986 Tasting Notes
The flavor on this one seems more lemon than lime and I don’t really get anything that screams “pie”. That being said, it’s a nice natural citrus flavor (it doesn’t remind me of cleaning fluid like some artificial lemon teas do!) and balances well with the base. Nothing amazing, but I’d drink it again!

I recently placed a curbside pickup order with Fava to support them during this difficult time and tried a bunch of new-to-me teas. I enjoyed most of them, but this one is definitely my favorite of the bunch! I use 2-3 “pearls” for a 12oz mug of tea and get a rich, reddish-brown brew with delicious notes of chocolate and caramel that sips down super-smooth. I can get at least 2 more equally delightful steepings out of the same leaves! Though it’s a bit pricier than some of Fava’s other options, I will definitely be re-purchasing this one next time I want a special treat!

Yep, I live in the Milwaukee area. :) I’ve passed billboards for House on the Rock on the freeway, but never actually gone. It sounds a little weird for my taste. :D Have you been there? Did you like it?
AH! I have never been but I would LOVE to go if I was ever in the area. I guarantee it is so much more than the billboards. There is no way they can fit all that wonderful weird on the billboards. :D
Despite the name, this tea isn’t super “golden” in appearance. There is a random scattering of gold tips, but it’s mostly curly, tightly twisted black leaves. That being said, the flavor is exactly what I was hoping for! Sweet, smooth, malty deliciousness that hangs on for multiple re-steepings. At such a great price and supporting a local tea shop, this one may become a staple in my cupboard!

I didn’t get much tangerine from this one, just lots of STRONG ginger flavor! It was a comforting medicinal-type herbal tea for when I had a cold or an upset stomach, but not really something I’d choose to drink for pleasure. Finished off my two ounces and won’t be re-purchasing…The London Tea Room has so many amazing blends I love more than this one!
Flavors: Ginger, Spicy
Preparation
I ordered this on a whim because it was on sale and I’m so glad I did. It’s quickly becoming a favorite! Great balance of the juicy mango flavor and a little kick of spicy ginger. I’ve been drinking it hot (because Wisconsin is ridiculously cold for May right now…it SNOWED yesterday!) but I bet it will also be amazing iced!

Many moons ago, TeaSource had this AMAZING tea called Golden Mao Feng that was the best black tea I’ve ever had in my life! Since then, I keep trying every tea they put out with “golden” in the name, trying to recapture that magic. While this one isn’t the holy grail, it is a smooth, sweet, easy-to-drink black tea with delicious notes of brown sugar and sweet potato. Also re-steeps beautifully! Sad to be finishing it off today.

@Mastress Alita…So cool to find someone else who remembers that one! I feel like TeaSource isn’t as well-known on Steepster as they deserve to be. So many good teas!
Even though I’m in Idaho and TeaSource is in Missouri, it is the shop that my local coffee haunt (and the only coffee haunt in town that offers proper, loose leaf tea) wholesales their tea selections from. They don’t offer their whole catalog, but for a time, the Golden Mao Feng was on the menu, and since I love Chinese Blacks, I ordered it a lot. I daresay I may have been the only one that depleted Twin Beans of their stock, heh.
I do know that The Tao of Tea has a Golden Mao Feng, but I have yet to order/try it. I’ve been on order hiatus for a long time now until I actually clear out all the tea I currently have while it just keeps getting older.
I love a good tropical green tea, but this one was a bit of a disappointment. It’s not bad by any means. The green tea base is nice long, unbroken leaves that brew up smooth and sweet. But the flavor is just generic “fruit” without anything distinctively tropical. I’ll finish my two ounces, but this isn’t one I’m likely to re-purchase.
Flavors: Fruity, Smooth, Sweet

My sampler was packed with coconut flakes, so I’m surprised I’m not getting more coconut flavor from this blend. The primary flavors are lime and blueberry, with just a hint of tropical pineapple and coconut. The base tea has a seaweed taste that (to me) doesn’t go especially well with the fruit flavorings, but it does match the name!
Preparation
I’m not generally a fan of rose-flavored tea, so I was happy to find that the raspberry and vanilla flavors dominate this blend. The base tea is also present, bringing a maltiness and depth to the flavor that keeps it from being too thin. Overall, quite a pleasant dessert tea!
