From Harney & Sons

Tower of London Blend is reminiscent of Elizabethan preserves, flavorful and tempting. We stir Chinese black teas with pieces of dried stone fruit, then finish the blend with oil of bergamot and honey flavor. Featured in our Historic Royal Palaces Collection, it has become one of our most popular teas, especially with its brilliant amethyst-inspired tin.

Ingredients: Black tea, dried stone fruit, bergamot oil, honey flavor

I bought this tea in one of Harney’s Tagalong tins.
Just finished a cup with breakfast.
It is good, basically it makes me think of a cross between their Paris Tea and a Earl Grey(which are both flavors that I like)but with a small touch of honey.
It is, of course, a sachet not loose.
I wish it was offered in loose because I think I would have made it a bit stronger.
I enjoy this tea, but there is other Teas H&S offer that I love even more.

This tea is offered loose by the pound from the Harney and Sons website. Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks H&S!
That is good info to know.
Between that and just trying your Dragon Pearl Jasmine, I am sure I wont be long in placing another order with you all soon;)

Cameron B was right when she sent me this, saying that I might like it because of my high rating of Paris. :) This is fruity and while not exceedingly bergamotty, it is there in the background for me along with some cocoa notes, oddly enough. This would not replace Paris for me but it is good to have tried it! Thanks, Cameron B!

boychik

I find this similar to St Petersburg .

Nicole

Yes, I hadn’t thought about that but it is similar. Of the two, I think I prefer this one. But that could be because I have had it most recently. :)

I’m officially no longer prejudiced against bagged tea. I drank two cups of this one to make sure it wasn’t a fluke before I wrote this note.

The sachet smells strongly of peach and apricot and it oozes honey.

This steeps to produce a very dark cup of tea that smells strongly of fruit and honey. The cup is incredibly smooth and has a lot of body but the crisp bergamot provides a nice balance to the overall fullness of this tea. Even though flavored, the tea base remains strong.

This is going to become a favorite first-cup-of-the-morning tea.

I love this! I have the sachets and loose leaf, and have to order it for friends a lot.

I’m having a very good run with H&S this time. I’ve discovered at least half a dozen new favorites and many were in sachets. For me, this one passed Paris and may out-seat Florence too.

ashmanra

It is similar to Paris, which I love, but I must confess it unseated Paris for me as well! That is why I begged Mike to offer it loose leaf until he finally caved! :)

Ruth sent me a few bags and I am drinking it now. Smells like a honey vanilla or something. It’s a good juicy taste – black tea and honey, again, for some reason it seems a little creamy to me too…regardless, it’s yummy!

It’s a nice blend….a little earl grey floral bergamot, a little sweet honey. Maybe a little of a tart berry like blackberry too.

Thanks Cavo, for the bag to try.

I did a SIPDOWN of my sachets and I am trying to make myself let go of some of these tea tins I have all about. The thing is, this one is so pretty I don’t want to get rid of it! It is sitting on my secretary desk right now and may become my pencil holder because the ruffle is so regal and the silver filigree shines so prettily.

ashmanra

Oops, it is actually the Blueberry Green tin I am having trouble letting go. They are both purple, but BG is brighter.

Plunkybug

The tin in the picture I’d really lovely though.

Not a bad tea, but I have come to the conclusion that I do not like bergamot. I’m not really sure what it even is, but any tea that has it I tend to not like too much. Ah well…

Haha I’m with you there! Though I did find one tea the other day that didn’t taste the way bergamot usually does that was decent enough :)

Finn88

Oh good, I’m not the only one! Ha I have no idea what it is about it…but I am not a fan.

Terri HarpLady

I’m also not a huge bergamot fan, but recently I have actually enjoyed an occasional cup, provided it was sweetened with stevia.

One of my friends stopped over at lunch time as I was making up a pot of this. She swore this smelled like another HT Paris (I had bought her a tin of Paris when I visited the factory/shop). It does smell a bit like Paris, I think she was smelling the bergamot – which is in both teas. There is a very different taste to it. To me this is much lighter flavor than Paris. I love the hint of bergamot, the honey is def. the dominant flavor in this flavored black – yum!! (Glad I grabbed this one by mistake when I left the house!)

My friend did agree that this was not Paris, but she prefers it to Tower of London…More for me! :)

have you tried fruits d’alsace? OMG.

boychik

Yep. Today I liked Tower more. Will try them side by side tomorrow .

Nicole

I got a sample of this as well. Haven’t tried it yet!

i love this one too boychik (seems we have similar tastes in general!). it’s deceptive—seems simple and straightforward, just an easy-drinking tea, but it does what it does so well that you find yourself thinking about it later, pining and happy. kinda like when you’re a teenager and some person you’ve never thought of “that way” suddenly’s on your mind a lot, haha.

boychik

ifjuly, I’m smiling for some reason. that time well past, but thanks

I tasted Tower of London side by side with Paris, and they are quite similar, at least in my opinion. I’d be curious to know what others think. Tower of London is supposed have a bit more of a honey taste, but both have bergamot, vanilla, and fruit. I detect caramel in Paris. I think anyone who likes one would like the other. As for me, I’m not sure which I prefer, maybe the Tower of London. I prefer unflavored black teas, but this is a nice change of pace and is growing on me now that I’ve had it a few times.

Sipdown! (127) There wasn’t enough leaf for two cups so I dumped the rest (about 1 1/2 teaspoons) into a 12 oz. mug and hoped for the best.

This smells so delicious. It’s like jam or some sort of fruit salad with plums and berries. I’d say this and Diamond Jubilee are tied for my favorite H&S blends so far, which is a little strange because I rate them differently! Maybe next time I’ll up Diamond Jubilee’s rating again, because I do love them equally for different reasons. There are several others on my list to try (looking at you, Vanilla Comoro), but I’m very happy with these as both EGs and flavored black teas in general.

I am in love with this tea! I have trouble remembering it’s an EG because there’s so much else going on. The fruit is strong, and the honey notes in the description are also present. There is a little EG bite at the end, both from the black tea base and the bergamot. Love, love, love!
