I’ve never had bourbon, so I’m not sure if this blend tastes like it or not! What I taste is caramel and a hint of smoke, which doesn’t sound like it should work, but it does. A delicious and high quality dessert tea. August Uncommon keeps impressing me!

Flavors: Burnt Sugar, Caramel, Smoke

I just bought a tin of this because I love it!

Everyone should have tea friends who order samples and split them with you! Huge thanks to my friend Elizabeth for an opportunity to try 3 new-to-me August Uncommon teas. :) This one may have been my favorite of the bunch. It’s super rich and malty with chocolatey undertones. No bitterness or astringency and re-steeps beautifully! Wouldn’t mind adding this one to my cupboard.

Flavors: Cocoa, Dark Chocolate, Malt, Smooth, Sweet

This is the final sample I grabbed from the Traveling Tea Box before mailing it on to Michelle yesterday. It tastes kind of like the classic Bigelow Constant Comment tea, except with a white tea base instead of black. Orange and cinnamon are definitely the dominant flavors. There’s a bitter aftertaste that I can’t quite pin down, but which is significantly reducing my enjoyment. This one wasn’t a favorite, but overall I very much enjoyed my experience with this traveling tea box! Such a treat to get to try so many new-to-me teas and tea companies. I hope others enjoy the teas that I shared from some of my favorite companies!

A huge THANK YOU to whoever put the Tea Side oolongs in the traveling tea box! I’m a pretty casual oolong drinker and had never heard of this company, but both of the ones I tried from them were outstanding. This one somewhat reminded me of a milk oolong, as it had a very creamy flavor and silky texture, but it was sweeter than most with notes of caramel and berries. The second steep was just as delicious as the first and I’m guessing I could get several more good steeps out of these leaves before they give out. I may be placing an order with this company in the future!

Flavors: Berries, Butter, Caramel, Creamy, Sweet

drank GABA Oolong by Tea Side

Before taping up the box to mail to Michelle last night, I removed a couple more samples that only had 1-2 cups left, including this one. I don’t really know much about GABA tea, but I will say that this is a very nice oolong! It’s super smooth and buttery with a delicate floral flavor. It actually reminds me quite a bit of a green tea (except smoother), which surprised me based on the dark brown color of the leaves. Not sure if it actually has any magical health benefits, but it was a fun tea to try!

Flavors: Butter, Floral, Smooth

Unfortunately, I’m not really getting cream or vanilla notes from this tea…it’s just coming across as a pretty average breakfast blend. Maybe I need to add some actual cream to pull out those flavors?

This was not only a new-to-me tea blend, but a tea company I’d never even heard of! Based on this one, I’d be interested in trying more from Satori in the future. The fruit flavors are clean and fresh and not at all artificial and the black tea base provides a nice depth. This one’s staying with me!

Flavors: Smooth, Stonefruit, Sweet

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

It looks like they only have one tea for sale on their site. This one sounds delicious.

Inkling

It is! :)

This is one of my very favorite companies! Try this link – https://satoriteausa.com/collections/all

Now how did you get that to work, Shae? I only see two teas when I click ‘all’. Anyway, I’m intrigued to know the source of their Earl Grey Creme…

Shae

Same here when I click All through their menu so I went directly to this tea’s page and from there clicked All Products at the top and it worked. Not sure what’s up with that, but I had to check when you said that because I had just looked through their teas the other day.

Shae

Also, I haven’t tried any of their Earl Grey blends but if you enjoy chai their coconut chai is delicious.

Turmeric is so good for you, I’d love to find a turmeric tea I actually like! Unfortunately, this is not it. It’s super earthy and spicy with strong notes of ginger and turmeric and also a hint of…carrot, I think? I like my tea sweet rather than savory, so this one’s not for me.

Flavors: Carrot, Earth, Ginger, Spicy

Boiling 7 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

If they’d only left out the stevia, I think I would have really loved this tea. It had a mouthwatering aroma and a delicious flavor of chocolate and coffee, marred by the overly sweet stevia. I added some milk to cut the sweetness and that was better, but it still had that stevia aftertaste that I really don’t enjoy.

Flavors: Artificial, Chocolate, Coffee, Sweet

Preparation

I just don’t like blenders deciding how much and what kind of sweetness I need. Has often ruined many teas that would otherwise be quite tasty.

Totally agree!

I really need to remember to drink this fresh before the stevia gets old…

Oh wow, this is good! My whole kitchen smelled like lime while it was brewing and the flavor did not disappoint. It has a STRONG lemon-lime flavor with just a touch of marshmallow sweetness. I enjoyed it hot, but I bet it would be amazing iced!

Bio

“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.” ~ C.S. Lewis

I was introduced to loose leaf tea by a roommate in 2012, but it wasn’t until I stumbled upon Steepster in 2014 that I discovered a world of tea that went beyond Teavana and the grocery store.

My tastes continue to evolve, but black tea is currently my favorite. I am especially drawn to strong, malty breakfast blends to wake me up in the morning and flavored dessert teas to sip throughout the day.

Just about everything in my cupboard is available to swap, so feel free to ask!
