541 Tasting Notes
I was at the bookstore today and saw a tin of this. It was just too beautiful! I love the silver and blue together. You could actually smell the blueberry before opening the wrapping on the lid of the container. I really needed a pick me up morning tea and something fruity sounded like a perfect flavor.
The blueberry flavoring is pretty good. It is not quite as balanced as I’d like it, as the blueberry is heavily dominant. But there are notes of nice green tea in there as well. I was surprised this wasn’t bitter because I steeped in water that was quite hot. What surprised me was how thick the mouthfeel was. I will likely try it with milk/soymilk later like the cashier had suggested.
Preparation
I picked this up on a whim because it was very cheap ($2.50) and displayed by the cash register at my local health foods store. The flavor is actually very close to Kusmi’s caramel. The burnt sugar notes are the most prominent flavor. It’s a great deal if you want a good dessert tea.
Thank you Angel for this sample! When I first open the package for this tea I was reminded of the sparkling apple cider my family drinks every New Years. The rose and chamomile buds are very beautiful and the tea itself has downy, full buds. I was expecting this to taste more of the white base, but it is more given to the other flavors. I was able to pull about seven equally good steepings from my first try with this tea. I really love the flavors and they all balanced together very well. Since school started this has become my go-to relaxing tea and I am excited to try mixing it with a few of the others in my cupboard. I think this might be one of my very favorites from Teavivre!
I saw this on clearance yesterday so I picked up a box! My first steep was much better than this one! At 4min. the stevia becomes very overpowering. At three minutes I was able to taste more of the spices. I’m not sure this is a great boxed tea, but I’ll have to try it a bit more! I actually think it would be a bit better if the black base was more evident. It would balance out this sweetness a lot.
I actually poured out this second cup. I guess shorter steep times are a must! And I noticed that the stevia is probably what made me really hate another recent tea.
I’m glad I gave these another try! I picked up the $1 sample today just in case I liked this one more. I still think that I wish these tasted more like matcha. The flavoring in this one does not have the same strange aftertaste that the peach one had. I still think it might be the chicory. The lime is very tasty and I thought that I would like to kick back with a cuppa this on a hot day! The mix blends very well, even with very cold water. For what it is, it’s pretty tasty!
I had been suffering for the past 5 days with a stomach ache, so I thought I’d get herbal and try this one. I have tried ginger as an addition to a tea, but never the main flavor. This was intense! It is very sweet and herbaceous. I always buy those little ginger sweets at the Asian markets, and that is exactly what this reminded me of. It probably will not be for everyone due to the simple fact that it is intense, but I really enjoy it. It also is very good with lemon.
They had small trial pouches of these for sale at my fresh market and I thought I’d give this a whirl! I was surprised that the first ingredient was sugar. There were also no instructions, so I simply mixed it with cool water. The peach itself is very tasty and aromatic. I was surprised how juicy it was! But this does not taste much like matcha and that’s a real shame. The chicory is weird and keeps reminding me that there are additives to the mix. I’m very iffy about this one for now.
I just found my sample of this floating around in a drawer so I thought I’d finally crack it open! I’m surprised by how savory the liquor smells. I really like the laoshan green, so I was expecting to really enjoy this. This is very good! I like the savory aspects with the green being the undertone. I was surprised that the mint is more evident in the smell than in the taste.
Preparation
Thank you Ninas Paris for this sample!
mmm it smells just like peachy rings! This brewed up much darker than I expected given the name, but it’s not really an issue. This is a very smooth tea. I love the peach flavor! I think I would rather drink this than actually eat a peachy ring (all that sugar!). Very excellent midday pick-me up too!
