986 Tasting Notes
Another sample from Shae! I don’t think I’ve had anything from this company before, but their packaging is really cute. The tea itself really did smell like an oatmeal cookie, but the flavor was mostly cinnamon and not much else.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Cookie, Oats
Preparation
The lovely Shae surprised me with the sweetest tea package last week (including AQTT’s Sticky Toffee Bread Pudding, which I am over the moon about!) and this was one of the samples she included. I have to say, I think Harney & Sons nailed the quintessential Irish Breakfast blend with this one. It’s bold, strong, and malty, has tons of flavor even with milk added, and wakes you right up! I’ll be keeping this one in mind next time I order from H&S.
Flavors: Astringent, Bitter, Malt
Preparation
You know, as much as I love my unleaded malt first thing in the morning, I believe I have neglected to try this one! (Anybody know if this is one of the flavors H&S sells retail?)
This may have been my least favorite blend of the Memphis sampler. It smelled like strawberry candy, but the flavor was a muddled jumble of generic fruit that didn’t taste distinctly like strawberry or anything else in particular. I’ll drink the three bags I have, but this isn’t one I’d chose to re-purchase.
Flavors: Fruity
Preparation
Like all the teas in this sampler, this is much nicer than your average bagged chai! The tea itself appears to be a CTC, but there are nice big cardamom seeds and bits of cinnamon bark visible in the sachet. The flavor is intense and spicy with lots of ginger and cardamom and a hint of pepper tickling the back of my throat. The base tea is pretty astringent, but it smooths out nicely with a bit of milk. Overall, this isn’t my personal favorite flavor profile for a chai (I like the ones that lean a bit sweeter with more cinnamon and nutmeg) but still one of the better bagged options I’ve tried!
Flavors: Astringent, Cardamom, Ginger, Pepper, Spicy
Preparation
This is one of the few teas from this company that missed the mark a bit for me. Based on the name, I was expecting a peach tea. But so many other flavors have been added, I really can’t discern the specific fruits that are present in the blend…it’s just generically fruity, like a mixed fruit candy or something. Still not a bad tea, but it falls short of many of the other excellent blends that were included in the same sampler.
Flavors: Artificial, Fruity
Preparation
Lemon teas can go so very wrong (I’ve had some that made me feel like I was drinking Lysol!) but this blend does it right! Smooth, sweet lemon and vanilla with a bit of sweetness coming through from the honeybush. A lovely bedtime treat!
Flavors: Creamy, Lemon, Sweet, Vanilla
Preparation
This is such a common blend that I never would have purchased it on its own, but it was included in the Memphis Medley sampler I bought, so I ended up trying it. Like pretty much everything else I’ve tried from My Cup of Tea, this blend was excellent! The peppermint tends to overwhelm the chocolate in other chocolate mint rooibos teas I’ve tried, but this one has a distinctive creamy chocolate flavor, which comes out even more with a bit of milk. This company just keeps impressing me!
Flavors: Chocolate, Peppermint, Smooth, Sweet
Preparation
This was probably the blend I was most excited about in my most recent purchase from My Cup of Tea and it didn’t let me down! A robust, chocolatey black base tea provides the perfect backdrop for lots of rich coconut and almond flavoring…like a melted Almond Joy bar in a cup! Really lovely with a splash of milk and I’m guessing it would make an amazing latte. Will definitely be re-purchasing!
Flavors: Almond, Coconut, Dark Chocolate
Preparation
I had the opportunity to visit the My Cup of Tea shop on my recent trip to Memphis and thoroughly enjoyed my experience! The shop (housed in an old Victorian home) is utterly adorable, the tea is fresh and delicious, and the employees I talked to testified that this company is doing good work in the Orange Mound community. I walked out with two different teas, plus their “Memphis Medley” sampler pack containing 7 Memphis-themed blends, including this one. I wasn’t expecting it to be a favorite, but it’s actually one of the best blueberry-flavored teas I’ve tried! It’s a black tea (which was a nice surprise) and NO HIBISCUS (even better!) The blueberry flavoring layered over the black tea base is giving me the vibes of blueberry jam on toast…quite delicious! I may consider a full box of this one next time.
Flavors: Blueberry, Jam, Toast

I ordered this sampler recently too! I’m so glad to see other reviews for this company on Steepster. I’ve really enjoyed their teas so far and their customer service is amazing. A new favorite for me.
So fun that we both discovered them this year! Hopefully we can get them some well-deserved attention on Steepster. :)
Just polished off this taster from my mystery grab bag. I had another zabaglione tea from 52Teas that I remember being pretty amazing (I think it was raspberry?), but this one was just so-so. I got notes of plum and nutmeg, but none of that creamy custard flavor I was expecting.
Flavors: Nutmeg, Plum
