From DAVIDsTEA

Indulge

This ultra-rare oolong from the Wuyi Mountains of China is velvety smooth and lightly creamy, with a subtle hint of orchid. It’s said that it came about when the moon fell in love with a comet. The comet passed her by, as comets will do. The moon cried milky tears, which chilled the tea fields, withering the leaves and giving them a delicate creaminess. It’s been a rare luxury ever since.

Ingredients: Chinese oolong tea from the Fujian province, natural flavouring.

My first milk oolong. And, that’s sort of neat since I got to try something new due to its presence in the 24 days of Tea calendar. I have always wanted to try a milk oolong and since this one looked more roasty than green, it seemed like a good candidate.

I didn’t dislike it. It was different from my normal teas. It had a definite creamy note, something a little…floral or vegetal? Somewhere in the middle. But for some reason non black teas don’t feel like drinking tea to me. Weird, I know. I’ll finish off this sample though.

This has been my least favourite of all the milk oolongs I’ve tried. If you ever get a chance, try out What-cha’s.

Raising my rating a little, this is better than I remember it being when I first had it.

A favourite of mine. Creamy, sweet, and perfect. Definitely need to get a tin of this. The best part is that you can keep re-steeping it a few times after the initial steep and it’s still good.

Tasty, but not much for milky aroma, and the flavor – while good – is not up to par with most milk oolongs available.

Day 3 of the 24 Days of Tea calendar!

I’ve always wanted to try this tea, but never actually bought any because I don’t like milk. Anything with the word “milk” in it I instantly assume I’m not going to be a fan of, whether it’s true or not. Since this was my perfect opportunity to try it before I bought it (sort of…), I was excited.

The smell: milky. Uh, oh. This is not starting off well.

The taste: a little milky, a lot oolongy, and a wee tinge of bitterness. Definitely over-steeped. It’s certainly not horrible, but so far it hasn’t been enough to wow me. I’ll try again with the other half of the container tomorrow and make sure I pay attention to the steeping. I’m not prepared to write it off yet!

Verdict: will have to try a second time to know for sure.

Cameron B.

I’m not sure what steeping parameters you used, but I usually do about 190 degrees for 3 minutes for green oolongs. :)

Holy god, this tea smells like butter. Its really, really awkward to put your face above a teacup and get the aroma of a pot of melting butter. It ruins the experience.
The taste is more like green tea: mildly bitter and a bit earthy, so that wasn’t too bad, but the smell is hard to get past.

I love this tea! It’s a straight tea, with a very buttery taste. I enjoy it on it’s own, without adding anything. It has a very delicate flavour.

My friend steeped a cup of this up for me while I was over the other day, saying it was her favorite milk oolong, but for me it was just alright I suppose. It seemed a little watery and flavorless, but it could have been that she added too much water. It’s certainly smooth and a little buttery, but i think less water should do the trick. I might pick up a little size to try it out

Our Pennsylvania store opened today and of course I went to check it out! I got this as a to-go because I was unsure of wether or not I would like it and $11.50 is a lot to pay for a mistake. I have never liked more traditional teas but this one was delicious! It was so creamy and it was sweet on its own. I will be buying this one next time and I’m hoping I get the job there on Monday after my interview :)

I love this tea too Lindsay. The interesting thing about it is that different batches taste different. I guess tea is like wine where growing seasons determine the taste of the tea. But it is delicious. If you like brie cheese, taste it with that. Or shortbread cookies..

i love brie, I’m so happy tea has so many different tastes so it can go with anything.

I had a few sips of my sweetie’s cup of this, and compared to the Milk Oolong from Cornelia Bean, I’m disappointed. There are woody notes that dominate the creamy, butteryness that I like in a milk oolong, and just stuff that doesn’t seem like it should be there.

On its own it’s still a nice tea, but there are better milk oolongs.
