for me!

This was a disappointment for me…all I taste is lemon and hibiscus. Drinkable, but not something I’d care to drink again.

drank Cranberry Creme by Market Spice

I generally steer clear of cranberry-flavored teas, as most of them include hibiscus. But this one was a pleasant surprise! Unexpectedly sweet with a strong creamy vanilla flavor and just a hint of generic berry (it doesn’t necessarily read as cranberry, but it’s not hibiscus, so I’m not complaining!) And the black tea base seems nice as well: robust but not bitter. Another reminder of why I enjoy Market Spice so much. Just wish they would sell their teas in smaller quantities!

Send me all your hibiscus. :)

Inkling

Haha, funny what a polarizing flavor that is! Seems people either love it or hate it. I actually have a local friend who enjoys the flavor of hibiscus, so I tend to pass all of those teas her way.

Not going to give this a numerical rating, as I know it’s an older tea and I suspect the coconut may have gone bad. The flavor was soapy and bitter and I couldn’t finish my cup.

This is a very fresh-tasting green oolong. Nothing terribly special or memorable, but I definitely enjoyed it!

This tea wasn’t what I was expecting at all based on the description, but I really liked it! It has a strong strawberry flavor and a smooth, slightly sweet green tea base. Hanging onto another serving of this so I can try it iced this summer!

drank Bohea by The Spice & Tea Exchange

Although I love American history, I had never heard of Bohea tea. As soon as I read the description on the package I was intrigued. Smoky orange spice? That doesn’t sound like it should work, but if the combo has been around for 200+ years, it must have something going for it! And while I don’t think this is something I would reach for on a regular basis, I did enjoy sampling it. The cinnamon flavor predominates, with just hints of the citrus peeking through and the smokiness lingering in the aftertaste. It’s a tea I really noticed while I was drinking it, not just mindlessly sipping my way through.

Tea boxes are such a great way to try new things without having to pay for them or commit to having them in your cupboard long-term! Based on past experience, I’ve decided I like Chinese green teas (which tend to be mild, smooth, and sweet) but don’t really care for Japanese green teas (which I’ve often found harsh, grassy, and bitter). But I decided to sample this one on a whim and was quite impressed! The flavor was definitely more assertive than most of the Chinese green teas I’ve tried, but not overly bitter or astringent. And the fresh grassiness seems rather perfect for this time of year. I would happily drink this again!

Bio

“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.” ~ C.S. Lewis

I was introduced to loose leaf tea by a roommate in 2012, but it wasn’t until I stumbled upon Steepster in 2014 that I discovered a world of tea that went beyond Teavana and the grocery store.

My tastes continue to evolve, but black tea is currently my favorite. I am especially drawn to strong, malty breakfast blends to wake me up in the morning and flavored dessert teas to sip throughout the day.

Just about everything in my cupboard is available to swap, so feel free to ask!
